City Slicker Cool, chapter 5
Nat had been back for almost a day already and as some form of slight celebration they decided to hold another bonfire just for her. All the teenagers currently on the property sat around the camp fire warming themselves up. Ethan had mad his way to Nat having already and arm around her waist. He sat closer to her and nudged her gently, she nudged back and looked down smiling, not noticing Billie's total look of murder that was aimed at both. Mike on the other hand had seen that look many a break up before.
"You do remember that YOU dumped HER right?" HE smirked.
"Yeah because she cared more about her schoolwork then spending time with me or getting high anymore. And even when we were coming up here you heard her oh my school work i can't stay here my future is to important to skip out on and get stoned now, oh but now she's all up on Mr. Outdoors there if I asked her about her schoolwork she'd probably go huh?" Billie said venomously making Mike laugh.
"Bill she's talking to the guy."
"Then maybe he should keep his hands off." He moved his eyes to Ethan's work calloused hands, one wrapped around her waist pulling her impossibly closer to his buff chest, the other stroking the top of Nat's left hand. Billie rolled his eyes and looked at Mike.
"Did you bring any pot?"
"How the hell do you think I planned on passing the time? Milking the damn cows!" Billie and Mike both left back to the Wright property saying that they needed some relax time.
"Save me some!" Nat and Tre both called, then looked at each other ad laughed.
"Two bucks a joint bitches!" Billie called back.
"What about our discount!?" But they were to far gone to hear by then. Nat and Tre both laughed but Ethan and Stef looked at them.
"They just called you two..." Not being raised to talk like that Ethan didn't finish.
"Bitches? They call us that all the time it's no big thing we call them worse things it's just how we talk." Tre spoke.
"Not only are city folk dumb but rude also." Nat looked at Ethan and raised an eyebrow.
"Don't judge all just because of how a few teens talk and you don't know me to say I'm dumb kid and if we're rude it's to those who deserve it."
"Ooh and feisty." Ethan laughed.
"And violent to so just stay quiet because I don't think country folk like you can handle a tongue like mines." Ethan raised his hands in surrender and apologized. Stef looked at Nat.
"Your parents don't care that you talk like that?"
"What parents? Oh mom.... No and even if they did I really wouldn't care now excuse me I think I need to go relax to I'll see you in the morning Tex." She kissed Tre's cheek and walked off.
"Ethan go follow her who knows what could happen it's pretty dark." Stef said apparently concerned for the young city girl who was leaving.
"She walks down the streets of downtown at midnight alone with all the gangs and drunks following her do you think a few shrubs and trees are going to scare her?" Ethan looked at Tre.
"She may be a city girl but how many wild animals has she faced?" Just then Nat came running back.
"Holy shit there was this like shadow then I felt something touch me and I came running back before I was some bears breakfast." Tre looked at her confused.
"Did you just come back..... scared?"
"Shit mother fucker you would have to! It was dark and then something brushed against my leg and something cold wrapped around my waist and I could feel something breathing into my face I wasn't going to stick around fuck that!" She was visibly shaking and looked on the verge of tears, Tre stood up and hugged her rubbing her back and running his fingers through her hair she wouldn't stop trembling and buried her face into his chest fighting back tears of fear.
"Maybe we should get you back to my dad's you look really shaken up."
"No Tex I don't want to bring your mood down."
"But-"
"Don't worry I'll walk with her." Ethan said giving Natalie her denim jacket, she took it and put it on.
"Are you sure?" He looked at his best friend with concern.
"I promise you just stay here and have a good time... Not to good though alright kid?" She forced a smile and he hugged her still shaking body, seeing her this terrified scared him and he hadn't even seen what happened to her.
"You ready?" Ethan said placing a hand around her shoulder she let out a breath and nodded, clinging to Ethan for dear life as they walked into the dark. Tre sighed and went to sit back to Stef.
"So what exactly happened in that house?" She looked at him and smiled.
"I thought you'd never ask."
Nat and Ethan we're still quite a walk from getting back to the house so Ethan tried to start up a conversation.
"So feisty."
"What?" She was paranoid and looked around her shoulder every so often clinging tighter to Ethan.
"What happened?"
"I already told you so shut up and drop it."
"Damn all tough one minute a puddle of water the next."
"Look just shove it will you!" She screamed embarrassed of how she was acting but fully in her right, whatever it was that touched her scared the shit out of her and there was no way in hell she was going to get over it so quick.
