It Started Out With Coffee At Starbucks, chapter 27
There standing was Billie.
"Adrienne told me to come by to check on you."
"Oh. Well, tell her I'm fine. You can go now Billie I'll be fine here. I have to go pick up the kids in two hours anyways. I'll find something to do around here till then."
"Rachel, you're not fine. You're a complete wreck. And you're so sad. Even if you're trying to act happy, I can see it in your eyes. What's wrong? Come sit on the bed and tell me what's eating you up inside."
Billie took Rachel's hand and they walked over to the king size bed.
Billie sat down and then patted the space next to him, signalling for Rachel to sit down next to him.
Rachel sat and Billie said "Open up to me Rachel. Tell me everything that's wrong. I'm not the enemy in this. I may be best friends with the enemy but I'm on no one's side."
"What if when Mike wakes up, he leaves me? Like he comes home and tells me to pack my things and get out. I don't want to get a divorce I love Mike so much even after his affair with Brittney I just want him to be okay and come back to me."
"Rachel, Mike loves you so much. I know he wants to be happily married to you again. And I'm sure you'll work through everything when the time is right."
Rachel started to cry and said "He's going to take everything away from me. Leilah, Mikey and Sam especially. He said back in January when I found out that he'd fight for full custody."
Billie pulled her into a hug and whispered "Everything will be okay."
He put his hand under her chin, lifted her head up and kissed her softly on the lips.
"Calm down. Rach, there is no way I'd let him do that to you."
Rachel kissed Billie and the kiss became passionate.
Within minutes, Billie and Rachel were having sex on a bed that Mike and Rachel had once used so frequently.
Twenty minutes later, Billie and Rachel laid side by side panting for air. "Oh my god Billie... how are we going to tell Adrienne and Mike?"
Billie looked into Rachel's blue eyes and said "We're not going to."
With that, he got up and got dressed in the clothes he was wearing before their romp. Rachel sat up, wrapping the sheet around her and said "But how can we not tell them? You saw what happened between me and Mike when he didn't tell me about Brittney. How can you say you're not going to tell Adie? And if Mike takes me back I have to tell him."
"Rachel...for the sake of our marriages don't tell anyone what just happened. It never going to happen again either."
Billie walked over to the edge of the bed, kissed Rachel lightly on the forehead and said "I'll talk to you soon. And actually, that might have to happen again sometime really soon."
As the next few weeks progressed, Rachel and Billie continued with their affair with no one finding out but at the beginning of March, the 2nd to be exact, Billie went over to Rachel's for his usual visit but after their romp then he told her that he couldn't keep cheating on Adrienne with her and that they would have to go back to being just friends and never tell anyone of their affair.
On the 15th, an entire month and nearly a half after the accident, Mike had since woken up three weeks prior and was now able to go home.
When Brittney went to go pick him up the day he was being released, she walked into his hospital room to find him buckling his belt securing his jeans on his skinnier than usual body.
"Hey sweetie."
Brittney kissed Mike's cheek and then he said "Britt sit down for a minute."
Brittney sat down on the bed, Mike pulled his t-shirt on and then said "I've been thinking about a lot of things since I woke up and I've realized that I need to be with Rachel. We had our shot years ago at being a couple and I don't want my kids going through what I did as a child. It's bad enough that Estelle has to live in between me and Annie."
"But back on tour you said you wanted to leave Rachel for me. And she said she wanted you to die and so much more. You told me you were sick of how she treats you. Rachel's so mean to you, she doesn't care about your feelings like I do. Why now do you want to go back to her?"
"After being stuck here for as long as I have been, it's made me realize. I took vows with Rachel. And I want to stick to them. I want to be happily married to the mother of my three youngest children. I want to have more kids before I'm 40."
"We can have kids."
"We had a daughter and she died. What if that happens again? That's something you can't control Brittney."
Brittney looked at her feet and whispered "I'm pregnant again."
Mike's eyes grew wide and he said "What?"
Brittney looked up at him and said "I said I'm pregnant again with your child. I'm three and a half months along."
Brittney stood up and said "Your wife can come pick you up. I'm going home."
Brittney walked out of the hospital room, leaving Mike standing there in shock.
An hour later, Mike was on his way home in the front seat of Tre's black SUV when Rock & Roll Queen began to play on the radio.
Tre looked over at Mike and said "How'd it go with Britt?"
"You're driving me home. Aren't you?"
"Not well then?"
"No. And she told me she was pregnant again."
Mike looked out his window and said "That's just perfect. I'm about to ask the woman I'm married to for her forgiveness and then I have to tell her my mistress is having my child. For the second time."
"Mike...it's Rachel we're talking about. She'll take it hard in the beginning but will forgive you right away. Just tell her everything you need to straight from the heart."
As they drove past a flower shop, Mike looked at Tre and said "Pull over."
Tre did as he was told then said "Why?"
"I'll be back in a second."
Mike got out of the SUV and made his way down the sidewalk to the flower shop.
Ten minutes later, Mike emerged from the shop carrying a bouquet of six white roses, six pink roses and six white roses.
As he climbed back into the front passenger seat of the SUV, Tre said "You made me stop for those."
"Rachel loves roses."
Tre sighed and said "Okay. Can we head to your place now?"
"Yes Tre."
Fifteen minutes later, Tre pulled the SUV up the long driveway to Mike and Rachel's house.
As soon as the car was stopped, Mike got out of the car, got his bag out of the backseat and made his way towards the front door.
As he was getting his keys out of his jeans pocket, the door swung open and Rachel pulled Mike into a hug.
"I'm so glad you're home. The kids have been dying to see you. But I've really been dying to see you."
Rachel kissed Mike passionately and said "I want us to be so happy again like before. I don't care if you want to sleep with Brittney as well as me, I just want to be your wife."
