Untitled, chapter 9

Christy sat alone on her couch in her lonely apartment. After she had cried for a good hour or two, she had walked in to find the livingroom completely empty. Now she sat still crying. Waiting to see if anyone was to come home.

The door opened slowly. Billie entered the room, closing the door after he was completely in. He saw Christy sitting on the couch alone wrapped in a blanket. Her head lifted at the sound of his footsteps. He could tell she had been crying, her eyeliner was running down her face. Even in this state, she looked so beautiful.

He slowly approached her on the couch. Sitting down, he took her hands in his.

"I thought you weren't coming back." Christy sobbed.

"I'd never leave you." Billie responded. He placed a hand on her face feeling her cold skin. "I hate seeing you like this."

Christy continued to shed tears. She stared deeply into Billie's eyes wondering what would happen next. Was he going to leave her?

"We can't go on like this." Christy said. "I can't."

"I agree." Billie said. He brought his hand back to his side. He reached deep into his pocket. "That's why I have to ask you."

Billie stood up from the couch only to crouch down on the floor. He let go of one of Christy's hands and continued to hold the other.

"Christy..." He started. Billie brought out the tiny black box and opened it in front of her. Christy gave out a gasp.

"Will you marry me?" Billie let out finally. Christy was swept over with a wave of emotion. Tears started to form at the base of her eyes again, this time they were tears of joy.

"Yes!" She cried out. Reaching towards him she leapt into Billie's arms. "I love you so much!"

"I love you too!"

The two spent the rest of the night like that, in each others arms. Christy never asked where Billie had gone too, she never asked where he had gotten the ring. Billie never asked how much he had hurt Christy. The love was there, and that's all that mattered.

And that night as the two enjoyed each other's company on the balcony of the apartment, both of them could tell the stars were shinning brighter than ever. They were shinning just for them.
