The true Drop-out Story, chapter 2

Act I (7th Grade)

To begin my 7th grade in school I was moved to a brand new middle school with my fellow class mates. Now, I came from a class of 15 people...everyone knew everyone. But being in 7th grade mente Junior High School, which meant being thrown into a group of 150 kids. So basically all my previous friends slowly faded into the larger group of people in which I knew like no one.

Social groups started at the lunch table, and I quickly found my friends. We were an outcast table at the back of the lunch room filled with misfits and losers. Right were I fit basically. There I made friends with John, Mike, and Randy. They became good friends of mine and shared similar music interests, which was a new one for me of course. The year began slow, but Rand's locker was right next to mine so we got off to a good start. But there was still a problem with Henry.

Me and Henry kept in touch on the side and kept working more and more on the band issue. Fortunately Henry got a guitar and started to learn, even though I was due to play guitar and sing because I was the one with balls to sing. I never had a talented voice but I wasn't afraid to get on stage and blare out some words.

The school year was actually giving me the upper hand. I had tons of new friends to share ideas with by October. They all helped me out and we became like a social gang, basically looking out for each other. The unfortunate part about the social gang was that Randy, John, and Mike were not in the social group. They were sort of separate, but ok with it. So, I continued to work with both of them. The newly formed gang was filled with different more active punks, Corey, Nathan, Tyler. And then there was the more quiet group of Randy Mike and John. I was in-between both groups and things were working out great.

It was when I made a horrible mistake of going to a High school football game that screwed me for the whole year. Her name was Carisa and she had been an acquaintance to me...nothing less nothing more. We had been hanging out at the football game pretty much all night together. Then she got me alone and asked if I would go out with her. Even though I knew her past record of just going out with people and dumping them, I made the mistake of letting her in my personal circle. I said yes. She only wanted me to prove to someone else that she could get boyfriends, and then dumped me the following week. I really didn't mind, but somewhere inside it made me a little less human.

The rest of the year went pretty smoothly after that. Henry told me that he was still playing drums even though he had taken a liking to guitar. I never spoke to Carisa again after that incident. I also realized late in the year that I had finally built up a tolerance to milk products and that I could finally consume candy bars and such. I scored 3 detentions that year for not doing my homework. This pattern would continue all the way through high school till where I am today. When school was finally over, I still had no band, no instrument, and no life. I Took it upon myself to educate myself on every posable fact about the bands I liked. And within my 7th grade/8th grade summer, I became a pop punk nerd. To this day I still know all the facts on Blink 182 and Green Day and haven't met anyone who could stump me within Cardinal School District. I am very proud of that actually.

But 8th grade was baring down like a shadow, and that was the year that I screwed up big time.
