A Life Through Letters, chapter 3

JASLINA

It was Billie Joe, who I had met in The Coffee Shop. I never thought, "See you around," would end up being something like this. I knelt down beside him, as I saw Alix getting out his cell phone.
"Billie Joe?"
He didn't say anything.

There were these two other guys there, who were probably Billie Joe's friends. The tall looking one started to slap Billie Joe's face, "Billie!" Billie Joe's head tilted to one side, and he managed to say something, "Shit."

Billie Joe's other friend said, "Can you move?"
"Yeah," Billie Joe said sounding stronger this time.
"Get up, or try to," he said.

We all helped Billie Joe up.
"The ambulance coming, Alix?"
"They put me on hold."
Billie Joe then said, "No, it's okay. I can walk. I think I just have a bruise."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah."
"Alix, hang up," I said looking at the most familiar face of the four in front of me.
"I'm so sorry, man. I didn't know those traffic lights were still fucked up," Alix exclaimed.
"No, really it's okay."

"Were you guys heading anywhere? We can give you a ride," I said, trying to be helpful.
"Yeah, we were going to the arcade over there. And if you don't mind, it would be great," the tall one said.

We all managed to fit in the tiny little car, and soon enough, we were in the arcade's parking lot. And thankfully, the arcade was connected to the bowling alleys.

TRE

When we were coming out of the hotel to walk to the arcade, all of a sudden, I see Billie on the street. Except he wasn't exactly walking on the street, he was lying on it.

So Mike and I went to help him. There was a girl coming out of the car, who knew Billie's name. A skinny looking guy also came out of the car, and took out his cell phone. The girl, Mike and I helped Billie up. And, good thing, Billie just had a bruise. The girl offered us a ride, and we were off to the arcade.

Inside the arcade, it smelt like popcorn, and all you could hear was clinking sounds, and bowling balls rolling on the wooden floor.

We decided to have pizza first, 'cause every single game in the arcade had a kid in front of it.

NOBODY [a.k.a. narrator]

The five of them sat on the blue plastic chairs in front of them. Jaslina turned around and around on her chair, allowing it to squeak loudly. Everyone at the table looked at her strangely.
"Sorry," she said, "I'll go get the pizza. Anyone want a drink?"
Immediately, Mike said, "I'll just have a coffee."
Everyone else had responded by saying coke.
She went upstairs to the bar, and ordered.

"Why is she taking so long?" Alix asked impatiently, "I'm gonna check what's wrong."
Alix went upstairs to the bar. He saw Jaslina, but yet he was still quite worried, and confused. Trickling down her face was a tear.
