Baby I Love You, chapter 1
'Happy birthday to you! ' sang my friends and family as I blew out the candles on my cake.
It was the night of my 27th Birthday and I was having a party in one of the coolest places ever, on the roof of my apartment building, in the heart of San Francisco. It's a warm yet breezy night, perfect for an outdoor party. I felt my dress flap against my knees, the same dress my parents had bought me. It was a strapless 50's style dress, black with small light pink dots.
The view was incredible, all the lights shining from the buildings surrounding us, along with the fairy lights and paper lanterns hung all around the roof.
Music was playing, people were dancing, and it was just great.
I was in the middle of cutting cake when a familiar pair of arms slid around my waist.
'Happy birthday beautiful' he whispered.
I turned to face Tre. His face moved closer to mine as I stepped on my tip toes, and put my arms around his neck.
I felt his soft lips touch mine, and a shiver went down my spine. It was a deep kiss, fast and strong. It was amazing.
I pulled away as a way of teasing and rested my feet firmly back on the ground, still with my arms around his neck.
'Hey! ' I smiled, feeling slightly fuzzy inside looking at those amazing eyes of his.
'Is that my present? ' I giggled.
'Its kind of a taste of what's to come' he grinned. 'Oh and this is a bonus'.
He reached into his back pocket and got a box.
I brought my arms back to my side and took hold of my present. Inside was a beautiful bracelet.
'Oh my God Tre, it's gorgeous'.
'A gorgeous present for a gorgeous girl' he grinned.
'That is so cheesy, but so sweet' I got back on my tiptoes and kissed his cheek.
He put his arms around my waist as I attempted to put the bracelet on.
'So are you staying here tonight then? '
'Oh yes! I need to give you your other present. Plus, I'm way too pissed to drive home' he giggled.
'How romantic Mr. Cool' I smiled.
I rested my head on his shoulder as he gave me some clues as to what my present involved (I could guess already but he did it anyway).
As he went into way to much detail for a place where my parents were close by, Billie Joe and Adrienne came over to talk.
'Happy Birthday Susie! ' smiled Adrienne as she held her arms out to hug me.
'Thank you so much for the CD, I love it! '
'No problem. You look great in that dress by the way' smiled Billie Joe also hugging me.
'Why thank you Mr. Armstrong, you're looking pretty nice yourself' I giggled.
Tre quickly put his arms around my waist, seemingly scared I would disappear again talking to other guests. He kept kissing my neck, making me want the party to finish so I could receive my present.
'I love this party on the roof thing, it looks so amazing! ' gushed Adrienne.
'All Mike's idea, within minutes of him suggesting it I was planning away! ' I'm just pleased it didn't rain. ' I laughed.
We stood talking for a couple more minutes until Billie Joe and Adrienne went off to dance.
I decided to mingle a little bit more, much to the disappointment of Tre. He went off to get a drink as I started my mingle mission.
I first saw Mike and his girlfriend Jen for the evening over by the door of the roof and headed in that direction. Waving at people now and then.
'Hey you! Thank you again for this idea, it's incredible! '
'No problem. Oh by the way here's your present, hope you like it, and umm sorry it's not wrapped. '
He handed me a Michael Moore book.
'Oh Mike you star, you know I'm a bit of a fan! ' I laughed as I went to hug him.
'I've read it, it's really interesting, and you'll really like it. '
'So what did Tre get you? ' asked Jen, also hugging me.
'This bracelet and I'm getting the other present tonight' I grinned.
'I don't need to know! ' laughed Mike.
'I love your dress, it looks great on you' smiled Jen.
'Thanks, my parents got it for me. '
I looked over at Tre who was sipping beer and looking very bored as he talked to one of my cousins. I felt I should save him but then he moved to Billie Joe and Adie and I wasn't too worried then.
I stood talking to Mike and Jen for a while, talking mainly about Michael Moore when I got a tap on my shoulder.
I turned around to see Tre.
'May I have this dance? '
'But Tre there's no music. ' I said
'Just wait a second. ' He grinned.
Just seconds later The Ramones song 'Baby I love you' started to play and I looked at him and my heart melted.
'Yes I will'
I turned to Mike and Jen and mentioned something about dancing but it came out as a mumble.
Tre led me over to the middle of the rooftop.
'I can't believe you remembered this' I smiled, resting my head on his shoulder.
'I remember everything from that night. What you were wearing, what I was wearing, the date and especially this song. '
This was the song that played roughly 8 months ago, when me and Tre first got together. It was at Tre's birthday party. When we finally told each other how we felt. We had danced all night but when this song came on, I think we knew it was right to tell each other.
I couldn't believe he remembered.
The song was half way through when he started to say something.
'You know, you look amazing tonight. Well you do everyday, but you just look wow! ' he smiled
'You're so sweet. And you're looking pretty damn hot. I'm looking forward to this present... '
I looked up at him, moved my arms around his neck and gently pulled his head in for a kiss. Each kiss was better then the last. I didn't want it to end.
He moved away, playing the teasing game himself.
'God, I love you Susie. '
'Tre, I love you too. '
The song was almost over, but we still danced so close together. I rested my head on his head, holding him close to me. I never wanted to leave from this spot, well until the party was over and I got my last birthday present.
