Words I might have ate, chapter 2
Evan fought back the tears as she stood behind the door clutching Tre's drumsticks to her chest. She saw David coming so she figured she should go in before it seemed suspicious. Walking in she tossed Tre his drumsticks.
"They were right where I said they would be." She said smiling, trying to act normal.
"Thanks babe." Tre said. "Evan, are you okay you look like you've been crying."
"Oh no, I'm fine. The air outside, it just messed with my contacts." Evan replied sitting in a chair by Billie Joe's guitar.
"Oh okay." Tre said absently.
David came in accompanied by Mike, "Okay guys five minutes."
They all nodded. Mike walked over to his bass and noticed Evan's sad expression.
"EC have you been crying?" Mike asked.
"Um, no. It's just my, um, contacts." Evan replied.
"Okay... " Mike said. "EC you don't wear contacts." He whispered as he leaned forward so only she could hear him. She looked up sadly. "I know."
"Okay, time to go." David said poking his head in through the door.
As all the guys stood up to leave Evan stood up to give them all the usual hug. First was Mike. "We have to talk later EC." He whispered. Evan nodded.
Then it was Tre Evan gave him a hug and turned her head when he tried to kiss her. "I love you." He said as he let go. "Yeah." Evan mumbled.
Billie Joe hung back a little while and waited for the rest to go out on stage. Then he walked up to Evan. Before he even got close enough for a hug Evan whispered, "I know." Billie Joe nodded and pulled her into a tight hug, "I know." He said kissing the top of her head. Evan felt a tear fall down her cheek as she let him go. Billie Joe smiled, "It'll be okay." Evan nodded, "Yeah." Billie Joe walked up the stairs to the stage, "And Ev's, I know you don't wear contacts." He said smiling then he left to do what he did best. Evan laughed. She made her way out into the crowd and saw two of her friends Justin and KiKi. She smiled as she walked up.
"Hey look who it is!" Justin said handing Evan a beer.
"Hey Ed! How have you been?" KiKi said giving her a hug.
"I'm alright, not the best but I'm okay." Evan said sitting down.
"Well, lets make it the best tonight!" Justin said sitting down.
"Justin you dumbass." KiKi said laughing. "That does sound good though, how 'bout it Ed. Let's celebrate for finally seeing each other after a long time. " She said holding her bottle up to Evan.
"Okay." Evan said grinning as she knocked her bottle against KiKi's.
"Whoo, girl we have some good shit tonight! " KiKi said smiling as Justin handed her a blunt.
"When we're together we always have good shit." Evan said pulling a sack out of her pocket then taking out her wallet which always contained two joints and some tin foil and, at the moment, a strawberry blunt roll.
"Hell yeah!" Justin said taking everything Evan had just handed him.
From their corner Evan could smoke and watch Billie Joe go ballistic on stage in his oh so sexy way. KiKi noticed how much of an interest Evan had taken in the show.
"So how are you and Tre doing?" KiKi asked after their fourth beer and second joint.
"He's cheating on me." Evan said casually as she rolled another blunt.
"What? You're kidding, right?" Justin butted in.
"No I heard him tell Billie Joe before the show." Evan said.
"Aw Ed I'm so sorry." KiKi said lighting up the blunt Justin had rolled earlier.
"Ah, it's fine. I don't even care now I've got you guys and Mike... and BJ." Evan said smiling.
Justin looked over at KiKi, "Is there something you're not telling us Ed?" KiKi asked cocking and eyebrow.
"Heh Well it's a secret. Between me and a, uh," Evan looked toward the stage, " Special person."
"Alright! Go Evan!" Justin said hi-fiving Evan. KiKi smiled. "You dumbass Justin... ." She mumbled as she hit the blunt.
After passing the blunt to Justin KiKi turned back to Evan, "Hey Ed, you ever try these?" she said holding up a bag of pills.
"I dunno what are they?" Evan said taking the blunt from Justin.
"Zan-bars." Justin replied.