"OK OK..... So what do city girls like you listen to?" She looked at him and rolled her eyes.
"I don't know about other girls but I listen to just about anything except classical and country."
"For example."
"Minor Threat, The Distillers, Toni Braxton, Selena, Sex Pistols, Dead Kennedy's, Metallica, Blondie and the list goes on."
"Pretty good selection."
"Well city girls do know their music." She said easing up a little bit. "How about you Mr. Outdoors when your not out listening to the crickets and horses what's blasting in your head?"
"The typical metal, Metallica Black Sabbath , Judas Priest, Guns 'n' Roses." She looked at him and laughed. "What?" He liked the sound of her laugh it was actually only the second time he's actually heard her laugh.
"I'm sorry but it's easier to see you with like a banjo or something strumming along to Johnny Cash in the back of an old pick up truck, it's just funny to picture you with your cowboy outfit head banging and moshing to something like Guns 'N' roses."
"Well just because we live out here and not on concrete like you doesn't mean we aren't with the music you do know we have this thing called a radio right?" She laughed again and pushed him playfully.
"You know for a stereotyping country boy who likes to make fun of people who prefer concrete to grass your kinda cool." He put his hand over his heart and showed an over dramatic appreciation of her hidden compliment.
"Why that's the sweetest thing I've ever had anyone tell me. Wanna know a something?" She looked at him and smiled.
"What?"
"For a city girl who swears more then my old man and likes to stereotype me as some Johnny Cash kid your kinda cute.... I mean cool." He winked at her and she blushed.
"Well I'll be damned the country boy is a ladies man." She giggled and he shook his head.
"Just honest."
"OKAAAYY!" She said in a funny tone of voice that made Ethan chuckle and that's when they had finally realized they were a few feet from the Wright property. She looked at him and smiled.
"Thanks for walking with me I didn't mean to ruin it for you guys it just that-" She was silenced by his lips pressing against hers she was so shocked she couldn't react and Ethan pulled away sheepishly.
"I had been wanting to do that for quite a while." Nat licked her lips and looked at him.
"That was forward of you we just met each other first you call me dumb then you insult me and make fun of me and you think I'm gonna let you kiss me?" Ethan couldn't hide his embarrassment.
"Well-"
"I wanted to be the one to make the first move." She smiled pulling him in for another kiss placing her hand behind his neck deepening their kiss, he was shocked to say the least his eyes were open for the whole kiss and she could have cared less. When she pulled away she kept a slight hold over his lower lip and he was speechless to say the least.
"We city girls know lots of things." Nat smirked kissing his cheek before walking into the house leaving Ethan in utter astonishment a slight tingling sensation on his bottom lip.
Nothing was spoken of Nat's encounter to Billie or Mike but it was also obvious that Ethan and Nat were now somewhat exclusive to each other even though Nat said she just though of him as a make out buddy.
"It's not my fault he can kiss." She told Tre helping him and Stef clean out the stables early that morning.
"Well yeah but damn can't you to ever take a break? It's like we watch you and we run out of air." Stef joked, Just then Ethan walked in having returned from cutting wood into logs.
"Break time I'll be back in twenty." Nat said skipping off in Ethan's direction, Tre shook his head.
"That's her mind hazy boy crazy Natalie." Stef smiled and set down the pitchfork she had been using to move the hay into a pile.
"But she has a good point break time!" She walked over to Tre who hadn't heard and was still sweeping up she poked his ribs and he jumped up yelping.
"You're gonna get it!" He laughed chasing her she ran up to the top of the stables and Tre managed to tackle her down into a haystack on her back so they were chest to chest. Be it accidental or planned Tre and Stef's lips locked momentarily and when they broke free neither spoke until Stef finally managed to spit out.
"Took you long enough I was starting to doubt you'd ever make the first move." He laughed and rolled off of her and onto his back when Stef noticed he had a strange look on his face.
"What's wrong."
"I think the needle in the haystack just poked my ass." He said pulling out a pitchfork that had been hidden by the hay. "Jolly fucking farm life."
"Sure is", she smiled giggling. She went to stand up but Tre pulled her back down catching her on the fall.
"We going to the house tonight?", he asked her a loving yet serious tone. Stef got back up and smiled.
"All depends on you Romeo", she told him walking out of the barn...
Outdoors there if I asked her about her schoolwork she'd probably go huh?"
