The Joke Is Over (Sequel to Late Night Partiers), chapter 21
Mike murmured, "Why didn't you leave me?"
Billie gave him a look, "Are you shitting me? How could I?"
Mike shrugged and blinked his eyes slowly, "I'm gonna die, ain't I?"
Billie held his hand and shook his head.. "Mike, don't worry.." Billie was really unsure of what to say. He didn't want to tell Mike that he could die anytime now. He just held Mike's hand and blinked away tears swelling up in his eyes.
Tre stared at them and thought, Stop filling his mind up with shit... You heard the doctor.. God, please help him.. We can't loose him. Tre sat there debating on whether to get up or not.. He was afraid he was gonna have another out burst like he did a few minutes ago. Tre gradually emerged from the corner and sat in the chair next to Billie. He looked at Mike with his eyes filled with dry tears. Mike looked back at Tre. His misty blue eyes were turning pale and weak.
Billie put Mike's hand down and put his head into his hands, "What are we going to do?"
"What do you mean?" Mike asked dryly.
Billie looked at Mike, "Nothing.."
Tre looked at Billie and said, "My ass..."
"What?" said Mike.
"Mike, don't worry about it," said Billie. "Tre.." He shook his head..
Tre looked at Billie and frowned then a tear rolled down his cheek.
A doctor walked in and asked for Billie and Tre to come into the hallway. They walked out and closed the door.
Mike sat there alone, looking at his friends through the glass door. Both of them standing there patiently, staring at the doctor. Then a smile came onto Billie's face and he jumped into Tre's arms.. Both of them smiling and crying at the same time. The doctor's eyes lit up at the sight as he left them. Billie and Tre walked back into the room smiling widely.
"MIKE!!" smiled Billie.
Tre was crying hysterically but smiling, "You're gonna live!!!"
"What!?" said Mike dryly. "Was I gonna die?"
"No, but we know for sure now you are not," said Billie.
Both of them looked at Mike. All of them started talking and a nurse walked in.
"Billie Joe, Tre you guys have to leave because it's past visiting hours.." said the nurse.. "I'll make sure that he's taken good care of.."
Billie noticed it was the nurse that helped him before he passed out, "OK. I know I can trust you.. Thanks about earlier too.."
"Your welcome, all in a days work.." said the nurse, watching them leave and stayed to check on Mike..
Billie and Tre walked out of the door and sat in the chairs down the hall. Tre saw a list of people who were in the hospital.
"Robert Winezshika.. Ruby Bailey.. Morris Staci.... Man, not ol' man staci.. He's cool.." said Tre, reading the list..
"Tre come sit down.." said Billie, sounding grouchy.
"Who pissed in your cereal?" said Tre, sitting down.
"Probably you.. Nah, I'm just tired and worried and I just wanna sleep.." mumbled Billie, drifting in between sleeping and staying awake..
"Go to sleep then. You've had a rough day," said Tre, leaning back. "I'm gonna sleep, too.."
They both laid their heads against the wall behind them and soon both of them were asleep.
Billie woke up with a nurse standing in front of them; he jumped, which woke up Tre. Both of them stared at the nurse and said, "WHAT THE FUCK!?" at the same time.
"Just wanted to know if you guys want anything?" said the nurse.
"No, we're fine, "said Billie in a quick response.
Tre nodded.
The nurse left and Billie and Tre were getting kind of creeped out by her.
"Who is she?" said Tre.
"I don't know, but I think she's stalking us," said Billie.
"Well.. We're in a small band called Green Day," said Tre. "Who doesn't stalk us?"
Billie laughed and said, "We're not that famous.."
Tre gave him a look and said, "Let's go visit What's his Face..."
They got up and walked to Mike's room. They walked in and sat down to wait for Mike to wake up.
