Violence of Summer, chapter 32
July '97
Mike gave Tre a small wave as Tre smiled back at him. He watched Mike and his new wife Anastasia shake Ricky's hand at the door as Ricky patted Mike's arm. Tre was glad to see Mike so happy after a long time. He and Ana had been going out for a while... and she made the bassist happier than he had ever been since a certain someone had left. In fact that certain someone was the reason Charlie was taking a very long time to get ready. Something was missing... and the fact that one of Charlie's best friends couldn't be here on her big day made the bride very upset. Adrienne smiled at her from the chair holding onto Joey who was squirming around in her lap.
"Charlie... you look great!" Adrienne re-assured. "Doesn't aunt Chaz look great Joey?" Adie asked her son as Joey nodded his head enthusiastically.
"What if I trip? What if I trip walking up towards the alter!?" Charlie said fearing the worst.
"Then you get up, smile and continue to walk on!" Adrienne laughed. "I'm pretty sure you won't trip up... "
"I hope not... " Charlie smirked looking at Adie. "I mean I know I'm prone to making a complete twit out of myself, but today I'm kind of trying to avoid it... "
Billie flicked the back of Tre's head as he turned around and smiled half-heartedly at his friend.
"Having fun?" Billie asked sitting down on the bench next to him.
"Um... yeah... " Tre said not quite on earth scanning the hall.
"All they need now is Charlie coming out with fishnets on and Billy Idol singing 'White Wedding'" Billie chuckled trying to lighten the situation.
"Hmmm... " Tre mumbled.
"Would you cheer up?" Billie groaned.
"Nah I don't fancy it... " Tre said as his eyes still scanned the room. In his mind he was half hoping what had happened in his dream the previous night was prophetic.
"Well maybe it's time you did cheer up seeing as one of her best friends are already missing - she doesn't want another one being a dick I'm sure... "
Tre turned his head to look at Billie. "Listen Bill... why don't you just shush yeah? I think I know what I'm doing... I don't need you giving me advice anymore... "
"Fine!" Billie said bitterly. "If you fuck up don't expect me to pick up the pieces then you asshole."
"Billie...!"
Billie spun around at the sound of Adrienne's voice as he smiled up at his wife who was holding Joey's hand. "Take your son please and try and calm him down. Charlie's gonna be walking down the isle any second." She smiled. She gave her husband a quick kiss on the lips before rushing back to the back room to where Charlie was. Billie picked up Joey who was giggling and sat him down beside himself.
Tre tapped his hands in his lap impatiently wanting this done and over with soon. What was taking them so long?
"By the way where's your wife?" Billie asked quietly.
"I dunno... " Tre mumbled.
"You don't know where your wife is? What about Mona?"
"I don't know Billie." Tre seethed. "Probably with Mike and Ana... "
Just then Mike came and sat beside Tre on the bench looking at his two friends. "What's up?" he asked happily.
"Oh we were just talking about how beautiful the flowers are. Don't you agree?" Billie said smiling cheerily.
"Absolutely!" Mike said loudly. "Just amazing!" he laughed.
"Would you two shut up?" Tre groaned. "Jesus what is it with you two? You'll be going wine tasting next... "
"Ooooh someone's in a hasty mood!" Mike said in a high voice looking at Billie who snickered loudly. "What's wrong Franky boy? Get none from the wife last night?"
Tre scowled at Mike. "Actually I did... so hush it okay?
"It's okay here come the wives... " Billie whispered before Lisea holding Ramona beside Anastasia sat down beside Mike and Tre.
Tre glanced at Billie who just gave him a look that he ignored putting an arm around his wife kissing her on the cheek lightly.

A year had passed. The boys were playing their shows here and there. A new addition had been made in late 1997 when a little girl named Estelle made Mike pretty much the proudest and happiest father on earth. The surprise of Adrienne's second pregnancy sent more excitement through Billie Joe's blood as the rest of the noble's began making bets on whether it would be a mini Billie Joe or a mini Adrienne this time. The fame of Green Day was brought to a big when Good Riddance was released and they hit their biggest selling single to date winning awards all over the place. Things were on a role. Egos were inflating; bank accounts were expanding... friendships?
San Francisco, California at the house of Ricky and Charlie. It was a late evening 'First Anniversary' party with no children as requested by the host. It was dark by the time people had started to arrive. Tre, Mike and Billie Joe all looking very spiffy and 'toured' out as always, were there at Charlie's request. Adrienne of course, and the other two 'wives' of the Green Day boys were welcomed guests. Along with a few family members the house was pretty crowded and busy... but let's not let that get in the way of things getting out of hand now.