"No, I've never tried them. Since I've been with Tre he won't let me try new stuff." Evan said.
"Fuck him! Here take two, it's just like taking four Zanex and you've had those before. They're pretty good, and as high and drunk as we are, we're gonna be fucked up." KiKi said grinning.
Evan smiled, "Hell yes!"
The show had ended and another band was playing now. Billie Joe was keeping an eye out for Evan when Tre approached him.
"Hey man, what do you think I should do with Evan?" Tre said.
"Well, I don't know man, what do you mean?" Billie Joe replied.
"I mean like should I tell her or should I break up with her or should I just not tell her and keep on or what?" Tre said.
"Well I definitely think you need to either tell her or stop seeing Sammi, and I know how you are dude. So, if you can't stop seeing Sammi then you guys need to break up, because that's not right." Billie Joe said.
"Yeah, I guess you're right." Tre said looking down. " I think I love her." He said.
"What? Dude you're cheating on her how can you call that love?" Billie Joe said.
"I don't know, but I guess I've got some thinking to do. I need to find her so I can at least talk to her." Tre said as Mike walked up looking highly pissed.
"Have you guys seen my fucking sister anywhere?" He said.
"No, I saw her walk that way during the show." Tre said pointing across the room as Billie Joe handed Mike a beer.
"Why what's the matter Mike?" Billie Joe said.
"Jake just told me that KiKi chick is here with his brother Justin, you know the girl Evan always gets in trouble with. I don't like that girl dude she into some bad shit. And somehow her and Evan always seem to find each other." Mike said looking around the room.
"Oh I hate that fucking dude Justin. I told Evan I didn't ever want her around him again." Tre said.
"KiKi... Oh KiKi! Isn't that the girl who had to go to rehab for cocaine and ex at the same time?" Billie Joe said now becoming slightly worried.
Mike nodded, " Yeah, and I'm going to kick Evan's ass if she's doing some stupid shit. Wait, Tre why aren't you with Evan? Usually you guys are inseparable. "
"She wasn't backstage after the show like she usually is, so I haven't been able to find her." Tre replied taking a drink from his beer.
'Didn't seem like you were really looking hard... ' Billie Joe thought as he looked around the room for any sight of Evan.
"Hey guys, how's it going?" Kate said walking up obviously as fucked up as them.
"Heeey, how's is going?" Justin slurred.
"Ah, one of my favorite people! Where ya been?" KiKi said hugging Kate.
"Here and there, ya know. So what do you guys have tonight? Oh hey Evan long time no see." Kate said sitting next to Evan.
"Hey, tonight seems like a reunion huh?" Evan said laughing.
"Yeah, I guess it does." KiKi said, " But we've got some Zan-Bars and some grass and beer."
"Oh that's cool. Hey KiKi how was rehab?" Kate said pulling a bag out of her pocket.
"Fucked." KiKi said smiling," What do you have for me?"
"Anything you need." Kate said smiling lazily. KiKi grinned, "Great."
"What is that?" Evan said as Kate passed the bag of pills to KiKi.
"Ecstasy." KiKi replied, " Ever tried it? It's great."
"No, I don't think I really want to." Evan said, even if she was fucked up she still remembered how freaked out she was when she heard what it did to your body.
"Aw come on Evan you gotta at least try it once." Justin said as Kate passed him the bag.
"No, I don't think so." Evan said.
"So how's your man Evan?" Kate said changing the subject, which is why Evan liked her. She wasn't into pushing people to try things they didn't want to try and Evan respected her for it.
"He's a cheating bastard." KiKi cut in as she popped two pills into her mouth and downed them with beer.
"I'm sorry Evan." Kate said pulling another bag out of her pocket.
"Eh, it's no big deal. I've got better things to look forward to." Evan smiled.
"Well, this will make you feel like you're in heaven if you wanna try it." Kate said holding up the bag of white power.
Evan knew what that was, and she knew she shouldn't. Tre had told her never to do that, but right then she wanted to do anything in spite of him.
"Sure." Evan replied smiling.
