Two Twins, Their Idol, And A Green Day Competition, chapter 1

**Writers note**
OK, so there are some references to Billie Joe and Mike's 'vegetarianess', that we all thought they were, but have recently found out they're not. I cant be bothered to change the story so anything saying Billie Joe and Mike are veggies in this story just ignore it.

*Introduction*
You know when you see that people have won competitions? You think to yourself 'I'll never win one' so you don't bother entering? Well, I thought that until one day I took a bash at it and it changed my life...

I sat watching TV with my twin sister Hannah, ever since mum and dad left we had been tossed about in and out of foster homes we could never stay in one long enough, either we didn't like them or they didn't like us. I'd been expelled from two schools been on counseling and failed my year 8 exams. Hannah had been excluded a few times nothing very drastic, except she nearly set the toilets alight when she got really pissed off and decided to light a fire in there.

We were sat doing nothing; all the other kids were at school,
"What you want to watch?" Hannah asked, breaking the silence.
"Err, put Kerrang! on." I replied as she fiddled with the remote tapping in 454. 'Green Day Hour' it said as the channel turned on. We're the biggest fans of Green Day, not to mention the lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong. Sometimes when I have no one to turn to, I fantasize about him, its weird I know, but I do it. Hannah likes him too; we like Mike and Tré too but not as much.
'Wake Me Up When September Ends' Live was on. I love the song but it always makes me cry, Hannah too, just to think that song is about Billie Joe's father, I really do feel sorry for him, the fact that he lost his dad at a young age.

Before I knew it the song was finished, tears were streaming down my face but I didn't care. I looked over at Hannah, hers to but she didn't care either. The adverts came on, I was going to turn it over but for some reason this time I didn't.
"Competition time now all you Green Day fans," I didn't move much, I don't usually bother with entering competitions, but then the question came.
"All you have to do is answer this question: 'How many kids does Billie Joe have?'" I knew the answer straight away, I don't usually read, but anything Green Day I will read.
"A: 1, B: 2 or C: 3? Call 08000 2924741 if you know the answer, calls cost £1 ask permission."
I was bored; Hannah was making coffee, (she made herself like it because she knows how much Mike likes his coffee, so I thought,
"What the hell, I got nothing to loose." I picked up the phone, dialed the number and waited.
"This is the Kerrang! Green Day unidentified competition, 'How many kids does Billie Joe have?' please enter number now... " I hesitated a little and pushed the '2' button.
"Thank you for entering our competition, now please enter your phone number." 077738274567 I tapped in carefully. "Tune into Kerrang! on Wednesday 12pm."
"That's tomorrow" I thought as I put the phone down.
"I won't win though I never do," I said to myself as I went into the kitchen to get my coffee and tell Hannah what I did.

I woke up the next morning, I tried to open my eyes but I was so tired. I felt my way to the bathroom, closed the door and ran the water in the shower. I took my shorts, T-shirt and undies off and stepped into the shower. I picked up the shampoo and put the radio on.
"Welcome to Kerrang! FM. It's 11.50 am on December 1st and in the TV studio they have the one and only Billie Joe Armstrong, he's there to announce the winner of his competition." The presenter said.
"Oh shit, the competition I completely forgot!" I washed the shampoo out of my hair, put my towel around me and went downstairs. Hannah was still sleeping as I went passed.

I sat down on the sofa and turned on Kerrang! I was faced with Billie Joe and a presenter,
"Only a few more minutes until Billie announces the winner of the competition and more importantly what the prize is." Those few minutes felt like hours to me, I was still wet but I couldn't give a damn.
"Right, it's the time, Billie Joe is going to ring one lucky contestant and reveal to them the prize and the fact that they've won it! Here you go Billie Joe." The presenter handed him a piece of paper. Billie started tapping in the number into the phone he had,
"Come on tap faster." I said to myself as time slowly passed. Billie Joe put the phone up to his ear; the loud speaker came on. 'Ring ring, ring ring, ring ring... ' My phone didn't ring so my hopes were dashed.
"I knew I'd never win." I said to myself as the phone on the TV kept ringing. Billie put the phone down, no answer,
"That means another chance." I said to myself again. I should really stop talking to myself. The presenter handed another piece of paper to Billie, this time he tapped the number in faster, yet why did it feel so slow? Again as before Billie put the phone up to his ear and the loud speaker came on, 'ring ring... ' my phone started to ring.
"No fucking way." I said out loud. I looked at the phone, hesitated and picked it up. I didn't recognize the number but I didn't give a damn. Hands shaking, I pressed the answer key,
"Hello?" I answered, and to my surprise I heard myself on the TV! I couldn't believe it, I watched the TV as Billie said,
"Who is this?" it said it down the phone, I knew I was through, my stomach started to do somersaults.
"This is Vicki from Telford, England." I answered back.
"Well, done Vicki, you have won the Green Day unidentified competition!!" I couldn't believe what I was hearing! I screamed down the phone, Billie's face screwed up in reaction. I stopped, frantically said,
"Sorry!"
Billie Joe continued,
"Your prize is one month with me including, coming on tour with Green Day, living in my house, and doing everything with me for the month."
"Oh my God!" I exclaimed.
"I love you, thank you so much!!" the presenter took the phone off Billie and said
"Please stay on the line so we can get your details and we will sort out flights for you."
As soon as the presenter cut off a new voice came on
"Hello, full name please." He asked.
"Vicki Stevens" I replied
"Address?"
"The Funder House foster care, Telford." I replied.
"Ok so your flights are Wednesday 13th December 2004 for 2 passengers to California. You'll get there for the 16th so you get the most out of your prize." The guy said
"Uh huh, ok, thank you I wouldn't miss it for the world."
"One more thing." The guy added, "Your tickets will be on the way in the post." I put the phone down. "December 16th for a month, that means I'll be spending Christmas with him! This is too good to be true!" I thought as I ran up the stairs.

"Uh? Wah? Ge.. Get off me!" Hannah screamed as I jumped on her to get her attention.
"I've won! I've won!" I shouted
"Won what?" she asked.
"I've won us two tickets to California to live with Billie Joe Armstrong for a month! Over Christmas too!" I was still shouting.
"No fucking way, stop lying!" she said. I looked at her,
"You're not lying are you?" she asked. I shook my head. At that moment Hannah got up and screamed and ran around the house.

She stopped, turned around and looked at me.
"What are we supposed to tell Ellen? She isn't going to let us go is she?" I froze I didn't think of that.
"We won't tell her, we will just leave. I've got enough money to get us to the airport, and to survive while we are there, we will be fine." I reassured her, though I felt different.
"Yeah." She said looking anxious.