The whole idea of an 'Anniversary Party' made Tre chuckle. Things with him and Lisea weren't at their best right now and they had in fact had an argument before they arrived. Tre was not amused by the attitude that his hormonal wife was throwing at him so he turned to his good friend called alcohol (of which their was plenty of at the house).
"You know you could be a bit more fucking mature Tre." Lisea hissed at him as he swayed on the spot holding his drink.
"Don't start... " Tre groaned. "I think I've had pretty much enough of you for one day... " He took his cigarette packet of his pocket and attempted to take one out.
Lisea shook her head at him disbelievingly. "You are un-believable. I'd appreciate it if you didn't knock them back like that. Otherwise I'm leaving... and you're gonna have to make your own way home."
"FINE!" Tre screeched as he finally got a cigarette out. A few people turned their heads to look at him as he put the cigarette in his mouth.
"Shhh!" Lisea hissed. "You're embarrassing yourself you bastard!"
"Lisea please!" Tre said loudly. "There's no need to get your knickers in a twist... " He chuckled. "They all say that in England you know... its fucking funny... " He paused suddenly looking at the anger in Lisea's eyes. "Have you got a light?" he asked.
Lisea just let out a frustrated groan turning around storming away from the drunkard drummer. Tre just shrugged looking for someone with a light. He filled up his glass yet again and stumbled across the room spotting someone who looked familiar. Once he got over to Ricky he swung his arm around the guy's shoulders as Ricky looked at Tre quite surprised by his sudden action.
"Hi Tre... " Ricky greeted dryly.
"Ricky pal... you gotta light!?" he slurred.
Ricky pulled a lighter out of his pocket as Tre took his arm from his shoulder smiling at the man as Ricky lit his cigarette for him.
"How you handling that drink?" Ricky asked looking down at the glass in Tre's hand.
"I'm handling that drink fine... " Tre spat sourly, taking the cigarette from his mouth blowing the smoke out. "How are you and Charlie doing? Is it weird being married?" Tre was talking quite loudly as Ricky took Tre and pulled him over to a side of the room.
"No. No it isn't weird being married not at all. You see Tre... let me tell you a secret... " Ricky said with a smug smile on his face. Tre looked up at the piercing green eyes that were sinking into his as he tried very hard to keep a focus. "Charlie is a very easy girl for me to get around. She'll do whatever I want her to do you know? I can be a very demanding man... "
"To me... " Tre said poking him. "You seem like a bit of an asshole man... "
Ricky just laughed at the drummer. "Oh I know you've never liked me. Well I've never liked you either. In fact... " Ricky moved closer to Tre so only he could hear him. "I think you're quite pathetic."
"You... think I'm pathetic?" Tre said widening his eyes. "Well... I think... your wife likes me better than you."
Ricky laughed again and it was quite electrifying to Tre's ears. The sinister smile on his face made Tre wanna rip it off. "Better than me? Tre... you're a loser... "
"I'm not a loser... " Tre said waving a finger at him. "I'm a drummer... "
"Yeah I never understood why Charlie ever liked your music. I mean I go along with it and say its okay... but... you guys really do genuinely suck."
"Hey shut up... " Tre said suddenly looking at Ricky seriously. "I don't give a shit what you think you fucking piece of crap."
"I'm sure you don't. And I don't care for the way you're talking to me in my own house. I suggest you leave."
"I suggest you fuck yourself." Tre snickered.
"If you don't leave now... I'll physically remove you."
Tre looked a Ricky for a long time as if trying to come back down to earth. "I... wait... " Tre paused taking another sip of his drink. "Okay... " He said.
"I want you gone when I come back... " Ricky said firmly.
He turned around as Tre scowled at his back. "I want you gone when I come back... " Tre repeated mockingly. He pushed his way through a couple more people making his way over to Charlie in frustration. He had enough of this... that was it... it was time to tell Charlie what a complete fuck Ricky really was.
He went over to her and without even saying hello he grabbed hold of her arm spinning her around. She looked at Tre quite shocked by his sudden action as she smiled at him weakly.
"What's wrong?" she asked quietly being able to sense something going on.
"We need to talk about your husband... " Tre said not bothering to keep his voice down. The few people behind Charlie looked up at the two of them as Charlie widened her eyes.
"What are you talking about?" she whispered.
"He's a bit of a dick cheese... " He said loudly. Billie who was standing near by suddenly heard this remark as he turned around pinching Adrienne's arm.
"Umm honey... think I should do something with him...?" he mumbled.
