Billie The Bully, chapter 4

Half-term arrived, and Lucy had never been so relieved. She'd been working pretty hard in all of her lessons, and that along with the task of making friends and avoiding the likes of Billie Joe Armstrong made her welcome the holiday with open arms.
"Bye Lucy!" Abi called as she left the school with her two friends, Meg and Yaz. They all waved and Lucy waved back.
She was waiting for Tre.
Tre and Lucy had become really good friends over the last few weeks. There had been quite a few occasions where she'd had to put up with Billie Joe, but she didn't mind. Well she did but she could handle him. She hung out with Mike quite often too.
She liked Mike a lot. He was really nice and sweet. When she was around them all, she'd wonder how they were all friends, they were all so different.
"Hey Lucy."
Lucy looked up and smiled at Tre. She linked arms with him and they started walking home. He didn't live far from her.
"What you up to over the holiday?" Tre asked as he kicked a can along the street.
"My best friend is coming over from my old town," Lucy grinned. "She's coming tomorrow and going home on Tuesday. She"ll have to meet you and Mike and Abi and Meg and Yaz."
"And Billie Joe?" Tre suggested.
"No way," Lucy snorted. "The main reason I couldn't wait for half-term was because I couldn't wait to get away from that wanker!! And now it is the half-term and I do not intend to spend it with him."
Tre looked at Lucy strangely. He'd never understood why she hated him so much. Sure he could be mean, and yeah, he could also be a huge jerk, but he wasn't that bad. He and Mike were his real friends. That crowd were just a bunch of posers who wanted a good laugh, they didn't give a damn about him really.
"Hey Lucy," He said carefully, "Are you sure you don't..."
"Don"t what?" Lucy demanded.
"Never mind."
"Tell me, Tre." Lucy ordered.
Tre sighed. They were at the corner of Stuart Avenue, where they separated to go home. Tre leaned againt the wall.
"I mean," He said, "Don't have a go at me or anything, but are you sure you don"t like Billie Joe?"
Lucy fumed. "Have you had your fingers in your ears or something! I hate him!!"
"No, I mean, are you sure you don't, y'know, like him. Like...a crush or something?"
A crush. A crush? On Billie Joe? Lucy?
Lucy smirked. "Oh Tre. You have discovered my secret."
Tre looked shocked. "Really?"
"NO!" Lucy yelled. "He repulses me! He"s mean, he"s nasty, he"s a dickhead! Why the fuck would anyone like him!"
"Because he's good-looking." Tre answered. "He can be a sweet, caring guy, with a good personality, who looks out for people. And he's hot."
Lucy raised an eyebrow. "He"s hot? How can you say that?"
Tre gave her a look. "Easily."
"Tre, do you have a crush on Billie?!"
Tre laughed. "No. If I did, I would"ve told you. Seriously, I don't. But really, Lucy, I think you do."

So that bugged Lucy for the rest of the night. Why would anyone think she had a crush on Billie Joe?
But eventually she let it go. She had to, right?
She woke up early on Saturday, excited that Jess, her best friend from her old town, was coming to visit. She was due to arrive around noon, so by ten Lucy was up, showered and dressed and was giving her room a last-minute tidy.
"Shall I make you two some pancakes before I go?" Lucy"s mother asked as she breezed into her room.
"Why, were are you going?" Lucy asked as she altered her duvet.
Her mum laughed. "I'm going to the conference in New York, remember? Lucy! How could you forget? This is a very, very important conference. I'll be away all week!"
Her mother looked totally shocked to see that her daughter had completey let it slip her mind.
Lucy, however, was just as shocked. She was going away? For a week?!
"Well, I. I really did forget." Lucy said. "Aww, mum. I thought we could do stuff together."
"Aw, Lu." Lucy"s mum ruffled her daughter's hair. "You know I have to work a little harder now. But it's all for you, OK? We'll be fine."
With that she left the room. Lucy sighed and checked her clock. It was now ten forty-five.

"LUCY!"
"JESS!"
Lucy and Jess ran into a hug, delighted to see each other after almost three months.
"Wow, you look so cool!" Lucy beamed. "Did you have a good time in the Bahamas?"
"It was amazing!" Jess grinned back. "I met a guy called Ricio, he was so hot, and he was so nice too!"
They went up to Lucy"s room and chatted for half an hour, just catching up and giggling. Lucy told Jess all about Tre and Abi and Robbie (who had now left), and Abi"s friends, and Mike...and Billie.
"He sounds like such a bastard." Jess said.
"He is!" Lucy laughed.
"GIRLS! I"M GOING!!!"
After they had said goodbye to Lucy's mum, they ate the promised pancakes and had some Cokes, watched a bit of TV, and just had a laugh.
"Wanna go out?" Lucy asked after a while.
"Yeah!" Jess replied.
There wasn't that much to do around there. In the end they got an ice-cream and walked through the park.
They were chatting about this and that when Jess stopped.
"Hey, he's hot!" She smiled.
Lucy looked and saw Billie Joe, Mike and Tre. Mike and Billie were deep in conversation but Tre had already seen them and was making his way over.
"Who?"
"The dark one," Jess said, meaning Mike. Lucy breathed a sigh of relief that it wasn"t Billie Joe. Your best friend liking the guy you hate? Not good.
"Hey Lucy!!" Tre yelled as he dove onto her.
Lucy grinned as she pushed Tre off of her. "Hey yourself."
"Hey Tre." Tre smirked.
Lucy rolled her eyes. "Tre, this is my best friend, Jess. Jess, this is Tre. He's a bit of a doofus."
"I resemble that remark." Tre giggled.
"Hey Lucy."
Lucy smiled up at Mike, who smiled back at her and sat down. Billie stayed stood up, waiting, she guessed, for her to ask him to sit down. Which she was not going to do.
"Oh! Mikey, this is Jess, she"s my best friend from my old town," Lucy said. "Jess, this is Mike."
Jess blushed at Mike and Lucy smirked as Mike blushed right back at her. He sat down next to Jess and smiled.
"So," Jess said after she'd spent a few seconds looking at Mike, "I assume that"s Billie Joe?"
Lucy rolled her eyes. "Yeah."
"Been talking about me, LuLu?" Billie smirked as he sat himself down in front of Lucy.
"Only in bad terms."
"I bet." Billie grinned.
"Don't start you two!" Tre laughed. "They're always like this," He said to Jess.
"Aw, it's cute!" Jess giggled.
"Why is it cute?!" Billie and Lucy asked simultaneously.
Jess, Mike and Tre just laughed as Lucy and Billie glared at each other.
