Murder has Secrets, chapter 9

"Oi, Tudor, wake yourself up. We've got a surprise for you." Daniel punches me hard in the stomach even though I'm already fully alert.
He walks over to the wall Adie is chained to and waits patiently; for what, I don't know.

"For eleven years my family and others like mine have been searching for the reason to why a loved one was taken by them so unfairly." Says Debbie, "Why it was that they woke up to find their husband or sister or son had not come home that night, that they were in fact, laying in an alleyway somewhere with a bullet hole through their head. Well now that I have you, you can answer those questions and more for a judge and clear your conscience before being locked up for the rest of you life." She paused and grins evilly, "or... you can take the cowards way out and I can shoot you dead here and now, sending you to hell with all your horrible secrets. The tape of this conversation can go to a judge for you. Your choice."
I remain silent. I barely noticed what Debbie was saying as I'm watching Daniel's every movement. He was removing a whip from inside his jacket as Debbie spoke.

After several moments Debbie speaks again. "No answer? Fine. I'll just have to kill you. There's nothing I'd rather see than you getting sent to hell... except maybe seeing you watch helplessly as we torture your sister. Daniel?"
In one quick motion Daniel lashes the whip against Adies' arm. Her scream echos through the large room.
They become no quieter as the day wears on.

It must have been four hours before they stopped. Adie looked horrible. There was not one patch of skin unharmed on my dear sister, and I could only imagine how much blood she had lost. The whole time I sat there, helpless, begging them to stop, begging them to let her go, begging them to cause her no more harm, begging them to inflict all the pain upon me instead. But they did not listen, and I sat there. I sat there for four hours watching Adie slowly die in front of my eyes. Now she lay in a crumpled heap on the floor barely clinging to the last threads of life.
"Hang in there Adie, hunny, you're going to get through this." I call to her.

"She might, but you won't." Comes Debbie's voice from behind me. She walks over and gives Adie a kick, "Well maybe she won't either."
"Don't you touch her you filthy whore!" I yell.
Debbie clicks her tounge. "Such language. But I suppose it doesn't matter how you speak where you are going. Kyla!" she calls the younger woman over and hands her my Smith & Wesson automatic. "In reference to your career choice, won't you do the honors?" As Kylas' hand grips the cold metal of my gun I see fear rise into her eyes.

Rule Twenty-Seven: NEVER have more than a basic relationship with your target.

... that especially means idols.
"Don't keep us waiting all day Davies. Shoot her already!"
Kyla nods and lifts the gun. As she aims for my head I close my eyes, awaiting my fate.
I hear her load the gun.
It clicks.
And I hear it fire.
