There Were Places We Would Go At Midnight..., chapter 4
Mike awoke to a furious pounding on his door. It was either Tre, or the maid really wanted to turn down his bed. Mike shuffled over to the door, rubbing his eyes and yawning. He looked through the peephole and was surprised to see Billie, looking panicked. Mike fumbled with the chain and had barely cracked the door before it was pushed open with a great force, and Billie charged in, plopping himself down in a chair and shaking his legs nervously up and down. Mike just gaped at him for a while, still half-asleep.
"What the fuck did you do now?" Mike asked finally.
"Something big man. Stomething really stupid and really big. But the thing is, I hardly remember fucking doing it!" Billie put his head in his hands, muffling his voice.
"Oh, my god; Oh, my god. I don't know what the fuck I'm gonna do man. I really fucked things up this time."
Mike was a little scared.
This was something serious. Then realization hit him like a brick. His eyes opened wide.
"Oh shit. You and that girl didn't-"
"Don't say it!" Billie snapped, looking up at Mike with intense foreboding.
"Don't you fucking say it." Then his fierceness faded and he crumpled into his hands once more.
"Oh, shit. I think I'm gonna be sick."
Billie dashed into the bathroom, sick partly from drunkenness and partly from panic. He washed out his mouth In the sink and came back out, sitting himself on the corner of the bed. A tear rolled down his face, his forehead glistening with sweat, and he looked up at Mike like a child afraid of the dark.
"I think I might have just ruined everything, man."
Mike knelt down in front of Billie and put his hands on his friend's knees.
"Look, don't think like that, ok? This can be fixed. Anything can be fixed, but first you have to calm down. We can't fix anything while you are freaking out. So can you calm down for me?" Billie sniffed and nodded, and at that moment Tre waltzed into the room. He took one look at his friends and pieced things together instantly.
"See Mike! I told you he would fuck that girl if we didn't stop him!" Tre looked almost as freaked out as Billie. Mike just glared at the intruder.
"As always, Tre, your heartfelt sympathy is absolutely mind-boggling."
Tre looked down at the floor, ashamed. Billie ran his hands through his hair and fell back on the bed, covering his face with a pillow. Suddenly Tre realized something, unnoticed by his bandmates, and ran out of the room into his own. Once inside he dialed his cell phone hastily.
"Adie? Hey, its Tre. Look, I think this would be a REALLY good time to tell Billie about you and me. It might just save your marriage."
