Cause She's 2,000 Light Years Away (A Mike Dirnt Story), chapter 18

Billie came into the house and threw the keys in the coffee table. He sat on the couch and sighed.
"What a long day!" Then, he saw Mike pacing up and down, mumbling to himself in his bedroom.
"Mike? Are you okay?" Billie walked into the room.
"Mike?" Mike looked at Billie, troubled and fear in his eyes.
"Eleanor is going again," he said and sat on the corner of his bed and looked at the empty bed.

Billie sat beside Mike.
"I thought you let her go already. You were happy for the past few days. Why, Mike?" He paused.
"I know it's hard to let go of someone you love but you have to know Mike. This is life. You must move on, you can't just sit here all your life and wait for something that would not come back." Billie looked at his band mate.

After a while, Mike shook his head.
"No, Billie. You don't get it. She is back. Eleanor is back. She's right here, on the bed."
Billie started to feel worried about his friend. 'Is he going to lose his mind? '

"Billie, you have to believe me. You just have to. Elle is back."

"Okay, then. Where is she?" Billie asked.

"I told you. She's right here." Mike pointed at the empty bed.
"But I can't see her, Mike," Billie said. Mike let out a frustrated groan and stood up.
"She's right there, in front of you. Think of her, Billie. Think!" Billie was getting more worried now.
"Come on, Beej. We don't have much time left. She's fading away. Trust me!"

Billie sighed and nodded. He closed his eyes and thought of Eleanor. The first day they met, the fun they had, how smart and witty she was. He felt the tears in his eyes. He had to confessed, he was trying to avoid the thoughts of Eleanor since her death. He finally opened his eyes and looked at Mike. A tear broke lose and flowed down his cheek. He looked at the bed and right there was Eleanor. She was lying on it, looking very pale and cold. He could not believe what he saw. He approached her slowly and attempted to touch her but failed.
"Elle?" he said softly.
She nodded and smiled.
"Oh my god! You were here all these time? This is fucking unbelievable. Oh, fuck!" he shouted.

"Now, you believe me?" Mike asked.
"You think? I have to tell Adie." Billie started towards the door bit was stopped by Mike.
"I'm sorry Billie but there's no time for reunion. We got to help Elle. Look!" Mike pointed.
"She's fading away."
Billie looked at his old friend again. Then, he realized what Mike was saying.
"What are we going to do now?"

"I've been asking you that fucking question for the past minute!" Mike roared, losing his patience now. Billie thought for a while.
"Let's call Tre. His mum knows a lot of those psychic people." Mike did not want to lose another second, ran to the phone and dialed Tre's number.

"Hello?" a voice greeted him with delight.

"Tre, this is Mike. I need you to tell me one of your mum's psychic's number, right now."

"Okay. Okay. Just let me get her phone book. I'll be fast." Tre dropped the phone and ran to the living room. A minute later, he went back to the phone.
"Mike. Okay, here's the number. 555-308564. Her name is Mary."

Mike wrote down the series of numbers.
"Okay. Thanks, Tre," He slammed the receiver and dialed the number. He drummed his fingers on the table as he waited for Mary to pick up.

"Hello? This is Mary."

"Hi. Erm... Sorry to bother you, but I got a question,"

"Okay, young man. What is it?"

"Er... How do you save a... A spirit that is fading away?" He knew that sounded ridiculous but he just have to ask. But Mike was surprised when she answered.

"What do you mean, its fading away? Is it feeling cold?"

"Yes!" His hopes increased.

"Well, then. Bring her to a pool or lake and let her stay in it. -"

"Okay. Thanks." Mike slammed the phone down again before Mary even finished her sentence.
"Billie! We need to bring Elle to a pool!" Billie looked puzzled but nodded.
"Let's go to Tre's."

"Come on, Elle. Let's go," Mike said and waited for her to stand up and walked with them to the car. They sped through the suburbs. As Billie stopped the car in front of the brightly lit house, Mike jumped out and ran to the door, knocking on it.
"Tre! Tre! Are you in there?"

The door opened and Tre was all dressed up for his date.
"What's up?" Billie walked beside Eleanor.
"We need to borrow your pool." Tre looked at them and nodded. He gestured at the direction of the pool. Billie and Eleanor walked in behind Mike.
"Sorry, Tre. But this is seriously urgent."

"No problem, dude. It's just, what's the hurry?" Tre asked.

"We'll explain later," Billie replied. They opened the back door.
"Elle, listened to me. I want you go into the pool and stay in there until you feel better, okay? Don't worry, everything is fine. Just trust me." Mike told her softly. She nodded and walked towards the clear, blue swimming pool and into the water.

"Billie? What is Mike talking about?" Tre asked.

"Tre. I know this sounds crazy, but it's true. Elle is back and she just went into your pool," Billie explained. Tre looked at him and pretended to laugh.
"That's very funny, Billie," he said sarcastically.

"I know this is crazy. But trust me and look at the pool." Tre looked at it, there was nothing but the clear blue moving water, then he saw something odd, it was grey. Then, it strike Tre that it was Eleanor.
"Holy shit!"

"Told you," Billie said and Tre fell onto the floor, unconscious.
"Mike! We need help here." Mike sighed and walked over to his unconscious friend and picked up Tre's shoulders and Billie picked up Tre's legs.
"God! He weighs a ton," Billie complained. They carried him into the living room and dropped him on the couch and went back out.

Without a second thought, Mike jumped into the cold water and swam toward Eleanor. He attempted to hold her hand but failed. He used his finger and traced the letters on his other hand.
"H-O-L-D-O-N-E-L-L-E-Y-O-U-C-A-N-D-O-I-T." He looked at her, she nodded. He went back to the surface. Billie handed him a towel and dry clothes.
"Thanks."

"I hope she's okay," Billie said and sat on one of the chairs.
"She will be," Mike said, his mind determined. 'She has to, ' he thought. They sat there for the next few hours and waited.
"Mike, I'm sorry but I really can't stand the cold anymore. I'm going inside," Billie said sleepily. Mike nodded, not really paying any attention.
