F.O.D., chapter 1

Her whole world had collapsed in an instant.

Not even a pause for breathe. Not even a sorry.
He had left her there, alone.
She loved him so much, and he had turned his back on her.

Becky looked up at the night's sky, the most painful tears rushing, tumbling down her face.
She couldn't believe it. How could Ben leave her? After all the things he had told her. She had given him everything.
She had a terrible ache in her chest as she balled her fists. She felt so weak. Sitting there, on the cold, iron park bench, her back hunched, alone in the night, uncontrollably distraught, her head spinning, as she tried to come to terms with the fact that the man she had loved for so long, whom she had devoted her entire world to, had just up and left her.
For ever.
Used and discarded. Like a cigarette butt. She felt so wronged.

Her best friend, Kathryn, had told her that people were saying something was going on between Ben and the school slut, Danielle. Becky hadn't believed.
Hadn't wanted to think that Ben would do that too her. She should've listened to her.

'How long? ' Becky had asked Ben earlier that night, on that same park bench. He refused too look her in the eyes, didn't reply.

'How FUCKING LONG BEN? '

'Long enough to know you and me aren't worth this, Beck. ' He'd replied.
Not worth THIS? What was that supposed to mean? It was somehow her fault?

'Just because you think with what's in your pants instead of your fucking brain, how is this is my fault? '

'It's just not working out between us; Danielle gives me what I want, what I need. You never did, never could, I don't think. ' Ben had said, smug, composed.

'Goodbye, Becky. ' He had stood and left. No apology, no comforting embrace.

She couldn't speak, couldn't move. She'd sat there for moment after moment staring into space. Then it had hit her.
Her boyfriend of 2 years had left her for a girl who would fuck him every day.
That was it. She had meant sex to him. Nothing more. She broke down.
And cried her broken heart out.

Over the next few days, Becky stayed in her dark room, unmoving, either crying or sleeping. She had no idea how she had gotten home from the lookout. Not that she cared.
She was so angry, at Ben, and at herself, for letting him do that to her.

She convinced herself that she hated him.

After 4 days of not seeing, or talking to anyone, her mobile rang. Out of sheer curiosity, she answered.
It was Kathryn.

'Hey, babe, I'm been worried about you. Where you been? '

'Around. '

'Beck, what's happened? '

'The asshole. He... You were right. About him. About everything. I should've listened to you. '

'Ben? ' She thought for a moment.
'Oh My God, you mean him and Danielle? Holy shit, what happened? Are you alright? '

'No I'm not. He took me out to the lookout we went too on our first date. I- everything was great, I felt so happy. Then he told me. About her. About them. '
She paused.

'Then he... He dumped me. '

'Oh, fuck. I'm coming over. Right now. Then, we're going out. '

'No, I don't want t-

'Don't even try to stop me. I'll be there in 5. Okay. Love you. Bye. ' With that, she hung up.

Becky sighed, put down the phone, and fell back down onto the pillow, face first. She knew what was coming. Comfort eating, shopping and more comfort eating.
'It might help. ' She tried to convince herself.
She doubted it.

In around 7 minutes Kathryn arrived. Becky could hear her chatting with her parents. Her parents hadn't even noticed Becky wasn't around.
'Typical. ' She sneered to herself. Her parents were too busy arranging charity events for her school, or going to the local country club to notice that their oldest child was currently suffering from a broken heart.

Her best friend was walking up the stairs. She opened the door.

'Hey, your not up! ' She exclaimed.

'Well, duh. ' Becky though.
Kathryn sat down on the bed.

'C'mon darling, we must go out and bye ridiculous amounts of clothes and shoes we don't need. Then, we're going to see a punk gig. Get out of bed. '

'Okay, fine. ' Becky replied, rolling onto the floor.

'Good start. I'll wait downstairs. ' Her best friend replied. As she walked out, all Becky could see were her green high tops, all she could hear were her car keys gingling in her hand. Becky pulled herself up off the carpet, and got dressed into black jeans, a red top, and her favourite pair of Vans. She couldn't be bothered doing her straight brown and red hair, so she put it in a messy ponytail, and sloppily applied her makeup. She grabbed her wallet, and walked downstairs.

'That's better. ' Said Kathryn.
It wasn't really. Beck still looked terrible.
'Okay, lets go. ' Said Becky.

'This better be worth it. ' Beck thought as they walked out the front door to Kathryn Voltswagon.

She wouldn't be disappointed.
