Forever Greener, chapter 6
Later that night they had all found themselves at the concert. After hours of argument they were here and they were enjoying every second of it. Sarah and Tina had magically shown up and Billie, to Steph’s surprise and happiness was not stoned. There was cold hearted hatred between Sarah and Tre, so Steph decide to keep watch over them.
‘These guys sound way better live’, Mike said, before the group started rocking to the music.
‘Come on, its 1985. We’re at a Ramones concert. Of course it rocks’, Billie said before he hugged Steph and sung the final verse of Beat on the Brat. [He’s favourite Ramones song].
‘I’m gonna go get a drink, you want something?’, Steph asked him. Surprisingly enough he heard over the music. It was sending people crazy.
‘No I’ll come with you’, Billie said, as they walked over to the bar. A lot of guys were looking at them. Billie kept his arm around his girl to show them she was taken, but still they continued to look.
‘This is weird. All these people are staring’, Steph said as they walked back to the group.
‘Yeah, just don’t worry about them’, he said, taking his can from her and starting to drink.
Everyone was sweating, and the bar was getting busy. Thank god they had gone earlier.
‘You look good tonight’, Billie said to Steph as the band started playing their next song.
‘So do you’, she told him. Someone popped something in his can. No body noticed.
‘Do you want a drink?’, he offered.
‘No its alright’, she said as they started to sing Sheena is a punk rocker together. Billie kept drinking.
Half way through the song, he told Steph he was going out for air. She asked him to stay, but eventually gave up and he walked out. Sarah followed him.
He walked out until he reached the car park. He’s head was spinning and he felt sick. Sarah walked up to him.
‘Hey Billie’, she said flirtingly. He didn’t recognize who it was.
‘Hi’, he replied. He’s head was starting to spin. He placed her arm around him to keep him up.
Meanwhile inside Steph asked Tre if everything was going alright between Sarah and he.
‘Yeah she hasn’t spoken to me. Mike and Tina seem alright. You and Bill are fine. Everything’s cool’, he told her searching the room.
‘Good. I’m happy to hear it’, Steph replied. Slowly they started moving closer to the stage.
‘Don’t you just love Johnny?’, Steph asked ‘He’s such a good guitar player’. Her eyes started spinning.
‘Perhaps you should sit down’, Tre advised. She pushed him away.
‘No I’m fine. It’s a once in a life chance to be this close to the Ramones, I’m not missing it’, she continued.
They went though 4 more songs before Steph realised Billie had been missing for quite some time.
‘Maybe we should go find Billie’, she said to Tre.
‘Yeah come-on I’ll go with you’, he said. Steph took his hand and dragged him outside.
‘Hey where are you two going?’, Mike asked with Tina hanging off him.
‘To find Bill’, Tre told him. Mike nodded and went back to making out with Tina. They walked outside and then walked the perimeter or the club.
‘He’s no where’, Steph told Tre starting to get worried. Tre looked around, and kept her close. Billie had told Tre not to let anything happen to Steph, and he had already let his friend down once, and was not planning on doing so again.
‘What about the car park?’, Tre asked ‘Have you looked there?’.
‘No I haven’t, come lets go check it out’, Steph said, as they walked over together.
They walked behind the bushes and though the small alley way. They froze when they started to hear people speaking.
‘You deserve better’, a familiar voice said.
‘But I love her’, said a slurred voice.
‘But still you deserve better. Whats she ever done to make you feel loved’, said the first voice.
‘But she loves me and I love her’, the second voice continued.
‘It sounds like Sarah and Billie. But why would Billie’s voice be like that?’, Tre asked.
‘He was smoking before we left to come here’, Steph said, suggesting that might be the reason.
‘No he’s never that bad. Its only happened once when he was drugged badly’, Tre said, laying out the facts quite clearly. ‘Did he drink anything?’.
‘Yeah a Coke’, Steph said.
‘Maybe someone spiked it?’, Tre suggested.
‘I don’t know, but I’m going to go get him’, Steph said sharply.
As she turned the corner, Billie and Sarah had locked lips, eyes closed. Sarah’s fingers running though his hair.
‘BILLIE-JOE’, Steph screamed……
