Cause She's 2,000 Light Years Away (A Mike Dirnt Story), chapter 19

"Mike! Mike! Wake up!" A violent shake went through Mike's body.
"Huh? What?" He woke up to find Billie looking excited.
"Elle's okay. She's fine."

"Really? Where is she?" He looked around, pushing Billie aside. He found her in the swimming pool, swimming happily.
"Elle!" he called out.

"Hey, you're up." She swam to the side and got out of the pool, all dried up.
"Thanks." She gave Mike a peck on the cheek. He was surprised at her touch. 'She just kissed me, ' he thought. He held her hand and immediately pulled her into his possession and kissed her. Fireworks were shooting in his head. He felt her response, the same need in her. He kissed her hard and thoroughly. Her hands were on his back, gripping on his shirt and on his hair, stroking it whilst his rested on the back of her neck and her waist. She gently parted her lips from his and looked into his eyes.

"Elle, I love you," Mike whispered.

"I love you too," she replied.

"Don't leave me again," he breathed.

"I won't. I won't."

"Uh-hem!" They broke off their trance and were reminded that Billie was there too.
"Sorry, Billie," Elle said and free herself from Mike.
"Where's Tre?"

"Tre? He's still inside. Sleeping."

"Let's go wake him," Elle suggested and an evil grin appeared on her face. They went inside, toward the couch. Eleanor shook Tre's shoulder.
"TRE! TRE! WAKE UP!" Tre stired and his eyes fluttered and opened. He rubbed it.
"Elle? ELLE?!" He jumped up which caused the three others to follow.
"This must be a joke, right? Billie who's this?"

"Calm down, Tre. I told you last night. Can't you remember?" Billie said, laughing at Tre's expression.

"That's not fucking possible. Elle... She's... She's not here anymore," Tre said, disbelievingly. His hand reached out and grabbed Eleanor's and dropped it.
"Oh, shit! This IS real! But... But how?"

"We don't know, Tre," Mike spoke after standing there in silence.
"I can't believe this!" Tre said.

"Yes, Tre. I'm back. Do you want some food?" she asked. Tre stood there, a hand rubbing his chin as he pretended to be in a deep thought.
"Breakfast, would be nice," he said at last. She shook her head.
"Who else wants breakfast?"

"Me!" Billie said excitedly, raising his hand. She started to the kitchen.
"I'll help you." Mike came after her.
"Let's see. We have eggs, sausages, bacon and some veggie." Eleanor took out everything that she needed from the refrigerator and put it on the counter. She set the frying pan on the stove, turned on the fire and took the bottle of olive oil. She poured some on the pan and cracked the egg and started to fry it.

Suddenly, a pair of hands wrapped around her waist.
"I said, I'll help. Didn't I?" a voice whispered into her ear.

After breakfast, they decided to go to Gilman Street.
"Hey!" Billie greeted the crowd in the old, graphitized room.
"Billie! Mike! Tre!" a man called and gave Tre a friendly hug.
"It's been quite a time since you guys came. After all that concerts, I thought you guys completely forgot about this place."

"No way, man. We'll never forget this place," Mike replied.
"Is there anyone playing?" Billie asked.
"No, I don't think so," the man said.
"Great! Can we play now?" Tre asked excitedly.
"Yeah! Knock yourselves out!"

The three guys went to the back of the room, supposedly the stage and Billie and Mike took out their instruments from the cases and started to tune it. As they were prepared, Tre and Mike started off the tune of "One of My Lies" and later Billie joined in. Hours passed and Eleanor had enjoyed the band's enthusiasm and interest, although she had seen them performed lots of times. Besides that, Eleanor managed to pour a bottle of water on Danny McLain, the boy who had always bullied her.

"Elle, let's go." Mike stood up and took his bass guitar.
"Go where?" she asked.
"Don't ask. Just follow me." Eleanor looked at him suspiciously.
"Do you trust me or not?" She nodded.
Mike pulled her along and they were now standing in front of the almost broken house. They went into the car and Mike started the engine of the Ford Fairlane. Mike sped through the countryside and stopped at a spot near a forest. Then, Eleanor remembered that this was the place where they first held hands and watched the stars that glinted in the black velvet sky.
"Why are we here?" she asked.

"You'll see." He got off the car and went to the opposite side to open Eleanor's car door.
"Thanks." She held his hand and he led her into the forest.
"Erm... Mike. Where are we going?" Terror in her voice.
"Don't worry. Just trust me," he said soothingly.
He tightened his grip around her hands to let her know that everything will be fine. They walked through the forest of oak trees until they reached a cabin.
"What's this?"

"A cabin!" Mike said excitedly and he took out a key and unlocked the door. He turned to face Eleanor, a smile plastered on his face.
"Close your eyes," he said mysteriously. She closed it as Mike took her hands and slowly led her into the cabin.
"Okay, you can open them now!" She squinted her eyes and it slowly adjusted to the darkness of it. Mike flicked on the light switch.
"Surprise!"

Eleanor looked at her surrounding in awe; a fireplace with a cozy couch in front of it, photographs of her and Mike hung on the wall encased in photo frames and some were placed on top of the fireplace. Eleanor was so absorbed into the room she did not realize that Mike had moved to a corner of the room to take the guitar that was rested against the wall. He started to strum the strings and this broke Eleanor's trance. She walked towards him as he sang;

"Starlit night,
The moon is shining bright,
You are the one I need,
Up at your window,
I see a shadow,
Silhouette of your grace,
Here's this flower,
I picked for all the hours,
That you've spent with me,
The One I love,
That I've been dreaming of,
Sitting across the sea.

Let my hands flow through,
Your hair, moving closer,
A kiss we'll share,
Passionate love to be all night long,
We'll never break, as one too strong.

Nothing's more,
Than what our love is for,
As I kiss your cheek,
Oh so softly,
Hands flowing down my back,
1, 000 hours,
I'll never leave,
Our romance,
Is a love trance,
And now we'll never part,
1, 000 hours,
Of such a love shower,
We'll never stop,
Once we start.

Let my hands flow through,
Your hair, moving closer,
A kiss we'll share,
Passionate love to be all night long,
We'll never break, as one too strong,
As one too strong,
As one too strong.

Strong... "

Mike ended the song, his blue eyes still holding hers. He put the guitar down and move towards Eleanor.
"Elle, I love you."
With exquisite tenderness his mouth moved across her cheek and then suddenly captured her lips with a passion that dazed her. But through the intensity of what she was feeling, she had to ask. She pulled her head back.
"Mike, I love you too. But what's going to happen... "

"Shh... " He placed a finger on her lips to quiet her.
His voice was husky with tenderness.
"God knows, I loved you since the first time I saw you in the hallway. Just forget about everything else and enjoy the moment." Then, gently, he pulled her back to comfort her. His face came down and he covered her mouth with his own. He gathered her up into his arms and carried her across to the couch.
