Why Am I Here?, chapter 1
I woke up in darkness. My eyes started to focus and I saw where I was. I was in a dim-lighted room. The thing is that I didn't know who I was and where I was. I grabbed the back of my head and felt something moist. Blood. I looked at my hand and saw the dark red liquid on my fingers. I could hear something downstairs.
Music. People. Talking. Thank God I wasn't alone.
I got up, which was hard. My body was sore but I didn't know why. I limped over to the dresser. Looking in the mirror, I saw a broken man. Black, messy hair was strewn about. Dark circles traced under my eyes. My clothes wrinkled and dirty. What the hell was this? A nightmare? I spotted a bathroom next to where I was standing. I turned on the light and walked to the sink. I turned on the faucet and splashed the cool water on my face. I patted down my clothes and combed my hair.
I sighed and sat on the bed, holding my face in my hands. I got up and walked over to the window. I parted the curtains and saw cars out front. Lots of cars. I walked downstairs and saw many people moving their bodies to music that was being played loudly. I walked down the rest of the way and moved through the people. I remember hearing people screaming," Billie Joe! Wait!" but I kept moving. I had no time to worry about this Billie Joe person.
I got out the front door and saw a few people outside by their cars having a cig or a beer or something like that. People were staring at me for some reason. I figured that I must have parked somewhere but of course I don't remember. So I decided to ask one of the people that were standing out there. I walked up to this one girl.
"Hey... Um... I don't remember where I parked... Do you happen to know?" I said. She just stared at me in disbelief, like she couldn't believe that I was talking to her. Finally she said, "Um... Yeah... Y-you parked next to the blue car... O-over there..."
I was pretty confused because she was acting so... Shocked.
I put no mind to it and walked to my car. Well, what I thought was my car. I dug into my pocket and found a key. It had the same symbol as "my" car so I put it in the keyhole. It clicked and I got in. I thought I'd felt something like a wallet in my pocket so I pulled it out. I took out my driver's licence and found a picture that looked much better than the figure that I'd seen in the mirror earlier. The name I saw next to the picture shocked me.
They had been calling me at the party. I AM Billie Joe Armstrong.
