Cause She's 2,000 Light Years Away (A Mike Dirnt Story), chapter 3

"NOOO..." Eleanor screamed. She woke up to find herself sweaty in her bedroom and her alarm clock ringing ever so loudly. She clicked it off and scratched her head, still dazed from her horrible dream.

After a long moment of wondering, she decided that it was just a dumb dream and started to tidy her bed. As usual, she prepare herself for school and made breakfast for Jack and herself.

As Eleanor was washing the dishes, Jack stumbled down the stairs and greeted her with a groan. "What are we having today?"

"Eggs, bacon, and sausages. What do you prefer today, tea or coffee?"

"Coffee," he mumbled.

After serving Jack a cup of Nescafe, Eleanor grabbed her bag and put on her jacket and French cap to conceal the swelling of her cheeks from last night's incident. And set off to school.

Eleanor was sorting her books in the locker for her next lesson; she was suddenly greeted with a hug and a kiss on the cheek.

"Morning, Mike," she said and turned to face him.

"Morning, Elle. Nice hat," Mike exclaimed.

Before she could cover her bruise, Mike's hand reached out to examine it. "What happened Elle? Who did this?"

"Oh! Erm...this...it's... nothing. I was tired last night and I slipped in the bathroom," she lied.

Mike looked at Eleanor worriedly. "Just be more careful next time, okay?"

"I will," Eleanor promised, relieved that Mike did not suspect her of lying. She closed her locker and walked alongside Mike towards the two people which seemed to be arguing with each other.

"Hey, guys!"

"Oh. Hi, Elle," answered the guy with brown curly hair.

"Hey, Elle! How was last night? Did you and Mikester had fun?" asked the guy with short reddish brown hair as he wiggled his eyebrows at Eleanor.

"Shut up, Tre," Mike said as he hit Tre's shoulder.

"Oh alright. Dont get mad at me now, just because you can't take a joke."

"So, what were you guys arguing about just now?" Eleanor asked, hoping that this would change the topic.

"Oh, yeah! About that. Mike, when did we say that our next band practice is?" Billie asked.

Mikes face evolved from serious to thoughtful. "Hmm...our next practice should be tomorrow at 4. Why?"

"Thank you Mike for stating the obvious because Mr. Smarty-Pants here said we got band practice today," Billie Joe retorted.

"Fine, so, I'm wrong. Big deal!"

"Wait a sec, Tre. You promised that if I could confirm that the practice is tomorrow, youll give me fifty bucks. Wheres my money?" Billie Joe said triumphantly.

"Okay, okay. Ill give you the money tomorrow. Happy?"Tre said, sounded bored.

Billie nodded with a smirk plastered on his face.

"YOU FUCKING BITCH! WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY?" Michelle screamed as she pushed Eleanor to the concrete floor.

"I SAID DONT YOU EVER INSULT MY MUM AGAIN CAUSE YOUR MUM IS A FUCKING WHORE, BITCH!" she yelled back and picked herself up.

"AHH..." Michelle came lunging at her enemy and pulled her hair.

"OUCH! YOU MOTHER FUCKER, TAKE THIS." Eleanor punched Michelle as hard as she could.

"STOP IT! STOP IT, ELEANOR! STOP IT, MICHELLE! WHATS THE MATTER WITH YOU TWO?" Mrs. Brennan shouted as she came out of her office.

Both of them stopped abruptly. They were so caught up in the moment that they did not notice the crowd that had gathered around them.

"She said that my mum was a whore, Mrs. Brennan," Michelle stuttered as her perfectly shaped lips were now covered with blood.

"But she insulted my mum first!" Eleanor argued.

"YOU TWO FOLLOW ME TO THE PRINCIPALS OFFICE, NOW!!!"

"Are you alright?" Mike asked as he came rushing down the hill.

"I'm fine, I'm fine."

"No, you're not. Come let me see." She looked up at him.

"Oh my fucking god! What happened?"

"I dont want to talk about it, okay," she answered.

Mike sat next to Eleanor and lightly touched her cut lips and bruised eye. She winced at the pain when his hands made contact with her left eye.

"I'm sorry."

"It's alright."

He wrapped his arms around her shoulders. Eleanor sat there quietly, enjoying the autumn breeze. Her vision blurred as she can't take it anymore. Tears flowed down her face.

"Eleanor, don't cry. Don't cry. What's wrong?"

"Everything's wrong. I hate myself. I hate the fact that I always need someones help. I hate that I cant get the courage to speak my mind," Eleanor complained as she lightly hit Mike's chest.

Mike sat there allowing her to do so until she stopped. Eleanor, don't think like that. I can guarantee you that your life is not that bad. They are people out there in this world who are suffering from poverty, famine, war, AIDS, discrimination and more. So, you are actually considered as very lucky. What you need is to find the light in the tunnel and get out of there and move on. And Eleanor, never ever be afraid to voice out you opinion. Life is a risk, so what's wrong with taking a risk rather that flowing with the waves and just take in whatever people give you."

She looked up to find Mike staring at her with the most serious look yet it was full of concern and passion. Without another second being wasted, Eleanor practically jumped onto Mike and kissed him like she never did before. At first, Mike was shocked but he slowly got used to it. Her arms were wrapped around his neck as his were on her waist, pulling her closer to him.

She never want to let him go. She had never loved someone this much before. She slowly removes her lips from his. "And I hate you for always being right. I hate you for making me love you more and more each second," she stammered. Mike grinned at the remark.

They spent the hour talking to each other, kissing now and then while wrapped up in each others' arms, and watched the people on the town busily carrying on with their work as vehicles zoomed up and down the streets.
