Cause She's 2,000 Light Years Away (A Mike Dirnt Story), chapter 14
Eleanor rubbed her stinging eyes and stood up from the cold floor. She looked around her surrounding. The town's church. 'How did I get here?' she wondered and tried to recall where she was before. Nothing. Nothing came into her mind. She looked at the crowd of people, all dressed in black. "What's going on?" She walked nearer to the front and found a red-eyed Aunt Julia and Uncle Phil comforting her.
She turned to the left and saw Billie's family, then Billie, Adrienne, Mike and Tre. They all looked sad and Adrienne was crying softly. Mike's eyes were red and she noticed that he hadn't shave for quite a while to which made him looked 5 years older. Tre was closed to tears and Billie seemed dazed. Eleanor waved at them but none notice. She was puzzled at everyone's expression, 'Why is everyone sad? And didn't anyone notice her?'
Then, she saw a coffin. Eleanor walked slowly and quietly towards it. When she came face to face to the dead person within the coffin, she froze. Her breath stopped midway. She was staring at herself. Her mind couldn't believe what she was looking at. Her hand touched the face in the coffin and she felt the coldness of it. She fell onto the linoleum floor. It seemed like an eternity, as she sat on the floor, scared and confused. She stood up and walked to a window nearby and looked for her reflection. But what she saw nothing. Her hand touched the window but there was no reflection. She looked at the floor and there was no shadow to be found. Eleanor panicked and ran out of the church. She did not know where she was heading to; all she knew was that she just saw her own funeral.

Aunt Julia handed Mike 3 photo albums and a red folder. "I think Eleanor would like you and your friends to have these." Mike took it and nodded. "Thanks."
"I know we're all devastated about this Mike but take it easy. Okay?" He nodded again. "Well, I have to go now, son. Bye!"
"Bye!" Mike mumbled. He walked toward Billie, Adrienne and Tre who was waiting for him at the car and he took the seat next to Tre. "Elle's aunt said these are for us." He put the albums and folder in the empty space. Tre took the first album and opened it. A scent of lavender slowly spread around the car. Tre flipped the pages slowly, his face changed from sad to happy as he was reminded of their past memories.
Adrienne turned around from the passenger seat and took one. She looked at it while tears slowly flowed down her face. Mike couldn't help it and took the last album. He gently opened it. The first page greeted Mike with a picture of them at Tre's house after their band practice. His thumb touched the image of Eleanor smiling happily at him. 'I miss you so much, Elle.' As he browsed through the album, he saw pictures of Billie's birthday party, their band practice, Tre driving the bookmobile, himself as a chef and lastly a picture of him and Eleanor wrapped in each other's arm. On the cover was a poem written by Eleanor.
He is the angel of my life,
He gave me wings,
He gave me air,
He gave me light to fill this world.
I will love him forever,
I will remember him,
I will never leave him,
He will always be in my heart.
Mike's throat tightened as he held the tears that blurred his vision. Tre beside him was frantically wiping the tears and Adrienne in front was sobbing louder each second but Billie was still standing strong, driving the car.
Everyone got off the car when the engine died off. Mike took the albums and folder back into the house. Billie took off his tie and unbuttoned the collar. He sat on the couch and sighed, Adrienne beside him. Tre slammed the toilet door and Mike went into his room and locked the door. He took off the suit and put on something more comfortable. He put on The Ramones on full volume and climbed into bed. He covered himself with the old blanket, unaware of the staring eyes.
Eleanor was sitting on the messy desk, watching Mike. The pain and sorrow killed her as she saw tears flowed down his closed eyes. She glided into the living room and found Billie hugging a red-eyed Adrienne, comforting her. Eleanor could see he was near to tears; the flame in his eyes was dimmed. She left the couple and went to check on Tre. He was sitting on the closed toilet bowl, face covered in his hands. The warmth of the place had faded. It was replaced by sorrow and pain. She couldn't believe what she had done. Her death had caused four people's happiness.
She couldn't bare watching her friends like that and she left the place. She wandered the empty streets. Her tears never left her face.
