Untitled, chapter 5
Review: Billie got up off the couch, walked over towards the counter, grabbed the keys, and headed out the door.
It felt weird driving Christy's car, seeing as how it wasn't really his. This body wasn't even his. But every thing felt so natural to him. So Billie ignored the feeling and kept driving.
He didn't really know where he was going or how long it would take to get there. He just drove as fast as he could, where ever he could. Finally the surroundings started to look familiar. He knew where he was. He recognized some of the buildings as the ones he used to spend time with Adrienne.
That's when it started to happen. The memories he had of Adrienne started to become mixed up with the ones he had with Christy. Adrienne's face was being replaced with Christy. Was he forgetting Adrienne?
Just as this thought popped in his head, he spotted his own car in a local coffee shops parking lot. Who else could have his car other than Adrienne? Finally he could see her again. Billie slammed on his brakes and turned into the lot as fast as he could.
He climbed out of the car faster than he had ever done in his life. His pulse was racing, his heart beating faster and faster. He felt like he was going to see her for the first time. As if he was falling for her all over again.
Billie finally reached the doors to the coffee shop. He opened them and walked in. He saw Adrienne sitting next to one of the windows....but there was someone with her. It was Mike. At first this didn't strike him as odd, considering he was his best friend he must be comforting her. After all, Billie had just died. But something stopped him dead in his tracks. If he was only comforting her....and he was his best friend....why were they holding hands?
Billie grabbed a seat at a table behind the two. He listened into their conversation as hard as he could.
"It's been hard lately." Adrienne said. She lowered her head and stared down towards the table.
"I understand. I'm here for you." Mike said. He lifted her head with his hand. Adrienne smiled.
"Do you think we're taking this a little too fast?" Adrienne asked.
"Part of me thinks so. But I knew I loved you ever since the moment I saw you." Mike answered. His grip on her hand tightened.
"I loved Billie. More than I think he knew. He....he changed. There was just something about him that I didn't like anymore. I still loved him, but...I don't know how to explain it. The flame wasn't there anymore. But I love you. I don't think I can go through this without you're help. I love you Mike." Adrienne confessed.
Billie's fist tightened. He heart was racing once again, but this time with anger. He'd been dead what, a couple days? And Adrienne is already hooking up with someone else! What made it worse, it was Mike! His best friend.
Slamming his fists down ontop of the table, Billie got up and stormed out of the coffee shop. He stormed back to Christy's car. He got inside and drove off towards his new home.
