My encounter with Green Day, chapter 6

Two hours later we were on the road. Tré and Mike had tried to spoil Jessie and Pam but they refused anything. The guys were up front and we were at the very back. We were discussing how we were gonna tell them.
"Well, I've already told Billie Joe that we can't be friends. All we need to do now is tell the other two."
"But, I was thinking. Tré is a really nice guy and he's really cool. I want to be his friend." Jessie said.
"I want to be Billie and Mike'stoo. But we can't. What if their Girlfriends and Wife found out? They are hanging out with a bunch of fourteen year olds. That's just bad."
"Why is it so bad? I mean Donald Trump just had a kid a while ago with someone thirty five, he is fifty nine and they had a kid. We would just be friends."
"What ever. Do you guys want to be their friends? It's up to you guys. I don't really give a shit."
"I don't care either."
"Yeah, it's like, what ever."
"Ok, then."
"Now, what about Billie Joe?"
"What about him?"
"Well, he is like all weird to be around. I mean, this is like my dream come true, to hang out with them but, it's just weird when he is around." I told them.
"Let's talk about this later. I am hungry." Jessie said, standing up. She opened the door and walked down the small hall way and sat down at the table beside Tré. We followed and also sat down but on the other side of the table. "Well, ladies. What do you have planned for the trip?" He smiled.
"I'm gonna sleep, fastest way." I replied.
"I have no clue. Maybe just hang around..." Pam said.
"I don't know what I'm gonna do either." Jessie agreed.
"Well, then... " I didn't hear what else he said because I had gotten up and was making my way back to the room.

I closed the blinds and took my Ipod out and put on my favorite Green Day songs. No one knows started playing and I started drifting off to sleep when I felt something touch my face. 'What the fuck? ' I thought. I opened my eyes to see Billie Joe sitting cross-legged on the floor beside me with one of my earphones. "Sorry, I didn't mean to wake you up, I was just wondering what you were listening to." He laughed.
"It's ok." I said, biting my lip, nervously.
"So, why are you in here instead of hanging out with the others?"
"I'm kind of tired."
"Oh, cool."
"Yeah... So, what are you doing?"
"I was gonna see if you wanted to play monopoly, but if you're tired, I'll leave... "
"No, it's fine. I'll play." I smiled.
"Ok, I'll be right back." He got up and walked out of the room.
"What am I doing?" I whispered to no one, "He's thirty four. Come on; get a hold of your self. Snap out of it, moron! He has a wife... And two kids, and he is so hot... BUT HE HAS TWO KIDS AND A WIFE AND HE'S THIRTY FOUR AND YOU'RE FOUR TEEN SO GET IT OUT OF YOUR HEAD!" Just then he walked in.
"Hey, so who do you want to be?" He asked in more of a mono tone then when he left.
"Um, I guess the shoe. Are you ok?"
"I'm fine, why?" He wouldn't look up at me.
"Well, you seem less, happy then when you went to get the monopoly."
"I'm just tired."
"Billie, you aren't 'just tired. What's wrong?"
"I'm just fucking tired, ok?"
I couldn't believe he had just snapped at me, I glared at him, "Ok, fuck, then go to sleep. I'll even leave you alone. God damn it." I got up to leave but he grabbed my hand.
"No, it's ok. I'm sorry, we can still play."
"I'm not in the mood for monopoly any more." He dropped his hand and I left the room. Tré was still sitting at the table so I sat down, "Where are the others?"
"They went off to do random things. What's wrong with you?"
"Billie just came in and threw a bitch fit at me for no reason."
"Well, it could be something he heard."
"What do you mean?"
"Well, a few minutes ago he was listening to that door and now you are sitting here because he is all bitchy."
"Ah fuck." I thought about it for a second, why does he care? "Hey, has he said anything to you? Like anything?"
"I don't know."
"Tré, I need you to tell me everything he has told you since we met."
"Well, this one time he was drunk and he told me that he ate my chocolate bar and I told him it was a month old and... "
"Tré, I mean about Pam, Jessie and me!"
"Oh, I shouldn't tell you... "
"Tré, it is very important that you tell me."
"Ok, well, don't tell anybody but. Fuck. That first night we met he told me, like before he knew you were thirteen, that he thought you were, kind of cute in a rebellious, punky way."
My jaw dropped, "What about Adi?"
"They broke up a long time ago; they keep together for their kids."
"Oh. Well he can't still think that, he knows I'm fourteen so... " Tré shifted uncomfortably in his seat.
"Tré, has he said anything else to you?"
"Um, yeah, last night, when he was kind of drunk and every one had gone to bed but us."
"Exactly what did he say, Tré?"
"Well, he said he didn't care how old you were and that he really liked you... "
I sat in shock for a second, "Go on."
"... And that he didn't care what other people thought, or what happened to his career. He said he'd even wait until you were eighteen to go out with you."
At that moment my heart jumped to my throat and I began to sweat, "But he was drunk, right?"
"Not completely drunk... "
"Is he fucking insane? He might not care about his career but I do. No matter how awesome it is."
"Well, I'm sure he'll snap out of it. It's probably just a longing because he lost Adi." And when Tré said that, it really hurt. Thinking I was just some random rebound chick and that he just thought he liked me because he lost Adi. I choked back a couple sobs and looked away so Tré wouldn't notice, but he did any ways. "I didn't mean it like that. Shit, I'm sorry. It's ok." He said, hugging me.
"Tré, could I talk to you for a minute?" I looked behind me to see Billie standing in the hallway, "How long have you been there, Billie?"
"Could I please, talk to you for a minute?" He repeated.
"Yep, hold on a sec BJ. I'll be right back kid." He stood up and went with Billie back into the room. I held my breath and listened for any sign that Billie was angry or yelling, but nothing came. A few minutes later both men walked out of the room and sat across the table from me. 'Oh fuck, Oh fuck. ' I thought. Tré looked serious and Billie looked, kind of weird.
"Trista, I thought about what you said." Billie said, looking up, "I think it's a good idea that we don't be friends, like you said."
"Billie, I didn't say we couldn't be friends I-" "We'll drop you guys off and maybe we'll see you at another show." And without hearing my answer, he walked back to the room and locked the door. I held my head in my hands. "It's ok, kid." Tré tried to reassure, but it didn't work. "I'm gonna go and, lie down, somewhere."
"Go into my room, it's fine, no one else is in there." I thanked him and went into his room, laid on the bed and cried myself to sleep.

When I woke up it was because Pam was shaking me awake. We were home. I didn't bother saying goodbye to Billie I just said bye to Tré and Mike and hopped out and into my house.
