We Feel The Same Pain, chapter 1

"Thank God for Cheech Marin."
"Amen."
Mike opened the driver's door to his black BMW and plopped in. Billie sat next to him, and Tre sat in the back.
"I hate being the designated driver."
"Oh come on, we take turns." Billie mumbled, while messing with his cell phone.
"Yeah, okay," offered Mike, sarcastically. "Once and a while you offer to drive after you've already had three drinks. And you Tre, never."
"Yeah I do!"
"Sure... "
"Shut up!"
Mike chuckled as they started away from the bar. He sighed as they caught every red light and got behind every night-owl, slow-driving senior citizen on the way to Billie's house.

Mike finally pulled into Billie's driveway, and after some muttered goodbyes, drove off to take Tre home. Billie walked up the path and unlocked the door, smiling as he heard Tre yell something out the window from half-way down the street.
"I'm home, Adrienne."
Silence.
"Adie?"
"Upstairs."
Billie grinned as he started slowly up the stairs, unbuttoning his shirt the whole way. He fixed his hair and teeth as he crept slyly into his and Adie's room. Adrienne was laying in bed reading when he came in. She wore flannel pajama pants and an old t-shirt, clearly not having the same idea as her husband.
"Hey there my little... old lady?"
She stuck her tongue out at him. "So what did you guys do?"
Billie started to grasp reality and change into his pajamas. "Uh, we drank and just talked over some things, you know?"
"Cool. That sounds fun." Adrienne closed her book and laid down, leaving the light on for him.
"Aww, hun you look tired. You didn't have to wait up for me." He laid down next to her and kissed her forehead.
"It's okay, I wanted to see you. Goodnight, sweetheart."
"Goodnight," He kissed her again. "I love you."
"I love you, too."
Billie drifted off to sleep, even before Adrienne did.
