We Feel The Same Pain, chapter 3
Adrienne and Billie sat reading the paper and drinking coffee when Tre burst through the door in his usual fashion.
"Hey guys!"
"Come to eat our food?" Billie asked as he stood in anticipation.
"You bet."
"I saved you some."
"Thanks." Tre smiled at Billie and slapped his butt playfully. Adie chuckled.
"Not in front of her... " Billie whispered loudly through his devilish grin, playing along with Tre.
"Oh. I see how it is." Tre pretended to cry as he sat down with his food.
"Boys, enough. Besides, Tre, what about us?" She stroked his chest. She couldn't help but join them this time.
Billie shook his head. "I'm gonna go shower. You're both welcome to join me. Mwwahaha!"
"Thanks but no thanks," Tre mumbled to Billie, mouth filled with eggs, as he watched him start up the stairs.
Adrienne took a seat. "So Tre, what's new?"
"Eh, not much." He took a sip of juice then wiped his mouth with the sleeve of his shirt. "Ramona's coming to visit tomorrow."
"Aww, that's great." Adie remembered how long it had been since he had seen her. She felt sorry for him.
"Yeah, I just hope I don't have to talk to Lisea."
"She's coming too?"
"Oh hell no, but she calls about every five minutes to make sure I haven't killed the kid. I'll just make Claudia answer. That would be super sufficiently awkward. Or maybe Frankie... "
Adrienne chucked as he plotted, sipping her coffee. "How are those two?"
"Frankito's gone for the day with his little friend and his parents. Claude's at work."
"Oh, well you can stay here. Why spend the day alone?" She peered around him at the clock. 1:30. "Or, what's left of it... "
"Thanks, Adie." He got up to put his plate in the sink, then started for the couch.
"Hey Tre,"
He turned back towards her, "Yeah?"
"Have you heard... um... has Billie Joe ever... has he complained about any headaches to you lately?" She sighed, happy she had finally spit it out.
"Sorry, have I been banging too loud?" He congratulated himself on a superb double entendre.
"Ha ha, but no. He's just worrying me."
"Well, we were drinking last night. I drank more than he did though."
She sighed. "That's what he said."
"Maybe it's tension, I mean, he does freak out sometimes."
"No, he wasn't acting that way... but when's the last time he had an attack, did he have one when you guys were gone?"
Tre squinted, thinking. "Um... Oh wait, yeah. A long time ago. Mike calmed him down though. He was okay." He stepped closer, putting a comforting arm on her shoulder. "Maybe it's him you should call. He has that problem, too."
Adie smiled as best as she could. "Thanks Tre. I will."
"No problem, Adie. And I'll keep an eye on him. Try not to worry, okay?"
"I'll try." Tre pulled Adrienne into a soft hug, kissing her cheek.
"Thanks again."
Tre smiled at her as he walked away slowly, as if thinking the whole way.