Charlie eyes flashed with anger trying to stay calm in front of all the people in the front room. "Look I think you've had one too many... please leave okay?" she said quietly.
"Oh no!" Tre said loudly. "Ricky already said he would physically remove me! There is no need Charlie really!"
"Get out." Charlie said simply.
"Oh but Charlie don't do this!" Tre said at the top of his voice so basically the whole room was looking at the two of them now. "Don't deny me Chaz! You knew Ricky wasn't supposed to marry you! You weren't sure of it from the beginning! You didn't even want to marry him did you?"
Billie went forward frantically cutting him off. "Tre come on buddy lets go home... " Billie said grabbing Tre's arm.
"No wait Billie Joe... " Tre said stumbling over giving Billie a re-assuring slap on the face. "I'm just gonna tell my favorite girl how much of an asshole her husband is... "
"Tre c'mon you're just making a fool of yourself man... "
"Bill I'm fine!" Tre laughed almost falling over his own two feet. "Come on Charlie... let me... tell you a secret... " He said taking Charlie's hand.
Ricky suddenly appeared behind Tre taking Tre's other arm pushing Billie aside. "It's okay Billie... I got him a taxi... it seems his wife's already left him in his state."
"Urm... Ricky... " Billie said quite unsure of what this guy was going to do to Tre if he left him alone with him. Ricky had a pretty firm grip on Tre's arm and Tre was still holding onto Charlie's hand not seeming to want to let go.
"Billie just leave it... " Adrienne said taking her husbands arm.
"Ricky its okay... " Charlie said quietly.
"No babe don't worry about it... Tre will be fine I'll make sure he gets in the taxi alright?" Ricky said pulling Tre away from her. Charlie watched Ricky pull a drunk and stumbling Tre out of the house as a few people stared after them. Charlie breathed in heavily putting a hand on her head running it through her new golden auburn hair. Adrienne went over to her looking at her face.
"Are you okay?" she whispered.
Ricky led Tre out of the back door pushing him through it forcefully. He looked back at the house making sure no one was looking as he threw Tre onto the floor with a satisfied smile hearing Tre groan in pain. He walked over to Tre who was lying on the grass as Ricky stood above him. He kneeled down grabbing hold of Tre's face so he was looking at him.
"Oh how I'd love to kick your head in right now... " Ricky sighed. "Making you unconscious could almost satisfy me as much as Charlie does when she's sucking my dick ... "
Tre was blurring out... he could only just make out Ricky's face, but he could hear what he was saying. This man made him sick... he tried to get up but Ricky pushed him back down.
"Let go of me... " Tre whimpered.
"Maybe I'll just choke you... " Ricky smiled. "That neck of yours is looking very inviting... "
Tre was weak. He couldn't move or say anything. His head was starting to spin and he could feel his stomach about to give way. The back door suddenly burst open as Charlie came out into the lawn.
"What happened?" she asked seeing Tre lying on the grass with Ricky knelt down next to him.
"He just passed out... " Ricky said looking down at the man at his feet.
Charlie walked over to the two of them nudging Tre. "Tre wake up you've gotta go home... "
"Babe, don't worry about it... his cab is outside... " Ricky said picking Tre up to his feet.
"Ricky, I'll take him... " Charlie said taking Tre's arm. "It's okay just go back inside... I'll take him... "
Ricky gave in letting Charlie take Tre before kissing her on the lips. "If he gives you any trouble you come in and get me okay?"
"I'll be fine... " Charlie replied with a weak smile. She dragged a half passed out Tre through the garden opening the gate to see a car flash its lights as she tried to get Tre to walk on his own two feet.
"Tre, try and fucking walk!" Charlie said starting to get pissed off.
Tre just mumbled something making an attempt to walk over to the cab. She stopped before opening the door as Tre tried to stand up and look at her in the face.
"I've got-" Tre started but Charlie cut him off by slapping him hard across the face.
"Don't ever do that to me again you bastard!" she screamed. Tre just tried to lift his head feeling as if it had just fallen off from her slap. "Get in the fucking car!" She opened the door and pushed him in as the cab driver looked at the two of them in the mirror quite interested in what was going on.
"I forgot where I live... come with me... " Tre slurred.
Charlie looked at Tre menacingly. "Well done Tre. You just blew our friendship. I fucking hate you. And I never ever want to see you again do you understand?" With that Charlie stood up and slammed the cab door shut.
Mike gave Tre a small wave as Tre smiled back at him. He watched Mike and his new wife Anastasia shake Ricky's hand at the door as Ricky patted Mike's arm.
