Cause She's 2,000 Light Years Away (A Mike Dirnt Story), chapter 1

"Look." Mike pointed at the stars above them.

"It looks so surreal, as if we are staring at the entire Universe."

Mike slowly sat down on the grass as she admired the beauty of the stars and the moon. After a few minutes of silence, she followed his action and sat beside him, enjoying the scenery.

"So I guess you like this place, huh?" Mike asked as he turned to face her.

"Yeah. It's so quiet and spacious. It seems like we are in our own world." She turned to look at him but found that he was staring right into her brown eyes. 'Wow! Look at those forget-me-not blues. They are so hypnotic. I could stare at them forever,' she thought.

When she snapped out of her short trance, she realized that their noses were barely one inch apart. She could now feel his hot breath on her cool, pale cheeks. Her heart beat speeded as she knew what was about to happen.

Before she could collect herself, Mike's lips came crashing onto hers. It started out soft but now it had evolved to a more intense kiss. His left hand was now exploring her body as his right hand brushed softly against her cheek. 'I have to stop this,' she told herself mentally. But she couldnt help to touch his silky blond hair that glowed under the luminescent moon.

When he broke off the kiss, a soft whimper escaped her throat. She face turned beet red, as Mike chuckled at her.

"That was a hell of a kiss, don't you think?" Mike teased with one of his eyebrows raised.

Eleanor hit his shoulder at the remark and glanced at him angrily.
"Okay, okay. I give up." He raised his hands as in surrendering himself. She ignored him and stared at the vast sky again.

Mike shrugged and stretched out on the grass and placed his hands behind his head to lie on. "Look. There's an arrow shaped object."

"Where?" Eleanor asked in curiosity as she lied on the grass.

"There!" He pointed at the sky. She gazed at the wallpaper for a few minutes. "I see it. There's also a triangular shape, right beside it."

"Oh yeah. I didnt see that," he admitted, relieved that she wasn't mad anymore.

So they spend the next hour searching different shaped objects in the sky, competing with each other. At the end, Mike found 6 different shapes while Eleanor found 5.

"Come on, let's send you home," Mike said as he stood up and offered her his hand. She took it swiftly and stood right beside him. "Thanks."

"No problemo," Mike answered with a sincere smile.

They walked side by side back to his blue scooter. Whilst she was enjoying the melody of the crickets' song, she was suddenly interrupted by a hand entwined with hers. After she realized that it was Mike's, she smiled and walked silently.

On their way to her house, she wrapped her arms around his waist as the cold wind rushed past her, enjoying the warmth that was generated from him.

Eleanor sneaked into the house quietly and tiptoed up the wooden stairs and into her bedroom, hoping that she did not wake anyone.

"ELEANOR! WHERE THE HELL HAD YOU BEEN? DO YOU KNOW HOW LATE IT IS!" a voice boomed at the end of the hallway. And in matter of seconds, her bedroom door flung open and a large drunken man stood in her doorway.

"THE DISHES AND LAUNDRY ARENT GONNA CLEAN THEMSELVES, YOU KNOW!" he roared. Her body trembled as she stuttered,"Im sorry Jack..."

His hand slapped her right on the cheek and sends her tumbling down onto the carpeted wooden floor."IF YOU EVER COME HOME PAST TEN O'CLOCK AGAIN, DONT EVEN WISH THAT YOU COULD GO TO COLLEGE NEXT YEAR!"

"Yes, Jack," she muttered and picked herself from the floor and started towards the door, down the stairs and into the dining room.
