Where Do Broken Hearts Go?, chapter 1
I watched him place a dozen red roses on her grave, and then sit down beside the headstone. He buried his head in his hands and began to sob uncontrollably. Seeing such a beautiful person engaged such a sad act really tugged on my heartstrings. I didn't know much at all about his situation, except for the fact that it had been four long years since her death. Four long and lonely years for him. But he was a strong person, you could just tell, and he went on despite how much he wanted to give up at times. He slowly stood up and kissed his fingers. He pressed his hand to the name on the gravestone and whispered "I love you." I wanted to reach out and help him, but I knew that I couldn't just yet. For now I remained unseen, just a whisper in the wind. The invisible girl sitting on top of his wife's headstone. But I would help him somehow, I knew that much. My name is Charlie and I am an angel, and he is Billie Joe Armstrong, my new mission.

Now before I go on, I might as well tell you a little about myself. As I said my name is Charlie and I am an angel. Of course I wasn't always an angel-duh. I was an orphan. My parents left me on the steps of someone's home when I was just a little baby. That someone I never got to know because she died when I was too young to remember. I ended up in an orphanage, which wasn't really a bad place. My best friend Tayler and I both lived there until we were 16. At 16 we both ran away and got jobs. We both lived with my boyfriend Tony and his best friend Jake. I died two years later, when I was 18. It wasn't really all that tragic or anything, it was a car accident and it was my own fault. I ran out in a fit of rage after coming home and finding my boyfriend cheating on me. I crashed into a tree. It wasn't really painful or anything since it was quick. I didn't really leave anything behind either except for Tayler, who was like my sister. She was really the only family that I had ever had and I still miss her. I do make frequent visits to earth to visit her and see how Tony is doing, since I know he still puts the blame on himself for my death, which by the way was 5 years ago today. But back to the point. Today on the anniversary of my death I found out that I had a mission. Five long years of doing basically nothing in heaven and now I had a mission. God had been too busy himself to come and talk to me so he sent Gabriel.
"Charlie you have a mission." was all he said to me. Leave it to Gabriel to get straight to the point.
"Really? Who might that be and what do I have to do to help them." I said. Many of my friends had gone on missions already so I knew the deal. You help someone in need, you get rewarded. Some angels only went on one mission, some went on many and their rewards varied.
"His name is Billie Joe Armstrong. He is the lead singer of Green..." I cut him off midsentence.
"Green Day!" I said excited.
"Yes you know him?" he asked me looking puzzled.
"Hellooo I died 5 years ago, not 35 buddy. Of course I know who Green day is." I wasn't lying either. When I was 18, I had been in love with Green Day and their music. I practically worshiped the ground they walked on, though I never had the chance to go to a concert.
"Yes, anyway." Gabriel continued. "His wife Adrienne died four years ago and he could really use your help right now. He doesn't seem to be doing well at all."
"How did she die?"
"I can't tell you that. You will have to find out for yourself."
"Then what is the point of this mission?" I asked angrily. Leave it to an angel to be so damn secretive.
"That I also can not tell you. You will however be rewarded when you complete it."
"Ok. Can you at least tell me where to find the guy?" I said more then a little annoyed.
"Today you will find him at the grave of his departed wife. You will know which one is hers, just use your angel's intution. He won't be able to see you until tomarrow, and even then only he will be able to see you. This will be a hard mission, but it will be worth it in the end." he said. I just nodded and walked away. You see God and the arc angels put other angels on missions. The angel going on the mission has no idea what the outcome will be or how to get through it, but God and the arc angels do. They don't just pick a name out of the heavenly hat and hand someone a mission. The missions are picked the moment you die. They are written in the stars, a sort of heavenly destiny. God just of knows when the right time is to give that angel his or her mission and he knows exactly what will happen to them in the end. I've heard that some angels stay on earth, but in other people's bodies to protect the ones they love. Some just continue getting missions until they themselves become a high power angel, and some become human. Real honest to god humans. They are themselves only with a different last name. It's really quite miraculous because once the angel is human and everyone can see them, records of all sorts appear for them, like they have been there all the time. It has always been my hope that I was one of those who were chosen to be human again, and I almost forgot about it as I sat on the headstone watching Billie Joe that day.

I had almost forgotten how utterly gorgeous he was. He still pretty much looked the same here in 2007, as he did in 2002, only better. As he got up to walk away I followed him. I had no wings so that I would blend in easier (not that there was a point in that since no one could see me) when Billie Joe first saw me. At that moment I couldn't really help myself. I reached out and touched his shoulder gently. He turned around to see if someone was there because, even though he couldn't see me, he could still feel my touch. He must have also felt my presence because he just looked around and smiled. A smile that said he was happy to know that he was no longer alone...
