Where Do Broken Hearts Go?, chapter 14

Tre and Taylor each got up and made a toast to Billie and I before dinner. After eating there was the ceremonial cutting of the cake, where Billie and I smashed it in each others faces and then kissed. Tre chased me around for 15 minutes afterward, trying to lick the remaining icing off of my face. When it came time to dance the lights dimmed and big disco balls dropped down from the ceiling over the enormous dance floor. People started wandering to the dance floor and that's when everyone really began to have a blast. Billie and I had been talking to some of his friends. He had a bored look on his face.

"What's the matter love?" I asked him, wondering if maybe it was me. He looked at me and his face immediately brightened.

"Let's go dance." he said grabbing my hand. He led me onto the dance floor. We danced to a few fast songs, and laughed at some of his friends who were worse then the both of us combined. During one of the slower songs Mike approached Billie and I. He was holding Taylor's hand.

"Hey Billie-boy, you mind if I steal Charlie for a dance?" he said.

"Hey you trying to steal my wife?" Billie said jokingly. "Get your own." He motioned toward Taylor.

"Aw come on man. You get her the rest of your life. Can't I just have one dance?"

"Fine fine." Billie said. "But just one." Mike let go of Taylor's hand and started dancing with me. Billie and Taylor danced next to us. It was a slower song, but it was still fast enough that we weren't actually slow dancing. I looked up and noticed that Mike was staring at me intently.

"Thank you Charlie. Thank you so much." he said to me. I gave him a puzzled look.

"What in the world for?"

"For saving my best friend." he said. I didn't say anything, and he spoke again. "Billie hasn't been happier in his life. " He patted Billie's shoulder and Billie smiled at me. "Your and angel Charlie." I laughed at the irony of his comment, as did Billie and Taylor. We stopped dancing and I rejoined Billie.

"And thanks for introducing me to Taylor. She's great." Mike said taking Tay's hand again. They walked off.

"Can I get everyone to clear the dance floor except the bride and groom. I repeat, everyone clear the dance floor except the bride and groom please." the DJ announced. People started to clear the way and Billie led me to the center. Pretty soon almost everyone was crowded in a circle around us and, our wedding song; Where Do Broken Hearts Go, began to play. It was an unconventional wedding song, I know, but it seemed to really fit us and had that special something, that's why we chose it. So Billie hel me close and we started to dance. We were the only ones dancing, until towards the end of the song. Mike led Taylor out onto the dance floor, and then a few others joined them. The couples were talking amongst themselves and some people were snapping pictures.

"Hmmm." I said in reference to the song "I really do wonder where broken hearts go."

"I think I know." Billie said looking down at me. "They fly away on the wings of an angel." I looked up at him and smiled. He leaned in and gently kissed me, and I knew, that somewhere in space, floating up to heaven was a broken heart on the wings of an angel.
