Basketcase, chapter 20
We drove up to the hospital and Mike let us out at the entrance before driving off to park. Billie and I walked in and saw Tre sitting with his head in his hands. I walked over and sat next to him, putting my arm around his back.
"She's ok now, the police know what's going on and they are on the look for her." I said, trying to comfort him. After a while I realized that her father had no clue what was going on, he still thought Erin was with her mother. I stood up and motioned that I'd be right back. I walked outside and pulled out my phone. Mike stepped up beside me as I was dialing Erin's father's number.
"Her dad needs to know about this." Mike stated.
"I'm calling him now," I told him, "Tre's inside with Billie." Mike nodded and continued through the double doors.
The phone rang a few times before her father piked up, surprisingly, I don't think I woke him... Of course he wouldn't have been able to sleep. I told him what was going on and he replied with a quick thanks, and hung up, no doubt on his way here. I walked back inside and sat down next to Billie, resting my head on his shoulder. He stroked my hair for a moment, before taking my hand in his.
Erin's father walked in, and not soon after, Erin walked out into the waiting room. The doctor followed her and talked to her father for a moment. I looked back to Erin, who was being suffocated by Tre. Once freed, she told us what the doctor had told her.
"Three ribs are badly bruised, but they should heal within two weeks. But I'm not allowed to do ANYTHING for a week." She said, eyeing Tre at the last part. He tried his hardest look innocent, it wasn't working. I stood and hugged her gently, whispering in her ear.
"Glad you're back... Tre and I had a plan to go rescue you." I said. She giggled before releasing me. We decided that for tonight it would be best for her to stay with her father. We all left the hospital and drove home. I went with Mike, and Billie went with Tre.
"So... Are you still going to do it?" Mike asked me. I nodded.
"Yeah, nothing's changed..." I replied. He looked at me and tried to smile. I could see the sorrow in his eyes. Little did anyone else know, I had a plan of my own, and Mike was the only one who knew about it...
