The Most Abnormal Summer of My Life, chapter 1

Tracie sighed. Why the fuck did her parents have to crash through that red light? if they didn't, the truck wouldn't have hit them. And Mom, Dad, and Harry wouldn't have died. Tracie was glad she didn't go with them. she thought back to the day...

"Tracie! We're leaving now to go pick up the pizza!" mom called. Tracie had rolled her eyes and said, "I'm not coming. Crap, I just got on the phone with Val and Tina. Just go without me!" so they did. The last thing Tracie ever heard Harry say was, "Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere weeeeeeeeeeeeee gooooooooooooooooooo!" as the car pulled away, and the last thing she heard dad say was," Yup, Harry, here we go!" Tracie talked to Val and Tina for five more minutes, then they all hung up. Ten minutes after that, the phone rang again. "Val probably had some juicy secret she forgot to tell me," she muttered aloud. But on caller ID, the phone said, "Police Dept." Tracie was scared. Had she broken the law or something? she picked it up and answered in her most grownup voice. "Yes?" she said. A gruff, deep man's voice came from the receiver "is this the Green Residence?" the voice asked. Tracie answered again in her grownup voice. "Yes, it is, how can I help you?" The man responded without hesitation. "Is this Tracie Green?" he asked. "Yes!" replied Tracie. She was so nervous, she broke into a sweat. "We would like to inform you that your relatives have had a car crash. It has proved fatal. By the end of this week, you will be sent to live with some relatives in California while we deal with some legal business." Tracie started sobbing. "oh Fuck! Not Mom! Not Dad! oh nononononono! Tell me it isn't true," the police officer, who sounded like he was used to it, said, "i am sorry, miss, but this is true. Later, Officer Cathy will be by to tall you of your new guardians. Until then, you are property of the state." Tracie, deep in shock, had hung up.

Now tomorrow, she was on her way to California, to live with probably her most unrelated relatives on planet earth. Again, the phone rang, and Tracie picked it up. "um, hi," said Ashlay. Tracie responded back. "hi, Ashlay," Ashlay hesitated, then asked, "any news of your new brother?" Tracie sadly answered. "yup, he has 2 things that caught my eye. 1. an attitude, and 2. a band." Ashlay seemed to perk up. "1. what kind of attitude, and 2. what's his band called?" Tracie rolled her eyes. her mother had once told her that not even a ball moving downhill rolled as much as her eyes did. "1. a 'fuck everything that doesn't suit me' attitude, and 2. sweet children or something." Ashlay asked, "Age?" Tracie knew what was coming. "18," she sighed. Ashlay exploded. "Fuck! 18??? That's just a year older than you! And you're so far apart you can get married! Hell! and-an-an-and..." Tracie had expected that. "I hope not. Bye, I gotta go." "Bye," said Ashlay. Tracie hung up. Ashlay hung up. Tracie sighed. Boy, was she gonna miss LA!

"But WHY???" Billie Joe exploded, "Shit, I never wanted another sister!" an apple was handily within his reach, so he threw it. Sweeping a glass viciously off the table, he put his head down and sighed. His mother tried a softer approach. "Billie, honey, we-" But Billie Joe didn't let her finish. he tore up a magazine, stormed to the stairs, and stomped up into his room, yelling after him, "To hell with all girls!"
