Soda Pop And Ritalin, chapter 6
"Can you get that please!" came a voice from the bathroom.
"Yeh sure."
Jackie swallowed her last piece of toast off and answered the phone.
"The Armstrong resident."
"Jackie, good, just the person I needed to speak to."
It was Tre. Jackie paused.
"Jackie?"
"Oh yeh, sorry. What about?"
"I can't tell you that. Come around to my place and I'll tell you."
"O... k."
"O right then, see you soon."
"Bye."
"Oh Jackie wait!"
"Yeh what is it?"
"Don't tell Billie."
"I won't."
"Bye."
Jackie put the phone down slowly and swallowed the air in her mouth and sat down at the table. What if he was thinking about her as much as she was thinking about him? No, it must be something else. Jackie shook her head then grabbed her jacket and bag and opened the front door.
"I'm just gonna go out window shopping, see you later Billie."
"Ok, bye!" came a muffled voice from the bathroom.

Standing outside Tre's house she took a deep breath and knocked on the door. Tre quickly opened the door stuck his head out and looked round then pulled Jackie inside. Jackie was quite shocked at this so when inside she didn't quite understand what had happened but soon snapped out of it.
"Sit down." He said gesturing towards the sofa.
They both sat down and there was silence until Jackie said, "So, what did you want to tell me?"
"Well, the thing is... you see... I just wanted to say... "
"Spit it out." She joked.
"I've got feelings for you, I haven't stopped thinking about you since I first met you. I know it's a bit of a shock but... "
Jackie's heart stopped then after recovering from the sudden truth she interrupted him.
"Tre."
"Yeh?"
"Why?" she whispered to herself whilst looking down on the charm bracelet Billie Joe had given her.
"Why what?"
"Why do I have to feel the same way? Why do you have to feel the same way? Why did it happen? Why is it so difficult?"
"Wait."
Jackie looked up at Tre.
"So your telling me you haven't been able to get me off your mind either?"
Jackie sighed then looked into Tre's blue eyes. "Yeh."
"Well, in that case... "
"No!"
Tre looked at Jackie and was shocked at her sudden response.
Jackie realised how she had just said it and quickly changed her tone. "Tre, I'm going out with Billie. I can't do this. You can't do this either. Tre, think about how Billie would feel. And he's practically your best friend. I don't want to get in between that. I'm sorry.'
"But... "
Jackie stood up and grabbed her bag then held her finger up to Tre's lips then kissed him gently to quiet him. She stood up and walked out of Tre's house. When she had left Tre sunk down into the sofa and sighed.
"She's right." And with that Tre turned the TV on started to munch on his chips.

"That was quick." Billie said as Jackie entered.
"Yeh, it was pretty bleak." She lied.
"So you wanna go get lunch?"
"Yeh, sure." Jackie said, still a bit dazed at what had happened earlier.
"Cool, do you wanna go just us two or with Mike and Tre?"
"I don't really mind to be honest."
"Cool. I'll call Tre and Mike right away then."
"Yeh... cool."
Billie dialled the number to Tre's house first.
"Hey Tre, its me Billie. Do you wanna come to lunch with me and Jack? No, Jackie! Yeh? Allrighty then. Ok. Bye"
Next he dialled Mike's.
"Hey is Mike there? Thanks. Hey Mike. You wanna go to lunch? Me, Tre and Jackie. Starbucks most probably. Good. See ya then, all right. Bye. "
"Yeh, theyre both coming."
"Who are?!"
Billie Joe looked confused. "Mike and Tre? Ring any bells?"
"Oh yeh. Sorry."
Billie laughed then walked up to Jackie and hugged her tight. "That's, what I like about you. Sometimes your so clueless it's funny." He then kissed her on the forehead and walked into the living room.
She heard Billie's voice.
"We're gonna go in like 10 minutes so if you wanna get ready then now would be the time."
"yeh ok." She had been thinking about what Billie had said. Was she too clueless to realise that what she wanted was right infront of her?

"That was nice." Billie said as they walked into the house after they had had lunch with Tre and Mike.
"It was, wasn't it?" Jackie hadn't thought about Tre the whole time, not even about what happened when she went "window shopping". All she could think about was Billie and that was all that mattered to her.
"Billie."
"Yeh?"
"I... I love you!"
"Really? Wow! I love you too I suppose!" and as he said this he pulled her in and kissed her passionately.
"Yeh sure."
Jackie swallowed her last piece of toast off and answered the phone.
