Where Is Your Boy Tonight?, chapter 2
Ring!!!!!!
The alarm clock woke me up. I turned over, expecting the noise to go away.
Finally I got my lazy butt up and fixed coffee. I sank dow on the couch and waited for the ring of the coffee maker.
When it did, I went and made a cup and sat back down on the couch. Before I could take the first sip I remembered last nite...
My stomach twisted in knots. I sat the coffee down, figuring if I drank it, I miite throw it up.
I rested my head in my hands. Now what? I guess by instinct I picked up the phone and called Billie Joe.
"Hello?" a cheerful voice said.
"Hi." I said, kind of shy.
"Who is this?" he asked.
"It's me, Kelly." I said.
"Oh, hey!! How are you?!?" he asked.
I had never heard someone so excited to hear it was me except...
"Hi! I'm fine. Look I need to tell you something..."
"What is it?" he said, rather concerned.
"Well, I um... me and Peter are... I think we're over." I said, but somehow wishing I hadn't.
"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. Why'd you guys break up?" Billie Joe asked.
"I guess things just weren't working out." I lied.
"Well I'm sure you guys will be okay." he said.
"Yeah...so you're still not seeing anyone are you?" I asked.
"Not at the moment no...Why?" he said.
I could practically see him at the other end of the line smiling.
"Oh, I was just asking cuz, I dunno, curiosity." I said.
"Okay...well since you and I are both single at the moment how's about I pick you up in a bit for coffee?" he asked.
"Yeah, sure that sounds great." I said half-hearted.
"Kay.See ya in a little bit, then?" he said.
"Yeah." I said."See ya."
"Kay...bye."
"Bye."
I hung up the phone and swallowed. Was this the right thing to do?
I shook my head and rested it on my knees.
This was as frustrating as being on my period...okay WORSE than being on my period.
I rubbed my aching temples.
Now if only there was a way to sooth my aching heart...
I sat up and took my cup to the sink.
If he said he'd be here in a bit, I'd better get showered and stuff, so, yeah.
I turned on the shower and undressed.
*flashback thingy*
"Peter, cut it out, or I'll.."
"You'll what?" he laughed, continuing to tickle me.
"Peter!!!" I laughed. "Stop...It!!!"
A smile plagued his face and I locked eyes with him.
He stopped tickling me but his friendly smile was still there.
He leaned in closer to me and then...
*end of flahback thingy*
I finished washing my hair, hoping I would also wash away that memory.
Turning the knob I got out of the shower and grabbed a towel.
*another flashback thingy*
"Ow!!!! Pete, it hurts!" I said after bumping my knee on the table.
"Well, watch where you're going!" he joked.
Did he think this was funny?
"Pete, I'm being serious...I can't even get up!" I said.
Then I looked at him with my "feel sorry 4 me" face.
He chuckled again and bent down to my level and picked me up--one arm under my legs, the other around my back.
He carried me over to the couch and sat me down.
"Thank you." I said. "Now scratch my back." I turned around.
"Huh? I don't think so." he said.
"DO it! It's your punishment for laughing at me." I said jokingly.
"No, I still picked you up, so you owe ME!" he teased.
"Huh?" i questioned.
Then, with his weight being more than mine, he sat on my lap and commanded:
"YOU scratch MY back!"
I laughed, "PETER!!! get off me you feel like a boulder!"
"Well, at least I'm not named after a barbie thing!" he teased.
"Well at least MY name dosen't sound like a friken cereal!!!"
"Well, then...I'm a tasty cereal." he said.
I laughed. And smiled at him. He smiled his cute but goofy smile.
"So, are you thinking about getting off my lap?" I asked.
He shook his head. "Nope. I'm always gonna be right here."
*end of other flashback thingy*
A car pulled in the driveway and honked.
As I went out the door, I thought to myself:
If I couldn't drn'k that simple coffee earlier, in what parallel universe was I going to be able to drink THIS one?
