My Made Coach, chapter 7
Two Hours Later
"He does look like Joey." Jake said as we looked at the picture.
"Okay, boys, time for bed." I said to Jake and Joey.
"Aw, do we have to?" Jake whined.
"Yeah, do we have to?" Joey imitated his older brother.
"Yes, goodnight Joey, goodnight Jake." Joey walked over to me and gave me a hug.
"Goodnight Jordan, I love you."
"I love you too." I said kissing his forehead.
"Goodnight Jason."
"Night Joe." Joey ran upstairs. Jason and I sat in silence for a few minutes.
"Jase?"
"Yeah?"
"You know how Jake doesn't remember dad?"
"Yeah?"
"Does it scare you that maybe... Joey might forget about mom someday?"
"He could never forget about mom." He said defensively.
"I'm just saying-"
"Saying what Jordan? Mom might be dead, but that doesn't mean that you're our new mom."
"I know Jason, I'm not looking to replace mom."
"You better not."
"Is that a threat?"
"Maybe it is."
"Better not be."
"What're you gonna do about it?"
"Whatever I want to do about it, because I can!"
"No you can't, you're not the boss of me!"
"Yes I am."
"Says who?"
"Says mom."
"How would you know?"
"I just do."
"How?"
"Because, a couple of years ago, mom said that if something happens to her, that I need to take care of you guys for her."
"Oh... "
"Yeah."
"I love you, big sis."
"I love you too, little bro." We hugged and then went upstairs.
4 Weeks Later
Jordan's POV
My cell phone rang.
"It's too fucking early, call back later." I said into the phone, about to hang up.
"Jordan, hold on."
"Tre?"
"Yeah."
"Hey what's up?"
"Nothing much, how's it going?"
"I've seen better days."
"What's wrong?"
"Well my grandma came to live with us."
"Oh, that's great. Why is that bad?"
"It's not, but Jake starting getting into fights at school and he was expelled."
"Expelled?"
"Yeah, and then Joey had to move schools because the bullying continued."
"Was he hurt severely?"
"Severely? No. As for Jason, we're actually getting along really well and we tag team against Joey and Jake when it's time to go to bed."
"That's cool. So over all, how would you say things are going?"
"I'd say they're going pretty well."
"Did you break up with Michael?"
"No, but I'm going to soon."
"Promise?"
"I promise."
"Have you been practicing?"
"About three times a week."
"That's good... you know, that offer still stands if you still wanna come to LA."
"I don't know Tre, I mean with the boys and all."
"But your grandma is there."
"I know, but it's not the same as having a mother figure around."
"I guess."
"When is the flight anyway?"
"Check the tickets."
"How could I do that?"
"Why don't you look in your soccer trophy?"
"Tre, you didn't."
"I did."
"Aw, that's so sweet."
"I know, I'm so romantic."
"It would leave on Wednesday at 7:30 in the morning."
"Do you think you're gonna be able to get here? Billie Joe and Mike really wanna meet you."
"He's told us all about you." A different voice said.
'Billie, give me my phone!' I heard Tre yell in the background.
"All good things, right?"
"Excellent things."
"That's good."
"Jordan? I'm back. Sorry about him, he's immature."
"It's okay, Tre, I have to get going."
"Okay, bye, see if you can come."
"I will."
"Bye."
"Bye Tre." I hung up my phone and stood up. I walked into the bathroom and brushed my teeth. I pulled my hair into a messy ponytail and walked downstairs.
"Hey Jordan." All my brothers said.
"Hey, where's grandma?"
"She went grocery shopping."
"Oh, okay." I sat down at the table with them.
"So what's up?" Jason asked me.
"Tre called."
"He did, how is he?"
"He's good, he asked about you guys."
"What did he say about us?" Joey asked.
"He says hi and that he misses you."
"He misses us?" Joey asked.
"Of course."
"Yay!" He stood up and ran upstairs.
"Now that midget-man is gone, what did you really want to tell us?"
"I was thinking about... going to California."
"You were?" Jason asked.
"That's great." Jake added.
"What do you mean?"
"For the past four weeks, you've been taking care of us whenever you can, that can't be fun. You deserve a break."
"Aw, thanks Jason... this isn't just a plot to get me out of the house, is it?"
"No, we'll still have grandma."
"Are you guys sure?
"Positive, this is what you've always wanted. You deserve to live your dream more than anybody."
"Thanks Jase, you know, you're really sweet."
"I know."
"I'm gonna call Tre." I ran upstairs and picked up my cell phone. Michael had called twice in the past fifteen minute. I dialed Tre's number and listened to it ring.
"Jordan?"
"Yeah, I can come."
"Oh god, that's great."
"Question."
"Yeah?"
"Do you think there's any possible way I could... bringJakewithme?"
"How old is Jake?"
"11"
"Why him?"
"Because 3 kids is too much for an old lady, he loves you guys, and I really don't want to haul Joey or Jason around LA."
"Of course you can bring Jason with you."
"Thank you so much, if you were here, I'd hug you. I love you!"
"Love you too."
"Okay, so I guess we'll be there at... god, I don't know."
"You'll arrive here at 8:00."
"You really planned this out, didn't you?"
"Yes, I did."
"You sound so official."
"I know."
"Are you going to pick us up at the airport?"
"Nope."
"Fine, I'll just get a cab, asshole."
"I'm kidding, of course I'm picking you up. I wouldn't have it any other way."
"God you rock."
"I know, so, I'll see you there?"
"Yep."
"Bye."
"Bye." I hung up.
