My encounter with Green Day, chapter 1

Jessica, Pam and I sat in the car patiently. We were driving to Vancouver to see the Green Day concert. We had won tickets on the radio station in Williams Lake and we had to go there and check into the hotel. We were so stoked. In 7 short hours we would be moshing to the greatest band EVER. We were all chatting away when I noticed a plane flying overhead and pointed.
"Look at that plane. Think they are in it?"
"Oh, my god. Ye-." "HAND." I interrupted.
"I'm bored. TRISTA I AM BORED... ENTERTAIN ME!" Pam whined.
"Meh."
"JESSIE."
"Wait. I brought my walkman. And I have speakers." I realized. I pulled it out and plugged in the speakers. "What CD guys?"
"American Idiot, DUH."
"No, Dookie." They glared at each other. "Well, seeing as it is the American Idiot Tour... " I put in American idiot and cranked it as much as I could on a Discman. "DON'T WANNA BE AN AMERICAN IDIOT!" We all screamed out the window, even my mom sang along. "DUDES, WE ARE GONNA SEE GREEN DAY. WE ARE! OH MY GOD!" I screamed. The realization of what was happening hadn't quite set in.
"Oh, sorry guys. Had a teenie moment."
"I can't wait to see the hotel."
"Do you think they will be staying there? It is right beside GM Place." Jessie stated. "Dude. That'd be awesome, and like, if Billie went around drunk and naked knocking on doors at 4:30 in the morning." I laughed. "Dude, we'd see Billie's banana." Pam laughed. I cringed, "Don't remind me PLEASE." Jessie cringed too, "I really hope that picture was fake." "Yeah. That was kind of TRAMATIZING." We all laughed and looked out our windows, all thinking about what would happen tonight.

We had all fallen asleep within half an hour and when I woke up the others were still asleep.
"Where are we?"
"We will be there in about twenty minutes." My mom answered. "Ok then. Pam. Wake up. I am bored now. Wake up." I sung, 'Waiting' style, while shaking her awake.
"MEH."
"We are almost there." She sprang up, "Billie!" I laughed a bit.
"Should we wake up Jessie?" "Nah." We chatted for a while and before we knew it, we were entering Burnaby.
"So how far away is our hotel?"
"About twenty minutes." Mom laughed. "Great. JESS WAKE UP." Pam and I woke her up and we all talked about what we were gonna do at the concert.
"I'm gonna run on stage and pants Billie." Jessie laughed.
"I'm gonna try and play knowledge and fail and Billie's gonna have to help me." I laughed.
Finally we got to the hotel and checked in. We were bringing up our stuff and chatting about if Green Day were here.
"Dude, we should go and knock on random doors." Jessie suggested, "Or we could just go to the front desk and ask if they are staying here." "Oh, yeah, that'd be better." We got to our room and it was huge.
"So, we all get separate beds right?"
"Yeah. Two rooms. 57 and 59."
"Ok, well me and Pam will share a room and you and mom can." I told Jessie.
"Why do I have to share with mom?"
"' Cause Pam is my friend."
"Fine, be that way."
"Mom. We are gonna go hang out in our room."
"Ok, don't you dare go knocking on random doors though." She laughed.
"We won't." All three of us walked into the next room over. "Dudes. DUDE, WE ARE GONNA SEE THEM TONIGHT... In... HOLY CRAP FOUR HOURS? I CAN'T WAIT THAT LONG!" Jessie exclaimed.

Two hours later everyone was scrambling to get ready. I threw on my Green Day tee and some eyeliner. I brushed my hair and teeth. Jessie put on a nametag she had made earlier and it was all designed.
"What is that for?" I asked her. "So Tré knows my name." She smiled. "Pam you ready?" I called "Yeah." She came out in her brand new Green Day tee she had gotten the week before.
"Oh, yeah. We look good." I joked. We all left the building started chatting. Walking over to GM Place was easy because our hotel was right beside it. We were there like two hours early. We could have stayed at the hotel and just walked over later but we were too excited.

We talked and joked around for the remaining hours. When the doors finally opened we all ran in. We got some of the best seats and we stood there for a while waiting as the people packed in. I was so excited. I was going to see Billie Joe, live. Me, I was. I was so happy; I couldn't wait for the show to start. When the lights dimmed down and the first performance by Jimmy Eat World started. We all chatted away about when Green Day would come on. Jimmy Eat World ended and we all held our breath. A bunch of techies came out to set up the equipment as a giant pink bunny was out on stage and then, out walked a short, brown haired man. He slowly walked to the drum kit and sat down. He leaned over to the microphone, "Holy shit, what a fucking big crowd." Everyone cheered. Another man walked out and picked up a guitar on the right of the stage. Then out walked a tall brown haired man. He walked over and picked up the bass, "Hey, what do you all think of having a giant orgy? Yeah, right in the mosh there. Everyone can join!" He laughed. And then it happened. Out he walked in the flesh, his hair was perfect and his clothes were tucked in and all neat, "How's everyone doin' out there?" He yelled out as he reached the microphone, swinging the guitar over his shoulder. Everyone screamed out.

"We're gonna start out with a song about all the fucking politics in America, A'right?" Again, everybody screamed. He started up American Idiot and I almost melted. He was about 5 meters away and I was dying to jump on stage and attack him. By the end of the song he had managed to jump up on the amp right in front of us. I looked up and almost fainted. 'I swear he just looked at us! No, god I am messed up. ' I went back to moshing as he jumped of the amp and finished.
"Ok, this next one's named Jesus of Suburbia!" He yelled and started playing the song. Pam, Jessie and I sang along. They went right into Holiday after that, then Boulevard of Broken Dreams before stopping again.
"Ok, we are gonna do an oldie and one of my personal favorites." I was confused for a moment but I screamed out with half the crowd as that unforgettable bass line played.
"I sit around and watch the tube but nothin's on.
I change the channels for an hour or two. C'MON!" Billie sang out. I scream-sang the words out as the song went on. I was so happy.

After Longview, Billie kind of just stood there for a second. "So, I see you're all having fun. Well, for one lucky man in the audience, it's about to get funner." He smiled into the microphone and my heart fluttered. How I desperately wished to be that man. He picked some teenager from the audience and had him come on stage. He turned to him and frenched him. "Oh. My. GOD!" Pam screeched. I laughed and all Jessie said was, "Hot."

By the end of the show they had played St. Jimmy, Whatsername, Homecoming, Wake Me up When September Ends (I cried), Gotten someone else to play Knowledge, Time of Your Life, Brainstew/Jaded and a few more old ones. The best part was coming though. We had VIP. We were gonna meet them. God, there was never a better moment in my life.
