My encounter with Green Day, chapter 14
The next thing I knew I was laying in a hospital bed vomiting. The nurse came over and held my hair out of my face. I thanked him and he sat down beside the bed. "Miss, I need you to tell me where you are from, we can't find your wallet."
"I live with my boyfriend and his kid." I told him where exactly we lived and our phone number.
"I have to go phone your boyfriend and tell him what happened."
"Please don't tell him to come down here."
"Okay ma'am."
He left the room and I sat, waiting for him to come back.
When he did, it was with a doctor.
"Miss. Dosser, I am doctor Ross. I want you to tell me what happened."
"I got drunk and passed out on the street."
"Well, I want to know why. Are you an alcoholic?"
I glared at her, "No. Of course not. What kind of doctor are you?"
"I'm a psychiatrist."
"Fuck, I hate psychiatrists."
"Please. I am here to help you. Now, we found a cut on your cheek that was there before your fall. Does your boyfriend ever hit you?"
I stared at her, appalled that she would even think that about Billie Joe. "No. He does not. I fell down the stairs today, that's it."
She nodded and pursed her lips.
I ignored her for a second and turned to the nurse, "What did my boyfriend say?"
"He is on his way."
"Fuck, why didn't you say I didn't want him coming."
"I did but he insisted that he be here."
"Is there a reason you don't want him here?" Dr. Ross asked.
"Yeah, I don't want him to see me as a sick, drunk that passed out on the street at two in the morning."
"Here, let's get you cleaned up." The nurse, who I later found out, was named Calvin, said.
I nodded and he helped me into the washroom, leaving Ross sitting beside the bed alone.
I came out a while later, cleaned up to find that the stupid doctor was still there.
"Miss. Dosser, I think it is a good thing your boyfriend is coming. I can ask him a few questions."
"You will not ask him anything, can you please just leave?"
"Why is it so important that I leave?"
"Ugh, fine, stay. You will see that we have no problems at home."
"Good."
Just then the door swung open and Billie and Jakob walked in. They walked over and sat beside the bed, opposite Dr. Ross.
"Hey." I said.
"Hi." Billie replied dryly.
"Mr. Armstrong, I am Dr. Ross. I am a psychiatrist. I would like to ask you a few questions."
"About?"
"Well, the fact that your girlfriend was forced to go to a bar and drink her worries away."
"Is that what she told you?"
"You lying bitch! I didn't say anything like that!"
"Settle down Miss. Dosser." She said sternly, some of her grey hair falling out of its neat bun and into her face.
"She was not forced out. She left without telling anyone."
"And how does this make you feel?"
"Angry."
"What do you want to do?"
"What does this have to do with anything?" He asked, eyeing her suspiciously.
"There is an unusual cut on Miss. Dosser's face. We are just trying to figure some things out. Mr. Armstrong, I wanted you to know that if you don't love your girlfriend you don't have to hurt her."
"He isn't"
"Please, Miss. Dosser. I would like to hear from him."
Billie just sat there staring at her shocked.
"You can just let her leave. Or if you have problems with anger, there are anger management courses and Tijitsu classes to help you use the built up energy for something a little more productive."
"You, you think I hurt her?" He asked.
"Well, did you?"
"No. I didn't touch her."
"What about the cut, on her face?"
"That is from the fucking railing! She fell down the stairs." Jakob suddenly lashed out.
She turned her attention to him, "Have you ever hit her?"
"No one has hit me, okay? Stop blaming other people! I fell down the stairs. Can I just fucking go home?"
"I will go get doctor Flint. Dr. Ross, may I escort you out?" Calvin asked, obviously seeing that I was getting irritated.
She stood up and left in a huff and Calvin followed her out. I looked over at Billie who was still in shock.
"I'm sorry she was like that, I told her you never hit me or anything... "
"I think I will go home now." He said, standing. "Jakob are you coming?"
"Nah, I'm gonna stay here until the doctor comes."
"Okay. Here is enough for a taxi." He tossed Jakob some money.
"See you at home."
"I live with my boyfriend and his kid." I told him where exactly we lived and our phone number.
