Where Do Broken Hearts Go?, chapter 8

*Billie Joe's p.o.v*

I was standing there barefoot in the middle of what looked to be a forest. A fine white mist swirled around me, and the dew on the grass caused my feet to have a slight chill. The trees around me looked mysterious and haunting in a way because of the mist. I had no idea where I was, and as I looked around I noticed something peculiar in the distance. At first it was a tiny spec of white but as it moved toward me I could see it was a woman. Charlie. I thought. It had been almost a week since I'd seen her or heard from her, but there she was walking towards me. I looked a little closer and when the woman was finally close enough that I could see her features I realized that no, the woman coming toward me wasn't Charlie at all.

"Adie." I whispered. She was now standing in front of me, smiling in that way that drove me crazy when she was alive. I reached out and touched her face. She took my hand and led me over to the biggest tree in the forest, where we sat down, still holding hands.

"Billie Joe." she said smiling once more.

"Oh Adie I miss you." I replied.

"I miss you to Billie Joe. You've been strong. I just wish you could be happy." her smile melted away into a slight frown.

"I don't think I can ever be happy again." I said to her.

"You know that isn't true." she said. "I know for a fact that there is someone else."

"No never. No one else. Only you." I replied. She placed a finger over my mouth to shush me.

"It's ok Billie. Don't be afraid. I sent her to you. I sent her to make you happy again, and you were. You don't know how much it breaks my heart to see you so unhappy."

"You...you sent her?" I said gulping. Adie just nodded.

"You need her Billie, and she needs you. You've both been through alot."

"But...but you." I said, my eyes welling up with tears.

"I will always be there to watch over you, and I know you will always love me Billie." she said not allowing me to finish what I was going to say. She stood up and took my hand. My heart sunk, and I knew it was time for her to go. She picked a small, white flower off the large tree we had been sitting under and pressed it into the palm of my hand. Her eyes filled up with tears and she leaned in to kiss me. A goodbye kiss, I knew. He hand lingered on my face for a few seconds before she took it away.

"Be happy Billie Joe, for me. I'll always be there watching over you." she said. I nodded. "Goodbye." she said in a whisper as she vanished into the white mist, leaving me standing there alone. Her voiced echoed one more time Goodbye it said. Her voice still lingered in my head moments later when I woke up. It was all just a dream, I thought sitting up. My hand was balled up in a fist at my side, and when I opened it up there was a small white flower crumbled between my fingers. I smiled, and it was at that moment I knew how I felt, and I knew what I had to do.....