Mike smiled and said "I broke it off with Brittney for good. And I'm glad you feel that way."
Mike kissed Rachel and as he dropped his bag, she let him go and took the flowers from him.
"So, it's over between you two?"
"Mm hmm."
"Oh, Mike that's great."
Rachel hugged Mike tighty then he said "Okay easy on me. Remember I was in a car accident a month and a half ago."
"Right sorry."
Rachel kissed Mike's cheek and he said "Are the kids home?"
"Nope. Estelle and Abby are at school then Estelle's going to Anastasia's and Abby's spending the night at her friend's house..."
"Which friend?"
"Ella...you met her at Abby's party last year. And Leilah, Mikey and Sam are at preschool then Adie's picking them up for me and she's bringing Sam home but taking Leilah and Mikey to the park with Jessica."
"So, we have the house to ourselves..."
"Until about 4 but are you even in good enough condition to be thinking of doing that."
"Maybe later for that. But right now, we need to talk and get everything off our chests of what has gone on."
"Um...okay."
Rachel bit her lip, thinking of her affair with Billie then said "Well come inside. I just started making a pot of coffee."
"You're an angel."
Mike kissed Rachel, picked up his bag and walked inside towards the kitchen.
As she closed the door behind herself, Rachel whispered, "I have to tell him about Billie."
She sighed and walked down the hall to join Mike in the kitchen.
As Rachel walked into the kitchen, she saw Mike standing at the counter, pouring two cups of coffee into cups set before himself.
"How do you want it?"
"Um...the usual. Milk and sugar."
"Okay."
A minute or so later, Mike set the mug down in front of Rachel who was now sitting at the island and as he leaned into kiss her, Rachel said "Mike there's something I really need to get off my chest."
"I'm sure in can wait."
Mike leaned in for a kiss again and Rachel said "It can't. Please, sit down and listen."
Rachel stood up and walked over to the cupboard to get a vase out while Mike sat in the seat just previously occupied by her.
As Rachel filled the vase with enough water to help her roses survive, she took a deep breath then said "Mike, I'm so glad we're going to start over and that we're going to talk to get a bunch of stress off our backs. So, right now, I'm going to start. There's no easier way I can think of to tell you. I had an affair with Billie. And no one knew except for us until now. He didn't want to tell anyone actually. And I feel so bad about it. I mean it wasn't bad sex, it was great but I couldn't get you off my mind. I knew I shouldn't be cheating on you like that even if you had done it to me."
Mike looked out in the backyard then said "How long was it going on?"
"About two weeks, from just before his birthday to just after Joey's."
"Did it happen a lot?"
"What do you mean?"
"Was it just like a few times or this crazy number?"
"Maybe 25 times. One night he came over around midnight and Adrienne was already asleep, so he spent the night and we had sex about six times that night plus other days it was twice or even three times. That's why it's so many."
Mike nodded then said "Brittney's pregnant again."
He stood up and walked out of the kitchen and up the stairs to the second floor, leaving Rachel standing in shock and a cup half full of coffee.
Once she got over the shock, Rachel grabbed her car keys, quickly wrote Mike a note saying she would be back soon and then she left.
As Rachel drove the thirty minutes to Billie and Adrienne's house, she had one thing on her mind. She had to tell Adrienne about the affair. Because she knew what horrible things could happen if she didn't.
When she arrived at Billie and Adrienne's, she found Joey and Jakob playing catch with a football in the frontyard.
"Hey guys, is your mom or dad home?"
Joey looked over and said "Dad is. Mom's gonna be back any minute from the grocery store."
"Okay."
Rachel walked inside and as she was walkeing down the hall to the kitchen, she bumped into Billie who was coming down the stairs.
"Rachel what are you doing here? Isn't Mike home? Or is he like in the car or something?"
"He's at home. And I came to tell you that I told Mike about us. And I think you should tell Adie or I will."
"I'm not telling her a single thing. And you realized you just made your marriage crash and burn."
"I already let Mike do that and besides, since Brittney's pregnant again. Even though Mike broke it off. I pretty sure it would've crashed and burned without my help anyways. Now, either you tell Adrienne when she gets home or I will."
"Tell me what?"
Billie and Rachel looked towards the front door and saw Adrienne standing there and Joey and Jakob standing behind her carrying grocery bags.
Billie laughed nervously then said "Mike and Rachel. They're gonna try it again." Rachel gave Billie a dirty look then said "That's not it. Billie tell her."
Billie looked from Rachel to his wife and his sons then said "Boys, bring the bags into the kitchen then put the things away and go up to your rooms."
"Yeah."
"Sure."
Joey and Jakob walked pass the three adults and into the kitchen then Billie, Adrienne and Rachel made their way into the living room.
"Adie honey, sit down."
Adrienne sat down on the leather couch, and Billie sat on the coffee table facing her while Rachel leaned against the door frame.
"I'm so sorry Adie but I cheated on you. With Rachel."
Adrienne's eyes filled with tears and Billie said "It meant nothing to me. It was just this spur of the moment thing and it will never happen again I swear."
As the tears began to roll down Adrienne's cheeks, Billie took her hands in his, kissed them and said "Adie baby, I'm so sorry."
Billie looked up into Adrienne's dark brown eyes and she nodded.
Adrienne stood up, wipped the tears off her cheeks, and walked over to Rachel.
As they stood face to face, Rachel said "I'm sorry Adrienne. I really am."
Adrienne slapped Rachel across the face, pointed towards the front door and said "Get out of my house. You fucking bitch, I was there for you when your husband cheated and then you cheat on him with mine. I thought you were my best friend."
Rachel walked out of the house as she began to cry and then, as she started her Lexus, she broke down.
"Adrienne told me to come by to check on you."
