Band-Aids Only Cover Up The Issues, chapter 1
"HEY YOU, FREAK WITH THE NOSE RING" I kept walking even though I knew it was me that they were referring to.
Someone tapped me on the shoulder and I flinched, I turned expecting the usual slap, punch or pinch from one of my peers.
But instead as I turned I looked up into the most spectacular, sparkling blue eyes I had ever seen. What I saw in those eyes was not the usual contempt or utter hatred that I was used to but instead a warmth and kindness of that which totally suprised me.
"Uuum... Excuse me, could you tell me where I can find the oval?" said the owner of the blue eyes.
"Yeah I suppose I could, I'm heading up there myself" I replied lying. I wasn't really going up to the oval but I suppose it wouldn't hurt.
"Thanks for that. My name's Frank but my friends call me Tre Cool." he said
"Oh okay. What can I call you then?"
"You can call me Tre if you want."
"Ok then Tre".

At the oval Tre started to walk away,
"Hey Tre where you goin?" I asked desperate to have someone with me up here.
"I'm just going to go get some of the good stuff if you know what I mean."
"You can use mine if you want Tre."
"Really thanks so much"
I pulled out a joint and passed it to Tre he lit it up and smoked it like a pro.
"Aren't you having any?" he asked me casually
"Nah thanks last time I did I wandered off and some stuff happened to me so I sort of gave up"
"Fair enough" Tre said and brushed it aside "so what are you doing after school?"
"Oh probably nothing I said" I wrote down my address on a piece of paper and handed it to him "you can drop around if you want."
"Yeah k" said Tre.
***
After school I walked over to the gate and was on the way home when I felt my bag being ripped off my shoulders. My first instinct was to run but my legs wouldn't move. I turned around and felt a sharp blow to my stomach. I fell hard and landed on the unforgiving concrete I looked up bleary eyed and saw Matt the most preppy guy at our school pulling stuff out of my bag. I tried to speak but nothing came out.
"Hey leave her alone" I heard someone yell not long away I looked toward the voice and saw Tre flanked by two taller boys about the same age standing there. That's when I passed out...
