Stupid Billie, chapter 13
"Shit." Thea said putting her bag down.
"How about we all go to my house?" Veronica suggested. "Since we're all here already."
"Sure. But wouldn't it make more sense to go to Caitlin's house? Her bus hasn't come yet," Thea said.
"Yeah, that would make sense. But this way we get to ride in the pretty blue hummer," Sami said eyeing Bam's car.
"I'm game," Bam said.
"To Veronica's house!!" Tre said marching to Mike's BMW.
"My dad is gonna hate Tre," Veronica whispered to Caitlin, Thea and Sami.
"This isn't gonna go so well," Thea replied.
"I need a phone. My dad will freak if I don't get off the bus," Sami said grabbing Veronica's cell.
"Same," Thea said taking Caitlin's out of her bag.
"You guys really need cell phones," Mike said starting his car.
"That's where you come in," Sami said smiling at him.
"Can we go?!?!" Tre yelled. "I wanna see Veronica's house!!"
"Okay. But the three of you aren't gonna fit in here with us," Billie said.
"Nonsense. Veronica can double buckle with me," Tre said moving over.
"I think I'll go with Sami and Bam," Veronica said climbing into the hummer.
"Okay then. You guys follow us," Bam said to Mike.
"Veronica! I thought what we had was special!!!" Tre whined as Veronica slammed the door shut.
In the Hummer...
"Take a right here," Veronica said.
"Do your parents know we're all coming over?" Bam asked, turning onto Veronica's two-mile long street.
"No. Fuck! Stop the car!!" Veronica yelled. Bam stopped short; causing Mike to hit is back bumper.
"Bam!!" Mike yelled.
"... Hi dad. Is it okay if I have some friends over...? Okay. I'll see you in a few minutes."
"A few friends huh?" Sami said. "You know he's gonna flip."
"Yeah. And he'll kick Tre out of our house," Veronica laughed. "Go right again. It's the second house."
"Damn you have a big house," Bam said parking the hummer and getting out.
"Wait 'til you see the inside," Sami said.
"Why did you stop so quickly!?!" Mike said. "Now I have a broken bumper."
"A broken bumper is nothing compared to what Knoxville did to my red hummer," Bam replied.
"Yeah, yeah, we know," Sami muttered. "Veronica, you go first!" she said, pushing her friend in front. Veronica braced herself, then opened the door.
"Hi Daddy!"
"Hi Veronica, where are your fri -" He stopped short when Tre burst through the door, running smack into his chest.
Slowly, Tre looked up. "Um...hello sir..." Her dad towered over the drummer.
"Veronica, when you said friends I thought you meant your girlfriends."
"Now, now, don't be sexist," Thea said as she pulled Tre away. "You know Mr. Malinn, Mike here is in the restaurant business, just like you."
"Oh really?" he said, turning to Mike. "Is that so?"
"Yes, actually, I own a nice coffee shop."
"I manage an oyster house."
"Oh really? How interesting."
Glancing back and glaring at Tre (who was trying to hide behind Thea, it didn't work though), he said, "Walk with me Mike. I like you." The two of them walked off, leaving Billie, Tre, Bam and the girls slightly confused.
"Are you sure Mike's safe?" Caitlin asked Veronica.
"I hope so."
"He doesn't like you Tre!" Thea teased. "That's not surprising though."
"Shut up. I bet he doesn't like you either you little bitch," Tre said bitterly (what brought that mood swing on?).
"What the fuck did you call me?" Thea screamed at him. "You bastard!" She whacked him upside the head.
"Owwww... Stop it..." he whined.
"Come on Thea, you might make him cry again," Sami said, grabbing her friend's hand before she hit him again. "Besides, you are a bitch."
"Yeah, but he's not allowed to say that!" Thea said.
"I'm sorry," Tre said. "I'm just devastated that my future wife's father dislikes me."
"I'm your what now?" Veronica asked, glaring down at him.
"My future wi -" Everyone hit him at that moment, including Billie and Bam.
"Tre, she's thirteen and you're 33. Let the poor girl be you fucking pervert," Billie said.
"But -"
"Tre..." he warned.
"Okay... "
"So... We should be getting back to my house..." Thea said to Tre. "But no one's there to pick me up..."
"I could always drive you..." Tre began.
"NO! You'll kill her or someone else!" Billie said.
"Well, I could drive..." Thea began.
"NO!" Caitlin, Veronica and Sami screamed in unison.
"You guys can hang here for a while," Veronica said.
"Yeah, let's hang here," Caitlin said. "Do you really wanna go home anyway?"
"Nope."
"Let's go for a walk in the woods!" Sami suggested.
"Yeah!"
"We can't leave without Mike!" Billie said.
At that moment, Mike and Veronica's dad returned. "I like you." Her father said to Mike. "Where are you staying?"
"Well... I don't really know. I was going to sleep in my car..."
"No, no, you can stay here."
"Are you sure?"
"Of course. You'll stay here." He walked away, leaving the girls staring after him, mouths agape.
"HOLY SHIT!" Sami said. "Did he just invite you to stay here...under the same roof as Veronica, the 13-year-old daughter he won't allow to have a boyfriend?"
"I can't believe this!" Veronica cried. "Yay, Mike gets to stay with me!"
"I want Bam!" Sami yelled, grabbing his arm.
"I want Billie!" Caitlin added.
"I want... Hey!" Thea glared at her friends. "You're sticking me with Tre?"
"Haha," Sami said.
"You guys suck!"
"So do I," Tre said with a grin. Thea shuddered.
"Let's go for that walk in the woods then..." she said, defeated.
"Woods? Are there bears in the woods?" Tre asked curiously.
"Not in my woods..." Veronica pretended to cock a shotgun.
"Oh... Okay..."
"How about we all go to my house?" Veronica suggested. "Since we're all here already."
