Melissa heard a car in the drive and froze, was it Adie and the boys? Oh god she had half brothers what would they think? She got up and opened her bedroom door to listen to the hall but there was no ring of the doorbell or knock on the door was it her imagination? She walked over to her window to look down into the drive and a car that seemed familiar to her was sat there but who was it?
Tre sat in Billie's drive in his car froze, he hadn't thought past getting to Billie's house what would he do or say to her? He kept going through that night and the events that had taken place.
Mike, Billie and Adrienne walked out the room but Tre stayed there sitting on her bed.
"Urm...Tre aren't you going?" laughed Melissa.
"Can...I, urm, take you to the party?" he said blushing again.
"Ok then," Melissa ran over to him and hugged him.
"Pick me up at 7:30?"
"See you then," with that Tre walked out the door.
He remembered that moment when he had asked her to go to the party together he had always been fond of Melissa and had hated to see her cry or look sad he wanted to cheer her up and it had felt good when he saw her face light up, he just wanted to help the little girl he had helped baby-sit and make up for the time they had lost.
Melissa was dressed in a black and red striped top, black knee length skirt, fish nets and her red high tops, she was just finishing her eyeliner when the door bell rang, she went to answer it because her parents were already at Billie's.
"Hey," she smiled at Tre who was dressed in a black shirt, trousers, blazer and black and white striped tie. He was holding a single red rose.
"Wow," he said giving her the red rose.
"Come in I still have my hair to do."
He stepped in and closed the door, he went and sat on the sofa, Melissa sat next to him uncurling her bendy curlers, and she was having problems with the one at the back.
"Here let me," said Tre unravelling it for her.
"Thanks," she said looking at his electric blue eyes, "let me go get this sorted and then I'll get my jacket and we can go."
That night the way she looked he then knew that she wasn't that little girl anymore she had grown up. He smiled when he had helped her with her hair, her beautiful long brown hair, and she had looked straight into his eyes. Whoa, what was he thinking, no not Melissa he can't like Melissa not again he had tried to get over her.
"There you are," said Tre from the doorway.
"Here I am," she giggled, "Come with me will you Tre."
She held his hand and led him to the bathroom and locked the door behind them. She kissed him and immediately felt his arousal rubbing her leg, he took her top off and stopped.
"Jesus look at them bruises," said Tre.
"Yeah my dad did them," Melissa slurred and then realised what she said.
"Oh God," Tre hugged her now feeling sad and not in the mood, she burst into tears in his arms.
"Well that's it, he will stop," said Tre angrily.
He ran downstairs followed by Melissa, he approached Billie and told him about what has happened to Melissa.
"My God," he said angrily but also he felt guilty she was right he had left her and broken his promise if he was around he would of kept her safe.
"Alen, can we talk?"
"Sure," Alen slurred.
"What in hells name have you done to your daughter?" Billie shouted while Tre held Melissa in his arms again, Mike was stood firmly beside Billie, Melissa was like his own niece to him.
All three members of Green Day were so angry wanting to beat the shit out of him.
"She's not my daughter," said Alen.
"What?" asked Billie getting more angry with his fists clenched.
"You promised me Alen," shouted Clare.
"What? Who's the father?" asked Billie.
"YOU, you bastard," shouted Alen throwing his fist towards his younger brother but being stopped by Mike.
"No," shouted Melissa running out the door and into the darkness.
Tre cringed that moment he had wanted to hold her and protect her from the world why had this happened to her, first the bruises had shocked him how could someone do that to a child? He would never lay a finger on Frankito or Ramona he loved them more than anything in the world. Then the truth came out he had just looked at Billie and wanted to help him beat Alen to a pulp but on the other hand he was holding Mel and wanted to protect her, but in the end it had been her that had been hurt the most in the world, her heart broken in to pieces, her world turned upside down and now here somewhere in Billie Joe's House Melissa was so close and all he wanted to do was either hold her tight or run away he wasn't sure what he wanted to do but one thing he did know was he needed her.
Melissa walked down the stairs and looked for Billie he was sat in the kitchen with a cup of coffee and just staring into space.
"I'm sorry Bil...Dad," said Melissa, "I just need time to get used to the idea and I don't know what its liked to be loved so just bear with me?"
Billie nodded his head and got up walking towards her he then cupped her cheek saying "Mel I love you, you're my daughter and I will wait and help you adjust ok we will work through this together ok?" He pulled her into a hug and a tear trickled down his cheek his little girl was home
