Cause She's 2,000 Light Years Away (A Mike Dirnt Story), chapter 12

Eleanor got up at ten and came into the kitchen in tracksuit bottoms and a sweater. Her hair was pulled back with a clip, wisps falling over her cheeks. Mike took a sip from his cup of coffee.

"Morning," she greeted, helping herself to coffee.

"Morning, Elle. Are you okay? Did you sleep well?"

"Yeah. I'm good after a long bath." She smiled at him.

While she waited for the bread to be toasted. She leaned on the counter, drumming her fingers and gazing idly out the window. He couldn't help glancing from time to time at her slim figure. "I'm going to the park after this, do you want to come?" she asked.

"Yeah, sure. I got a job interview at 12. 30, so, it's fine."

Mike and Eleanor strolled through the park that was full with elderly people and a few parents with their children on the sunny Sunday morning.

"Race you," Mike challenged.

"Okay."

"On the count of three. One... Two... " Eleanor sprang with Mike chasing and yelling behind her. She laughed and stopped under a large oak tree, breathing in as much air as she could. Suddenly, Mike came plunging towards her, tackling her down to the grass.

"Hey!" she yelled. Her eyes widen when she saw what Mike was about to do. He tickled her, making her laugh and scream. People, who walked past them, gave them strange looks and some smiled at their blooming love.

When Mike stopped, Eleanor took in as much air as she could while scowling at Mike. He grinned evilly and shrugged. "Oh, shit! It's almost 12. I'm sorry Elle but I really have to go," Mike said apologetically.

"It's okay. I understand." He kissed her and ran towards his scooter. "Good luck!" she shouted.

Eleanor sighed and played 1, 039 Smoothed Out/ Slappy Hours on her cassette player. She sang along whilst continuing her Green Day scrap book. 'It's dumb but still it would be something nice to keep for later years, ' she thought and stuck the picture onto the colored paper.

"Fuck!" Eleanor cursed as she remembered that she was supposed to do the grocery shopping before Jack returns tomorrow. She grabbed a raincoat and ran out to the nearest grocery shop.

"Thanks, Marge." Eleanor took the paper bag, full with vegetables, milk, sausages and bread and walked into the wet street. As she hummed to the tune of 409 In My Coffeemaker, a thunder growled to signal for another rain.

Suddenly, a hand grabbed Eleanor's waist from the back and covered her nose and mouth with a damp cloth. A knife of fear plunged into her heart, as she dropped the bags onto the sandy street. She tried to scream for help but her voice was muffled by the damp cloth that smelt like chemical. All she could hear now was the struggle of her body to spring free from the capturer and his breath against her cheeks. Eleanor kicked and screamed but it was to no avail as the man was very well-built and he dragged her into a dark alley.

Her vision started to blur and sway as she saw only the piles of rubbish and boxes that surrounded the black alley. All she could think of was Mike. "HELP, MIKE! HELP!" she screamed in her mind and aloud. She kept repeating the same lines as her vision slowly turned black.
