Love lasts not only in life but in death, chapter 8
"Are you sure?"
When Buffy nodded, he tucked her back in and kissed her forehead then walked out, glancing back before shutting the door. Jem stood at the top of the stairs.
"What happened?"
"Buffy said Adrienne was watching Sammy and put his pillow over his head."
Jem let her grip go on the banister and stared at Billie.
"I'm going to kill her!" Jem said through clenched teeth.
She started to run downstairs, closely followed by Billie Joe. She slammed open the door and grabbed Adrienne by the throat. She pinned her up against the wall "I know what you did."
Billie tried to release Jem's hold on her but failed miserably.
"I want you out of our house and our lives now. You have 10 minutes to get your stuff then you're gone."
Jem let go of her and stepped back. Adrienne held onto her neck as she stared at Billie.
"Are you going to let her talk to me like that?"
Billie bowed his head.
"Did you know your husband nearly kissed me tonight?" She moved her gaze to Jem.
"No I did not know that. But I do know that you tried to kiss him and he told you to back off."
"Is that what he told you?"
"He didn't tell me anything I was there. I seen and heard everything. Now get your stuff, fuck off and die."
Jem stormed out of the room and into the living room.
"God. Why can't my life be normal and happy?" she mumbled to herself.
"What was that hun?"
"Oh, nothing."
10 minutes later, Adrienne walked past, suitcase in hand.
"Keys." Billie shouted.
A thud was heard then Jem walked out. The keys lay on the floor and Adrienne stood by the door. She glanced back and saw Billie Joe holding Jem tight.
"Have a happy life," she said as she turned around and walked out of their lives.
"We will," Jem whispered, looking up into Billie's green eyes.
Several weeks had past since Gerard's funeral and Adrienne's parting. Jem's life was slowly getting better. She had forgotten about Adrienne but never about Gerard. She had stopped grieving and learned to cry on the inside instead. Green Day were now the best thing since sliced bread and were away touring or promoting every few months. Billie Joe and Jem could not be any more in love. Jess and Tre had announced they were getting married on Christmas Day. Mike was involved in a steady relationship with a girl named Nicole. She was very sweet but a bit weird, but she made Mike happy which is what matters. Green Day were away touring which meant Jem and Jess could plan the wedding.
Tre had asked Billie and Mike to be best men because he couldn't choose. Jem was bridesmaid with Buffy and Hannah. Jess's dress was a ball-gown style with a long train.
"He'll love it." Jem told her reassuringly.
When Tre asked Billie Joe and Mike he said to Billie "the best man always gets laid with the bridesmaid." Billie laughed, also joined by Mike.
The wedding was in 2 weeks and everyone was really nervous especially Jess. The guys were away touring and were due back next week. Their new album Dookie was really successful and going 10X platinum and they were already writing their next album. Greeny had turned out like his father - stupid and immature but had the characteristics of Jess. The girls were out getting the final preparations for the wedding sorted and all the kids were at school.
At 3pm Jem dropped Jess off with the shopping and went to pick her kids up. Buffy came running up to Jem and hugged her tightly. Jem knew something was wrong so bent down and stared into her deep brown eyes.
"What's wrong B?"
"Some kid was saying stuff about you and daddy."
"What did they say?"
"They said you're only with him because he's famous and has loads of money and you never wanted us and that your glad Gerard died."
"Honey, I love your daddy very much and of course I wanted you. You are all so special to me and I love you loads. I never wanted Gerard to die. Do you know I still cry at night and think about him."
Buffy looked up at her mother, a tear rolling down her face. Buffy wiped her mothers taer away and smiled.
"I love you too mummy."
