"My god Rach... Would you get your ass out of bed. Your man's here." Rachel opened her eyes, blinked a few times to focus on her sister and said "Who's here?" "Uh... Mike... Duh. You moron." "You're kidding?" "Uh no. Don't go out to see him yet either... You look like shit." "Thanks Bridget." Rachel climbed out of bed and Bridget said "So where'd you two go last night?" "Out with Tre, Billie, Claudia and Adrienne." Rachel walked into the bathroom with her clothes in her arms and Bridget followed her. When Rachel opened the door, Bridget was standing there and Rachel went back to putting her make-up on. Bridget laughed and said "You look like a skank..." "How?" "The miniskirt and tank top... It's like you want to get Mike's attention." "I do... He is my boyfriend after all." "YOUR WHAT?!" "Boyfriend... You know this thing where you date a guy and..." Then she walked out into the living room and Mike said "Took you long enough to get up." Bridget walked out behind Rachel and mumbled "Because she wanted to look like a skank for you." But only Rachel heard her. She gave Bridget an evil look and said "So what brings you to my room so early?" "I thought we could go grab something to eat for breakfast or get a coffee then find something to do for the day." "Okay." Rachel and Mike left and went to one of their favorite places in the world. Once they got their coffees they sat down and Mike said "So... I really don't want to go but tour starts back up tomorrow." "Yeah I know I was going to go to that concert but I have to go back to work the day after tomorrow so we fly home to Toronto tomorrow." "You could come on tour with me... If you wanted. That way when we don't have shows or photoshoots or some press thing all my time is yours." "I don't know what my boss would say since I'm leaving in two weeks for college." "Where are you going?" "NYU... The same place I've gone for the past 5 years." "So you'll be in New York when we're there the first of October?" "Yeah... Bridget's decided to fly down so we can go to TRL to see you guys then go to the concert at Madison Square." "I can get you two backstage passes and you know what else?" "Wha?" "You should come on tour then." "I couldn't... I mean we've been dating a day. I've got school. You're a rockstar." Just then three teenaged girls came up to Mike and Rachel's table. "Oh my god... Mike Dirnt! Can we have your autograph?" Mike looked at the three teenagers, then to Rachel and said "Anything for some fans." He signed their autographs and when they walked away Mike said "Sorry about that Rach." "It's fine... It's your job." "Now... I'll say what I would've before the teenies came over. Sure we've been dating for a day but I feel like I've known you my whole life... And as for school... You can take some time off and when tour's over come out to Oakland for school and as for my job that won't do a thing to our relationship." Rachel looked up at Mike and thought "Did he just say relationship? He just said relationship. Oh my god he just said relationship! My god it's only been a day." Finally she spoke and said "If it's what you would like... I'll take time off and come on tour with you." "Good." Mike leaned over the table and kissed Rachel. Their first kiss and certainly not their last. Rachel's heart skipped a beat. As Mike pulled away he said "Shall we go?" "Where to?" "I don't really know." They laughed and Mike said "We could go to a movie or we could drive to Oakland for the day... It is only like a two hour drive with right now's traffic. We could like take Estelle out somewhere for the day since it's Saturday and..." He looked at his watch "It's 10am... We'd get there by 1 at the latest... Spend a few hours with Stella then we could drive back and go somewhere for dinner." "It would be cool to hang out with your daughter for the day." "Then let's go." Mike took Rachel's hand, they picked up their coffees and walked down the road to the hotel and got in an elevator and went down a floor to the car park and they walked over to where Mike's BMW was parked.
"Wow your car is so pretty." "You like? I just bought it... I had to get rid of the old one." They got in, Mike put the key in the ignition and turned the car on. As they drove out of the car park, Rachel turned on the radio just as the DJ was saying "And now we've got the newest single from Green Day... This is Boulevard of Broken Dreams, track 4 off of their new album American Idiot." Then the music started and Rachel turned it up, smiled and Mike said "First time on a radio that I know of... It's about damn time too... The video's gonna be out in a month and a half." "It is?" "Yeah... We filmed it a couple of weeks ago. Billie got the good copy back last week. It's pretty cool." "Now that I can't wait to see." Mike laughed and said "You'll get to be on some video shoots if you come on tour." "Oh cool." For the next hour and half, they drove to Oakland talking about each other's lives and listening to songs on the radio. Eventually they pulled into the driveway of a big house and Mike said "Well here we are... Anastasia's house." They got out the car and walked up to the door. Mike knocked once and they walked in then he yelled "Estelle! You home baby girl?" Then from the top of the stairs Estelle yelled back "Daddy!" She ran down the stairs and into Mike arms. He kissed her forehead and swung her around. "I thought you were on tour daddy?" "I am but me, uncle Billie and uncle Tre are in California and we have today off so I thought I'd come visit you and me and Rachel could take you to the park or to a movie cause I know you want to go see Finding Nemo again." "Who's Rachel?" Mike pulled one arm away from around Estelle and pulled Rachel over by him. "Stella this is Rachel... Daddy's new girlfriend." The little girl clung to her father and said "Hi." "Hi Estelle." Then Anastasia and her husband Tim came out of the kitchen and Anastasia said "I thought I heard voices. Hi Mike." "Hi Annie." "Who's this?" Anastasia walked over to Rachel and said "Hi I'm Anastasia. One of Mike's ex-wives and you must be a new girlfriend." "Rachel and yeah." The two shook hands and Mike said "Annie could me and Rachel take Estelle out for a few hours?" "Oh yeah sure. It's good you want to spend sometime with our daughter before you up and leave without saving goodbye to her again." "Annie... We were in a hurry that morning." "You know she misses you Mike. Everytime you leave it's me who has to explains to her that daddy had to go away to work and won't be home for a few months." "You know I would take her with me." "But she has school..." Mike put Estelle down and told her to go put her jacket and shoes on. As Estelle did as her father had told her to do, Mike stood up, put his arm around Rachel's waist and said "So, I'll get her a tutor thing... Billie and Adie get one for Joey and Jakob and Tre gets one for Ramona." "But when you're doing things for the band no one will be watching Stella... What if she gets hurt?" "I'll make a deal with you. There's a week break from October 5th till 12th. Me and Rachel will fly out then, pick up Estelle and she came come on the 3 month tour." "She'll have Christmas on tour Michael. That's not a life for a 7-year old." "God you haven't called me Michael since we got the divorce. And before you make your decision realize that Rachel will be with me on tour... She'll have Estelle with her everywhere." "If you promise she'll always have someone watching her she can go." "I promise." Rachel nodded and said "I'll keep a good eye on her I have a niece and two nephews you can be sure nothing will happen. I can watch kids Estelle's age." "Okay Stella can go on tour Mike." Then Estelle ran over and said "I'm ready to go daddy." "Okay but before we do... Guess what?" "What?" "Mommy said you can come on tour with daddy and Rachel soon." "Really?" "Yeah... And in just 37 days." "Is that a long time?" Mike bent down, picked his beloved daughter up and said "Yeah but it'll fly by because you'll be so excited." "Are Joey and Jakob and Ramona gonna be on tour too?" "Maybe I can ask uncle Billie and Tre." "Otay." Mike, Estelle and Rachel said their goodbyes and the three left for the movies.
