Billie The Bully, chapter 32

Ben kneeled on his bed, looking out of the window. Joey was laid on the grass in the yard listening to his iPod.
Not that Ben was looking at Joey, or anything. He'd be looking out of his window whether Joey was there or not.
He couldn't get it out of his head. Did Carrie really think Ben liked Joey, or was he just trying to annoy him? And if she did think that....was there reason to?
Ben had only ever liked one guy. His name was Rory. He hung around with Ben and his friends, he was 'the emo', with his flicky black hair that had red streaks at the front, and his big blue eyes lined with black kohl. Tight black drainpipes to go with black Converse that had bright red shoelaces and a tight black t-shirt.
That's what attracted to him at first, his look, his sex appeal. He was sexy. All the girls liked him. Ben never denied he was hot, but he always thought he was big-headed.
Until he got to know him. It was a huge shock, actually, that a guy who was that sexy was also one of the nicest people he'd ever met.
He was head over heels. Completely bessotted.
And the best part was that Rory was known for making out with guys at parties. There'd even been rumours that he had done more than that...
But it wasn't like that at all. He'd made out with a guy when he was totally stoned off his head. He wasn't gay at all, and he certainly wasn't interested in Ben.
Ben sighed now, looking at Joey. There was also the fact of Lucy and Billie.
If they got married, wouldn't he be Joey's stepbrother? That means they'd be practically related. Which would be incest. Which would be wrong.
He'd been staring at a faraway tree for a while when he went to look back at Joey, only to see him staring straight back.
"What?" Ben called.
"What?" Joey repeated.
"You're looking at me."
"You were looking at me."
Ben rolled his eyes and backed away from the window. He waited two minutes, and then slowly went back to it, just in time to see Joey taking his t-shirt off.
He almost fainted.

"We need to talk."
"Ah. The line that never fears to make me nervous." Lucy said, sighing and putting her notebook aside.
Billie laughed and kissed her cheek, then sat down opposite her. "There's no need. I just...Okay. This might be totally me getting the wrong end of the stick here, but...I think Ben and Joey like each other."
Lucy laughed, then saw the serious expression on Billie's face and raised her eyebrows. "We joked about this..."
Billie nodded. "And now I think it's true."
"Really? Have you seen them kissing?"
Billie shook his head. "No. I think it's still in the early stages. They keep, like, blushing at each other and stuff."
Lucy sighed. "What should we do?"
"Well...I mean, your husband-"
"-Ex-husband!"
"-is our main priority now. We have to stay safe, right? But I mean..." Billie sighed exasperatedly. "I don't want it to be a case where it's either me and you, or Ben and Joey. And...I think it might come to that."
Lucy rubbed her forehead tiredly. "That'll drive them away."
"Exactly." Billie sighed. "So I think we should talk to them about it now."
Lucy looked up. "We can't do that!"
"Why not?"
"Becaues if, like you say, they're only at the 'look-at-him-out-of-the-corner-of-my-eye' stage, it'll embarrass them both and we'll lose a million many brownie points in a second. And also, it'll probably just push them closer together."
Billie sighed. "So what do we do, Luce?"
"We wait, Billie. We wait."
