You are the One, chapter 1

This is a story of love of the deepest kind, a true love.

Billie Joe Armstrong sat with his family at their home on a bright, warm summer's day, smiling to himself as he looked at each of them. He couldn't express how much he loved them. It was too much for spoken words, or gestures, too much to be expressed in song, or poem.
He loved his wife, and his too sons with his entire heart and soul, and he would never part with them for anything in the world. And this made him happy.
He had something in his life that he cared so much about that he would sacrifice anything for.
That made him so satisfied.
Just to sit there, and be with them on that day.
And every day, forever.
He lit a cigarette. As he looked at his wife, his sons, Joey and Jakob jumped recklessly into the pool. Adrienne smiled at him, and went on reading her magazine.
She looked so beautiful, just sitting there in the sun.
His heart swelled just looking at her.
So there he sat, for hours that went by like mere moments, absorbed in his love for his wonderful family.

Adrienne called out to their sons as the warmth and light began to dwindle into twilight.
'C'mon boys, it's getting dark! '

'Ok, we're coming. ' Jakob replied.

Adrienne stood, and smiled at her husband happily as the boys approached, spraying both of their parents with two huge water pistols.

'Ah! Hey, that's cold! ' their mother exclaimed as the boys run inside.

'Ok. That's it. Now, it's war. ' Picking up one of their discarded water pistols and running in after them.
I have to see this, Billie thought, walking in after them.
He caught up to his wife, who stood outside the bathroom door, soaking wet, water all over the floor.

'Hey, no fair! ' She said breathlessly into the door.

'You're the one who chased us! ' Their sons laughed.

'Fine! ' She pretended to sulk.
Adrienne turned to face her husband, her breathing terrible, her face a chalky grey.
Billie was startled. She suddenly looked so different. He reached out for her hand.

'Hey, what's wrong? ' He asked.

'I dunno. ' She replied, placing a hand on her chest, wheezing painfully. 'My chest hurts. ' She looked terrified.

'Don't force it. Come and sit down. ' He said, directing her slowly towards there room. 'Is this the first time this has happened? '

She looked up at him, slightly sheepish. He sighed. 'I didn't want to worry you. ' She said, now looking at her feet. Well, he was sure worried now.

'You know you can always tell me anything. When did this start? '

'I've been having trouble breathing for a few weeks now. But the pain only started on Friday. ' She replied, making her husbands heart sink.

'I think we should go to the hospital. '

'Really, you think it's that serious? ' Adrienne asked, her face contorted in pain, although she already knew the answer.

'Please, don't worry yourself. ' He husband replied, putting his arms around her, kissing her forehead.

'Get ready, and then we'll go. '

He sat there for a few minutes, until his wife's chest began to rise and fall in a regular pattern, to stop stabbing with pain.

His eyes were filling up with tears, seeing her like this.

He wished he could make it all better, take all her pain away.

He couldn't bear to think what might be wrong.
