My encounter with Green Day, chapter 20
A minute later Billie came in the door.
"Hey babe, how are you doing?" He asked, kneeling beside the bed.
"It hurts. A lot." I groaned.
"It's okay. Just hold on. You can do it."
"Uhn, it really, really hurts." I stared to cry.
"It's okay; it'll be all over soon." Billie tried to assure me, but it wasn't over soon. It lasted for 8 hours.
When it was finally over I was so relieved I almost yelled out.
"Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Armstrong. You have a beautiful baby girl. Would you like to cut the cord Mr. Armstrong?"
I looked over at Billie. He was crying as he nodded and stood up. After he cut it the nurse took the baby to wash her off and wrapped her in a little blue blanket with a blue cap on her head. She handed her to me and I smiled.
"She's beautiful." Billie laughed.
"Yes. She is."
"She looks like you." He smiled
"Except her eyes, thank god for that." We both laughed.
"What do you want to name her?" He asked.
"Evelyn. Evelyn Krystal Armstrong."
"That's a great name." He hugged me and kissed my forehead.
"Mrs. Armstrong. We are going to have to keep you over night to study you and the baby to make sure you are okay."
"Well, except my crotch being torn to shit I think I'm fine. But sure."
Six years later
I stood at the counter spreading peanut butter on a couple pieces of bread. It was Evelyn's first day of school.
"Come on mom we're gonna be late!" Evelyn squealed, tugging on my jeans.
"We won't be late sweetie."
"Yes we will!" I looked down and smiled at her small face. Her green eyes glimmered in panic; her brow was furrowed in frustration and her red-brown hair fell lightly around her face making her look horribly like her father. Speak of the devil.
Billie walked in the kitchen and Evelyn ran over to him and he crouched down to pick her up.
"Daddy! Mom is trying to make me late!"
"Is she?" He laughed and looked up at me, "What a mean mommy."
"I know!"
"Well, mommy better hurry up." He smirked.
"And daddy better have remembered to call Jakob to pick you up after school."
He put Evelyn down lightly and ran out of the room.
"Mommy, did you like school?"
I thought back. No, not at all. I had hated school.
"Of course I did sweetie."
