The following day in the hospital.
"Morning, David!" said Adi as cheerily as possible.
"Hey! How's it goin'?" replied David.
"We're all good! You?" said Billie as he walked in.
"Me? Oh, the usual, lazing in a hospital, watching tv, eating and gaining weight I REALLY don't need," came the reply.
"Hey, where's Mike?" said David again.
"Buying coffee I think..." said Billie.
"Actually, I'm right here if you'd please open the door for me..." said Mike. Billie laughed and opened the door revealing Mike who looked terrible.
"WOAH! What happened?" said David.
"Winds are strong and I havent had coffee and I'm really tired for some weird reason AND I'm carrying all this stuff ADI insisted on bringing for you. Notice the emphasism I put on the name ADI!" said Mike in an irritated tone. He took a swig of coffee and started to look like Mike again. There was something about regular coffee dirnkers. Where they never look themselves until they've had coffee. In my opinion anyway...
The doctor walked in just as Mike finished talking. "Good Morning all!! Infact, it actually IS a really GOOD morning today. One of you ask me why please!" he said.
"Eh...why?" said Billie.
"Because my dear people, David can be discharged in two weeks! But only if he sticks to hospital rules while he is still here." I suddenly felt a surge of energy and felt like screaming my lungs out in happiness. But I held back after seeing the look on Adi's face. It was sort of a warning look. Then she nodded towards the doctor again. So I looked at him only to feel a sudden overwhelming sadness. His expression was so happy yet utterly sad at the same time. And the sadness was unbearable. So I said a quick thank you for all his hard work and that I would owe him forever. He seemed a little relieved to be able to leave. I wondered was bothering him. There was an akward silence and I gussed that all of us noticed his weird expression.
Finally Adi broke the silence by simply saying, "I wonder what was on his mind."
"I don't think I want to know really," said Billie.
"Neither do I. But you gotta admit it makes you wonder what he could've been thinking about don't it," said Mike.
"I've never seen a more transparent person," was all I could say. Suddenly I felt the need to be alone. ALL alone. I needed to cry. And it hit me so hard I almost screamed these two words,
"GET OUT!" Naturally I regretted it because it almost immediatly revealed truly hurt looks on all three of their faces. It actually scared me to tell you the truth. I quickly apologised and said I didn't mean it but they appeared to be stoned. Until finally Mike said,
"I'm hungry, you guys wanna go get something to eat? I'm sure you'll be fine won't you David?" I nodded slowly. All three of them practically ran out of the room.
Elsewhere, a growling voice was heard by a weak middle-aged man. "He'd better have some anwsers tomorrow! Considering the fact we now know he has a son and we're watching young David at all times..." The man's heart leaped. David is still alive! All is not yet lost!
