Regrets Of A Teenage Life (Sequel To Time Of My Life), chapter 19
Never in all my life have I known four days to drag by so slowly. Most of the time I moped around on my bed while Mike and Tre partied a little.
"come on Billie Joe it is awesome partaying in Lisbon" said Tre in a mock English accent.
"nah I will give it a miss go on without me guys" I said ushering them out my room,
"you sure?" asked Mike
"I'm sure" I said one last time before shutting the hotel room door. I sank down on the soft bed, My senses were dull and I was tired, I suddenly got that same feeling I had in the hotel room at the spa. Like I needed to hold on to Rebecca. Problem was, she wasn't here. I called to check on her.
"Hey babe" I said as I heard the phone pick up.
"Yeah nice to talk to you too dad but I'll go get mom" said Matt laughing.
"Hey honey how are you?" she asked as she took the phone off Matt
"hey babe" I replied
"I am depressed what about you?" I asked
"I am ok but Billie babe why are you depressed?" she asked concerned
"I just miss you loads and I wanna see you again" I whined
"you will be home tomorrow" she reasoned
"I know I just want you right now" I moaned
"I will see you when you get back ok?" she said
"Ok love you loads" I said
"I love you more" she replied
"Impossible" I answered before she put the phone down with a small laugh that resounded in my ear.
I sank back relaxed now I had spoken to her. I grabbed a beer from the mini cooler and drank it slowly while I fell off to sleep.
I woke up the next day with Tre bounding in the room saying I had half an hour to get my things ready coz we were leaving soon for the airport. I jumped to the task then had a shower. I was ready to leave by the time half an hour was up.
When we arrived home it was really late. It was 3:00am so I snuck in and left my bags by the door and crept to mine and Rebecca's room. I stripped to my boxers and carefully got in beside her. Her hair was covering her angel like face as she slept. I tucked it behind her ear. She wrapped her hands around my body still asleep, I soon fell asleep in her arms again after what felt like years.
I awoke the next morning as I felt Rebecca stretch beside me.
"you came in quietly" she smiled giving me a kiss on the lips.
"I didn't wanna wake ya, Sleeping Beauty" I said smiling at her. We lay in each other's arms till Jake came creeping through the bedroom door.
"Hey buddy what's up?" I asked shifting aside to let him lie beside Rebecca
"I had a bad dream last night but I didn't want to wake mom then so I came now" he said rubbing the sleep from his eyes. I looked over to Rebecca who had fallen off to sleep again.
"well mom has gone back to sleep but you can talk to me" I said
"I missed you daddy" he said lying back onto my pillow
"I missed you too honey. I always miss you when I go away even if it is only for one day" I told him.
"Can we go and see the new Harry Potter movie today?" he asked.
"I guess we can you wanna go make mom some breakfast then we can give it to her then we can all get ready and go see it yeah?" I suggested
"ok then" he said getting off the bed. I pulled on some trousers and followed him downstairs to the kitchen.
We took Rebecca some pancakes and coffee and set it down on the bed. I gently shook her awake and she yawned and stretched before smiling.
"hey" I said smiling
"we are gonna go see the new Harry Potter movie after breakfast" I informed
"oh ok I was planning on taking Jake to see it sometime soon anyway" she said taking a sip of her coffee.
"well we can go together you know a family day out" I said sitting down beside her.
At about 11:00am we were just getting in the car to go see the movie. When we got to the cinema part of the mall, we bought our tickets and I bought some sweets, popcorn and some drinks and we took our seats in the theatre.
After nearly three hours the movie was over. It was pretty good actually. We went to get some macdonalds at the foodcourt area. We sat quietly together. I dunno what the silence was for but it was a nice silence. I was just embracing it when a deafening bang went off just behind us. I grabbed Jake from the seat beside me and held him close. I slowly turned my head. It was a gunshot. A man was lying on the floor blood splattered everywhere. I couldn't think straight with all the screaming and panicking from the people around all running for doors to escape.
"No one move!" Yelled the man moving the gun around everyone seated in the foodcourt. I held Rebecca and Jakob infront of me to sheild them as more gunshots went off with resounding bangs. I held them tightly infront of me as I heard his footsteps coming nearer and nearer. I could hear each footstep echoing as the seconds ticked so slowly by. I knew he was right behind me. I seized the chance. I let go of my family and grabbed the man's raised gun. Not expecting it he let go straight away. I hit him in the face and tripped him over. He lay on the floor while I continuously kicked him. Soon the police arrived and took him away. I had to give a statement but that was all.
I lay at home shaking. I was terrified of guns and had been since I was mugged at gunpoint back in 2001. Rebecca sat beside me, running her hands through my hair. I was slowly untensing my body and relaxing. She lay her head on my chest and we fell asleep. Jake went to bed early as he was just so shocked. No 11 year old needs to see that.
I was awoken by Jake tugging on my trouser leg, tears slowly creeping down his cheeks. I carefully lifted myself off the sofa as to not wake Rebecca. I picked him up and took him to the kitchen to get a drink of water. I looked at the clock. 11:00pm. We had fallen asleep early.
"daddy I'm scared" he said as he slowly sipped his water.
"it's ok honey daddy is scared too. I have been for a long time" I said rubbing his back.
"nothing like that will ever happen again" I reassured him.
"you promise?" He asked.
"I promise" I said wiping his tear stained cheeks dry. I carried him back up to bed. He was still terrified.
"Daddy don't go please! I might see him again!" he pleaded with sorrowful eyes.
"Ok I will stop here" I promised lying on his bed beside him. I lay awake knowing that Jake was also, awake turning over the days events in his mind.
"shoud we go get mommy and we can all sleep in the big bed in mine and mommys room?" I suggested squinting at him through the darkness. He looked over at me. The pale moonlight cast an eriee shadow over his small elegant face.
"ok then" he said. I picked him up and took him to mine and Rebecca's room.
"just stand here I will be two minutes" I whispered to him through the darkness.
"ok" he said.
I snuck downstairs and carefully picked Rebecca up. I carried her to our room and placed her on the bed, Then Jake got in then I did. Jake cuddled into me then fell asleep. I fell asleep not long afterwards.

"I tell you what I will call her mom and she can bring her round after school ok?" I reasoned
"fine" he mumbled.
"atta boy" I said ruffling his hair. I called Vicki's mom and she said she would bring Vicki round straight after school for a couple of hours.
The day passed imensly quickly. Vicki came round and her and Jake hung out and talked. I thought smaller kids ran around laughing and screaming but them two just sat and talked like mature young adults. I tried to listen to their conversation but I had no luck. I remember Matthew saying something about Jake liking Vicki but he is only 11. Well I guess there is a first time for everything and I would not be suprised if he had a girlfriend at a younger age he has his mother's beautiful looks. That's nothing compared to Matt's who is a mini me although, he is getting to be taller than me but, what can I say? I am one sexy beast.
When Vicki left Jake seemed a little upset but he got over it. We all had another early night.
The week passed by quickly and it was Friday. Jake, had Vicki coming over again. It was his birthday and we were planning to take him and a friend to a theme park on Saturday and Sunday. We had already arranged with Vicki's mom to take her.
We were getting the car packed and Vicki was saying goodbye to her mom. We all got in the car and left for Disney Land Florida.
