Forever Greener, chapter 1
They we’re in-love, and they had officially told each other (and show each-other). They continued to stand on the pier looking into eachothers eyes as it rained. It was getting colder and the rain was still coming down harder. Billie spun Steph around so that he was facing the way the rain was coming down and so she would be hit with less rain.
‘Maybe we should leave’, Steph suggested ‘Its getting pretty bad’.
‘Yeah, come on. Did you come in the car?’, Billie asked.
‘Yeah the guys are waiting there’, Steph finished.
They slowly made their way over to the car. The Pier was slippery which made walking even harder. They almost got blown off at one point. The thunder was scaring both of them. By the time they got to the car they were like wet rats.
‘You two look cute’, Tre joked as they climbed into the car before they drove off. It was starting to hail, which made the drive even worse. They couldn’t see out of the windows, let alone a few feet over the bonnet of the car.
‘Maybe we should just stop the car, until the weather settles’, Steph recommended.
‘No, we’re nearly there, and there’s no one else on the road. We’ll be fine’, Mike said continuing to drive. The car was starting to fog up. Tre was writing messages on the windows. Billie on the other hand, had he’s arm around a half asleep Steph.
‘You alright?’, Billie asked her giving her a cuddle.
‘Yeah I’m fine, just a little cold’, she replied moving closer into him. Billie wasn’t the warmest thing but Steph felt better, being just with him.
‘Alright, just wait till we get home. I’ll take care off you then’, he told her playing with her hair. It was completely tangled and he’s fingers kept getting caught in it. Steph felt so special and everyone could tell. She couldn’t wait to tell her sister about this. Tre was watching them from the rear view mirror. He slumped into he’s chair and stopped drawing on the windows. Steph noticed. She tried to get his attention, by looking in the mirror and making faces, but he ignored her. *I wonder what he’s up to- she thought*
They had finally reached the house after a half hour of driving in those horrid conditions. They locked up and ran to the door. Steph pulled out her keys and threw them around trying to find the front door key. After a few seconds of fumbling she found it, and let everyone in. The house was warm. The heater had been left on. They we’re starting to dry. Tre made he’s way over to the recliner and slumped down in it. Mike went over to him and tried to find out what was wrong. Billie however turned around and made sure the door was closed before putting his arms around Steph again.
‘Maybe you should go change out of those’, he whispered to her like it was a secret.
‘Yeah I’m going to. I’ll see you in a minute’, Steph told him, trying to get out of his grip. He hung on though and lowered his arms so they were around her waist.
‘No its alright. I’ll walk you there’, he whispered again, walking her to her room.
‘You gonna wait out here?’, she asked.
‘Yeah, unless I’m allowed to come in’, he replied. Steph smiled and brought his head down to her again to kiss him gently. This kiss lasted longer. They pulled away slowly.
‘Would you like a hot chocolate then?’, he asked, looking into her eyes. It wasn’t the most romantic question, but it was the only thing he would think of.
‘Yeah. That would be nice’, Steph replied slowly moving into her room, and closing the door behind her.
Billie walked into the kitchen smiling. Mike was in there, with the hot water boiling already.
‘Hot chocolate. 2 right?’, he asked.
‘Yeah, how’d you know?’, Billie asked.
‘Just did’, Mike replied.
‘Is Tre alright?’, Billie asked looking though the kitchen into the lounge.
‘Yeah he’s fine. Just in one of he’s many moods’, Mike told Billie daydreaming away about something.
‘Ahh Mikey the waters boiling’, Billie informed his friend as he walked over to the fridge. Mike noticed and turned off the kettle. He finished making the drinks before they carried them into the lounge. They made themselves comfortable on the couch, and watched tv for a while. Steph came out of her room, eventually in a new dry set of clothes and sat down beside Billie. He put his arm around her almost automatically and she put her head down on his shoulder. At the same time Tre walked out of the room to his bedroom slamming he’s door shut. An hour passed.
‘Maybe I should go see whats wrong with him’, Steph said getting up.
‘No stay here he’s fine’, Billie told her.
‘No really, I’m going to see, stay here’, she told him.
‘Alright, but be quickly, I might get restless with Mike being here’, he joked as she walked off to see Tre.
“What did you say man?’, Mike asked, realizing he’s name was said.
‘Nothing Mike don’t worry’, Billie said laughing.
Steph knocked on Tre’s door. ‘Tre can I come in please?’, she asked. He didn’t answer. She pushed the door open and saw him laying on he’s bed. There was cans off alcohol around him. To many cans. She sat down beside him.
‘You going to tell me whats wrong?’, she asked.
‘Nothings wrong. Just in one of those moods’, he replied.
‘Is it Sarah?’, She asked.
‘Yeah’, he replied snickering.
‘You two aren’t breaking up are you’, Steph asked worryingly.
‘No we already have’, he said continuing to stare up to the ceiling.
‘No way, how come?’, she asked.
‘Don’t know, but when I find out I’ll tell you’, he finished.
‘Alright then’. Steph lent over and gave Tre a hug of reassurance. ‘Your warm’, she said laughing softly. ‘And your freezing, do you want another jumper?’, he asked trying to make the moment last longer. ‘No its fine, I’ve got plenty I just don’t feel cold enough to wear another one’, she replied rubbing he’s back for a minute. He put he’s head on her shoulder and started breathing heavily. It was making Steph nervous. She had to get out of the situation. She didn’t want anything happening. Tre started to move his hands from down her back to her belt bringing them to the front.
‘Oh god somethings going to happen’, Steph thought…....
