Murder has Secrets, chapter 6

Chapter 6

I arrive at the elevator to find Daniel waiting for me.
"Can I have the results to your search Daniel?" I ask. He hands them to me and I skim over them. The elevator arrives and we step in, I press the lobby button and we start descending.
"... Uh Scarlett? Where are we going?" asks Daniel.
"We are going to... 5853 Bond Boulevard to ask Ms. Kyla Davies what she knows about a silver semi-automatic Glock." I say reading off of Daniel's search results. We reach the lobby and walk to my car.

knock... knock

We wait outside the white bungalow for about a minute before the door opens and a twenty-or-so year old woman appears.
"Yes? Can I help you?" She asks, looking at me and then at Daniel. Her eyebrows raise slightly at the sight of him. I pretend not to notice.
"Hello, I am Detective Tudor and this is Detective Fitzgerald. We're looking for Kyla Davies, is she here?" I say.
"That's me," she says, "What is this regarding?"
"I would be happy to tell you, but it would probably be better if we could come in?"
Kyla looks slightly nervous, but opens the door and ushers us inside.

Once we are sitting comfortably around her kitchen table I begin to explain the circumstances.
"The reason we are visiting you today is because of an incident that occurred three days ago on June 29th in which Billie Joe Armstrong was murdered. The weapon in question is a 1994 semi-automatic Glock. The very same handgun that is registered under your name."
Kyla stares at me in disbelief, which soon changes to annoyance when she looks over at Daniel.
"Are you joking? I would never kill another person! Besides, I was out of town on Saturday. There is no way I could have been anywhere near downtown Sanfran!"
I sit up bolt right in my seat and stare at her. "Who said anything about the whereabouts of this murder?" I ask her slowly.
Her eyes fill with badly concealed fear. "You... mentioned it earlier, I heard you."
"No. Detective Tudor said the day and the victim. Not once did she or I say anything about the place." Says Daniel.
"Daniel! What the fuck are you doing?!" she hisses at him.
"You know her?" I glance quickly around at Daniel, who has a blank look on his face.
"Not at all. You said my name when you introduced me." He says calmly. I know I did no such thing, but I ignore it. This where I need help most.
"Ms. Davies, I would like you to accompany us back my office with your Glock so you can be interviewed." I say, putting a hand on my Smith & Wesson concealed in my jacket as I speak .
"And if I don't?" she asks defiantly.
"Then I get a warrant and have half the police force down here to tear your house apart looking for evidence that proves you killed Mr. Armstrong."
She opens her mouth to protest, but changes her mind and shuts it. Then she speaks again.
"I'll go get my coat...and the gun."
"Daniel, kindly escort Ms. Davies to go and get her gun," I say to Daniel. He nods and follows Kyla into the next room. I wait a few seconds before following Daniel.

I stop outside a door leading to the garage when I hear them arguing quietly.
"Daniel this isn't funny! What do you know that I don't?" hisses Kyla.
"I can't tell you. I'm not sure of all the details myself. Just play along and don't jeopardize our plan like you did back in the kitchen."
Deciding I've heard enough, I move back into the kitchen and wait for the pair to return.

Daniel returns with Kyla by his side and the gun in his hand. He flips it over and holds it out for me. Just as my fingertips reach the end of the gun, Daniel swings it up and smashes the butt into my skull.
"Sorry Dectective. But you needed a taste of your own medicine," he says to my unconscious body.
