Violence of Summer, chapter 10
After a couple of silent moments Adrienne smiled up at Billie as he smiled back. "Can I take another look at that blister?" she asked.
"Huh? I mean... Yeah yeah of course." Billie closed his eyes tightly hitting himself again mentally not realizing how long he had been holding her hand for.
"You know this looks kinda nasty. You wanna put a plaster on that it could get infected or something."
"Yeeah." He said slowly. "Um... You don't... Have any do you?" he asked stupidly.
"No." she laughed. "But I'm sure the 24 hour store down the road will have."
Billie's mouth formed into an 'O' as he nodded his head slowly. "Um... Listen... It's my uh, first night here so I don't... Really know where anything is... Could you uh... Take me?"
Adrienne giggled at Billie making him feel all tingly inside again. "Sure." She shrugged. "I mean... You're pretty badly injured... " she nodded.
Billie Joe nodded his head putting on an innocent face. "Oh yeah... " he said. "I mean you might even have to escort me... "
Adrienne laughed at Billie taking his arm pulling him out of the alleyway. "Come on Billie Joe." She said as a few punks outside the club raised their eyebrows at them. "Let's get you some plasters."
The people outside the club snickered at Billie as he threw them a dirty look not caring what people said about him at this precise moment. Adrienne was holding onto his arm...

Adrienne opened the door to the store as Billie stepped in holding the door open for her with a big cheesy grin spread across his face.
"Such a gentleman." She said poshly. Billie turned a slight shade of pink following her down the aisle. Stop being such a dork... he thought to himself. He stopped next to Adrienne as she took down a box of plasters from the shelf. "These'll do, right?" she asked. Billie nodded his head shrugging as if he didn't really care. "You got some change?"
Billie stuck his hand in his pocket trying not to hiss in pain realizing he had used his "injured" hand. He put some change in her hand as she went up to the desk. He watched her body move biting his bottom lip slightly before following her.
After they had got the plasters they went outside into the hot night as Adrienne stopped Billie grabbing his hand putting the plaster on it.
"You know... I could've done that myself." Billie said.
"Okay tough guy." Adrienne chuckled.
"I've had worse injuries." He said scowling.
"Yeah?" Adrienne smiled crossing her arms over her chest.
"Yeah!" Billie said standing opposite her. "I fell off a tree once, and my elbow was sticking out like this." He said making his elbow go in a weird position as Adrienne raised an eyebrow at him. "And uuuh... This one time at Gilman Street... I was moshing next to this guy, and he punched me so hard in the head... I bled. And I just kept on moshing." Billie said smugly.
"Cool." Adrienne said. "Where's Gilman Street?"
"Oh it's in uh... Oakland. Berkley... Where I live."
"You come from Berkley?" She asked as they both started walking next to each other.
"Yeah I'm here with my band... And my other two friends."
"You're in a band?" Adrienne asked interested.
"Yeah." Billie said puffing out his chest. "We're called Green Day. This is our first tour."
"Oh so your Green Day." She said nodding her head.
"Why do you know us?" Billie said suddenly.
"Well... A friend told me about you guys. Said you were playing tonight but... I guess I missed you."
"Yeeeah... " Billie said slowly. "Hey we're playing tomorrow as well and... It'd be cool if you could come." Billie said stopping to look at her.
"Yeah that'd be cool." She said nodding her head. "Listen I um... Better get back to the club, Darren... My boyfriend'll be wondering where I got to."
For some reason Billie's whole world seemed to crash down to the floor right there. His stomach completely fell to the pit of his body as he looked at Adrienne... Boyfriend did she just say? She has a boyfriend?
"Oh... Uuhm... Okay... " he said nodding his head. "Yeah you better... Yeah... So I'll see you round Adrienne."
Adrienne's face dropped ever so slightly but she smiled back at Billie folding her arms round her back looking up at him. "See you tomorrow."
"Yeah bye." He turned around closing his eyes tightly slapping himself mentally realizing how much of an asshole he was probably seeming to her.
"Bye Billie Joe." She called.
Billie turned round to look at her one more time as she smiled at him and he smiled back.
As Adrienne watched Billie walk off back into the club she shuffled her foot on the ground biting her lips together. He was oh so cute... she smiled to herself laughing at how stupid that sounded in her head. Maybe I should go in there and tell him that I'm not actually going out with Darren.
