We Are The Kids Of War And Peace, chapter 2
Pippet rushed through the hospital leaving her son at home with Tre to see how Billie Joe was going. She walked into the room Mike and Katty were in. She saw Katty asleep on the bed but Mike was still awake and fine.
"Mikey!", she said out of breath. He smiled at her.
"Hey little Pippet", he replied winking. She took a seat down next to him and smiled.
"You feeling better?", she asked. He smiled and ruffled her hair.
"You made it down here in 11 minutes", he said looking at the wall clock. She smiled.
"Well Tre said it was important", she explained to Mike.
"Oh it is", he told her backing up what Tre had told her.
"What is it exactly?", she asked him biting her lip. Mike smiled and told her to get up.
"Go to room 405", he told her, "I'll be there later". Pippet reluctantly got up and walked herself to the room which was a few doors down the hall. She looked inside the window before she walked into make sure Mike was right with what he had said. She couldn't believe it so she rubbed her eyes again.
"Billie Joe", she whispered to herself as a doctor walked past her.
"Would you like some help ma'am?", he asked. She looked up at him. She shook her head.
"No I was just wondering if I could go in and see my husband?", she asked half smiling. He looked at the clip-board attached to the door.
"Sure, he's been in there a while actually", the doctor told her not being about to finish his sentence before she was already in the room. She stood motionless near the door trying not to wake him.
"Pippet", she heard come from the bed. Her eyes started to swell up and tears slowly came out.
"Billie Joe", she said quietly walking up to the bed. His eyes flicked up and looked at her smiling into hers. She wiped her eyes and sat down beside him holding his hand. He tried to turn to look at her but it was to painful.
"Don't move", she told him pulling her seat closer to the bed. He smiled and held her hand tighter.
"I can't believe this", she told him.
"Neither can I", he said keeping what he sad short but sweet.
"Jared's going to be so happy", she said crying gently.
"Honey don't cry", he told her rubbing her hand gently with his fingers.
"I can't help it", she cried even more, "You don't know what it was like Billie Joe", she explained looking at the heart-monitor. It was steady.
He smiled and closed his eyes.
"I'm so glad you're here", he told her as she rested her head against the side of the bed.
"So am I", she replied closing her eyes. He ran his fingers through her hair and watched her as she gently fell asleep.
-THE NEXT DAY-
"And yeah mommy was really sad but she and uncle Tre took care of me". Pippet woke up to the sound of giggling above her. She opened her eyes and saw Jared sitting up next to Billie Joe.
"So you were alright last night daddy?", Jared asked. Pippet rubbed her eyes and smiled.
"Of course I had your mommy here", he said smiling. Pippet smiled and got up kissing him on the cheek.
"Yeah, I couldn't leave your daddy here alone", she said kissing Billie again.
"EWWW!!! MOM!!", Jared let out backing away from them, "That's yuk!".
"No its not", he said leaning over and giving Jared a kiss on the cheek.
"EWW!! MOM!!", he yelled out before he got hugged by her. After that he stopped.
"What you to old for kisses?", she asked him. He nodded to her smiling.
"But I'm never to old for hugs", he told her falling asleep in her arms.
"That was quick", Billie said hugging them both.
"Just a little", she said kissing Billie again.
"You seem affectionate", he told her smiling.
"Why? I almost lost you. Cant I be affectionate with my husband?", she asked almost in a seductive tone. He smiled and cuddled her.
"You didn't lose me though", he told her nuzzling her gently.
"I almost did", she explained looking into his eyes, "For a while BJ I seriously thought you were gone", he told him starting to almost cry. He hugged her close and let her rest up against me.
"But you didn't lose me, I'm still here and I love you".
"I love you too".
"You mean the world too me".
"You mean even more".
Billie Joe pushed her hair from in front of her face behind her ears and kissed her softly but gently showing in this one kiss how much he cared for her. The two continued to show affection subtlety before they were interrupted.
"Mrs Armstrong, we have your results"... ... ... ... ...
"Mikey!", she said out of breath. He smiled at her.
"Hey little Pippet", he replied winking. She took a seat down next to him and smiled.
